In this episode, called "Dice", Jess found the app on Schmidt's phone. Though he gave her several looks to indicate she should not join, she created an account anyway. Her first "date" was a disaster, so he helped her with some rules and exit lines. One of the things he told her was that dating was only to pursue the act of dating forever.

She said dating was to fall in love, but he said it wasn't, not for him.

Cece discussed it with Jess, and Schmidt came running into the room to plead with her to forget it. He even crashed her medical consult in order to say goodbye. In the end, Cece decided she was not going to have the surgery.

In "Landline", the roomies were having trouble getting cellphone reception inside the loft. So, a wired landline was set up. Nick took it upon himself to become the house secretary, which led to him knowing everyone's personal business. This annoyed Winston and Schmidt especially, so they tried to use an answering machine. The phone did not seem to last past that episode.

Schmidt spilled red wine on Jess' comforter while she and Coach were off at a teacher's conference. So, Nick suggested