Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chakotay is seated upside-down while piloting a Federation vessel in this episode.

Answer: Initiations

There have been many instances on "Star Trek" where a ship is seen flying upside-down or is in an inverted position in space, usually as the result of a failed engine, weapons fire or some strange anomaly. But there have been very few instances where we see the ones PILOTING the upside-down ship in an upside-down position as well.

In "Initiations", Chakotay is piloting a shuttle before his eventual capture by the Kazon, and at one point during his flight, the view of the shuttle's interior changes to where Chakotay is seen calmly seated upside-down. Production glitch or an attempt to show some special effect of what outer space phenomena can do to a shuttle? Either way, this was the only Voyager episode where anyone was seen in an upside-down position while piloting a vessel of any kind.
2. Paris and another crewmember are expecting Neelix to serve them a meal, but the Talaxian head chef instead serves up some information while operating a PADD in the mess hall kitchen.

Answer: Repentance

Finding himself troubled by the Nygean legal system, Neelix is reading up about a criminal case involving one of the prisoners when Paris and B'Elanna open the sliding doors to the mess hall kitchen's window, realizing that Neelix still doesn't have dinner ready.

In "Resolutions", Neelix's only appearance in the mess hall is when he joins Harry, B'Elanna, Crewman Hogan and Ensign Swinn at a table when discussing a proposal to Tuvok about contacting the Vidiians to get a cure for both Janeway and Chakotay.

He's never reading a PADD at any moment during the discussion. In "Riddles", the only time anybody is reading a PADD in the mess hall is when a cured Tuvok is reading one at the end of the episode. Neelix isn't reading a PADD when he and the Vulcan chief of security, in his mentally-damaged state, are whipping up tasty desserts for Janeway, Paris and Harry earlier in the episode.

In "Random Thoughts", Neelix doesn't appear in the mess hall at all.
3. Tuvok and another crewmember are playing a game in engineering before they're alerted to some internal activity happening on Voyager.

Answer: State Of Flux

While waiting to see which of Seska or Lieutenant Carey is going to initiate the computer program that would reveal their communications and activity in relation to the Kazon, Tuvok and Chakotay are playing a brief game of gin. Soon after Tuvok shows his winning hand, he, Chakotay and a nearby B'Elanna are alerted to one of the computer stations where they see computer files being transferred using Seska's own authorization.

In "The Omega Directive", Tuvok does play a game--kal'toh--with Harry at the beginning of the episode, but the pair are in the mess hall at the time.

The same occurs in "Riddles", although Tuvok is in his mentally-damaged state when playing against the ensign this time. Tuvok isn't playing a game of any kind throughout "Investigations"; his only focus is to flush out the spy who's been sabotaging Voyager.
4. Harry accompanies an alien female in a recreational activity of some kind in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Survival Instinct

Even with the hordes of aliens that have crowded up Voyager during the crew's shore leave at the outpost, Harry never hooks up with an alien female in this episode. He does, however, pass the time with his buddy Tom Paris, as revealed when the pair report to Janeway's ready room and admit to being in a fist fight with the Kinbori.

In "Remember", the Enaran woman who takes a liking to Harry at the beginning of the episode motions for the ensign to join her while she and several other Enarans and members of Voyager crew are seated around the mess hall, witnessing Jor Brel playing a musical instrumental. That's about as far as any potential romancing between the pair goes in this episode.

In "Prime Factors", Harry is drawn to the Sikarian woman Eudana, who uses the spatial trajector to take them to Alastria so that Harry can tell her all of his stories.

In "Drive", Harry links up with Irina, the alien woman who's attempting to sabotage the peace race between the various other alien species in that sector of space.
5. The Doctor is kissed by TWO different holographic women in this episode.

Answer: Alter Ego

The Doctor's first appearance in Neelix's Paxau Resort program on the holodeck sees him joined by two holographic Hawaiian women during Neelix's luau. The Doctor receives a kiss by each of the women, verbally remarking (in his usual quirky way) on the sensation he gets from each one.

In "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy", neither of the two times the Doctor is kissed were by the lips of a holographic woman. An imagined version of Seven kisses him during one of his daydreams of being bestowed as the Emergency Command Hologram, then the REAL Seven kisses him in the mess hall at the end of the episode--a platonic gesture on her part, so she says.

In "Lifesigns", the Doctor only kisses the holographic form of the Vidiian doctor, Denara Pel. The Doctor isn't kissing anybody at all in "Someone To Watch Over Me", although he and Seven do dance together on the holodeck.
6. Federation technology is transported to an alien ship in some manner WITHOUT actually being accompanied by anyone FROM the Federation in all of the following episodes...except this one.

Answer: Message In A Bottle

Here's another tricky one! Dismiss for a moment that the U.S.S. Prometheus that was under control of the Romulans in this episode was NOT an alien ship. However, the relay network that was under control by the Hirogen WAS alien, though it wasn't actually a ship. Further, the Doctor, although he's a hologram, IS from the Federation, so that also disqualifies this episode as being a valid answer.

In "Dark Frontier", a photon torpedo is transported onto the Borg sphere at the beginning of the episode, a tactical move on Harry's part which results in the sphere (and the drones onboard) being destroyed with the crew salvaging the spare parts later on in the cargo bay.

In "Eye Of The Needle", a test cylinder is successfully transported through the wormhole to the Romulan, Telek R'mor, on the other side.

Unfortunately, the crew itself wasn't able to do the same thing. In "Concerning Flight", sophisticated transporter beams aimed at Voyager result in several pieces of the ship's technology, including the main computer and the Doctor's mobile emitter, being stolen and taken away to an alien planet.
7. Chakotay is the victim of an unsolicited injection with a medical instrument while in someone else's quarters.

Answer: Renaissance Man

When the Doctor is posing as Janeway in order to avoid arousing suspicion by the other crewmembers while obeying the orders of the 'spy aliens', Chakotay is in the real Janeway's quarters, his own suspicions being confirmed when he makes up a story that the real Janeway never told him.

The Doctor (posing as Janeway) approaches the commander with a hypospray which, after a brief struggle, is successfully injected into Chakotay's neck, rendering him incapacitated. In "Maneuvers", Chakotay does get injected with a couple of medical instruments of some kind while on the Kazon ship (once at the hands of Seska) where he's being interrogated and beaten by an impatient Maje Cullah wanting Voyager's command codes.

In "Repentance", Chakotay isn't injected with any kind of medical instrument; nor is he in sickbay receiving any kind of medical treatment at all.

In "Repression", Chakotay does receive some medical attention following his unsolicited, invasive mind meld at the hands of Tuvok, whose own mind is being influenced by Teero, but neither the mind meld nor the medical treatment occur in anyone's quarters; they happen in the cargo bay and in sickbay, respectively.
8. Paris successfully manipulates controls on a computer panel somewhere on Voyager so that he and another crewmember can arrive in engineering together.

Answer: Twisted

Corridors throughout Voyager were impacted and contorted to the point where the entire ship was like a giant maze, but B'Elanna and Paris were still able to reach engineering via the turbolift at one point when the conn officer presses a sequence of buttons on the turbolift's control panel. Paris never goes to engineering at any time in "Cathexis", although the alien presence does manipulate him into changing Voyager's course while on the bridge and accessing navigation control.

In "Lineage", Paris never goes to engineering for anything either; only Seven and Icheb are present at the beginning when B'Elanna is first diagnosed to be pregnant, and Chakotay and Janeway come to engineering later to congratulate B'Elanna personally.

In "Vis À Vis", the fake Paris, who is really the alien named Steth, is surely doing a lot of manipulating while the real Paris is trapped inside of Steth's body, but neither of the two appeared in engineering at any time.
9. Neelix adorns a crewmember with a decorative item, but that crewmember promptly removes that item after the Talaxian walks away to tend to a minor problem.

Answer: Alter Ego

A reluctant Tuvok decides to attend Neelix's luau festivities in the Talaxian's Paxau Resort program on the holodeck. Neelix throws a lei around Tuvok's neck shortly after realizing that a colorful centerpiece being carried by one of the holodeck characters is much larger than he thought.

While walking away to fix the problem, Tuvok removes the floral necklace and soon meets up with the holographic Marayna, who takes notice that the Vulcan is the only one at the luau not wearing a lei. In "Twisted", Tom Paris gifts a necklace to Kes, who has adorned herself with the piece of fine jewelry by the time she and Neelix are walking through one of the 'twisted' corridors en route to Kes's quarters.

In "Prime Factors", the crew were receiving all sorts of gifts from the pleasure-seeking Sikarians, but Neelix never adorns anyone himself with any kind of gift or decorative item. Neither does Neelix adorn anyone with anything special in "Hunters"; his time instead is spent delivering PADDs containing messages from home that were sent through the Hirogen's relay network in "Message In A Bottle".
10. Tuvok takes a seat in the captain's chair on the bridge while Janeway is still present on the bridge herself, working at the conn station.

Answer: Dreadnought

One of the three episodes early on in which Janeway ordered the auto self-destruct sequence, Janeway is determined to remain on the bridge and to go down with the ship to prevent Dreadnought from detonating on the Rakosan homeworld. Tuvok suggests that at least one crewmember should be present if she was incapacitated in any way and unsuccessful in her solo mission. With Janeway already seated down at Paris's conn station, Tuvok conveniently seats himself not too far behind her at the captain's chair, which is the only time in the series the Vulcan has sat there while in Janeway's presence.

In "Twisted" and in "Resolutions", Tuvok also spends some time in the captain's chair, but Janeway is elsewhere in each instance--on the holodeck enjoying the festivities of Kes's birthday party and on the planet with Chakotay while infected with the disease she contracted on an away mission, respectively.

In "Deadlock", neither version of Tuvok ever takes the captain's chair at all, whether on the ship emitting the proton bursts or the heavily-damaged Voyager receiving those proton bursts.
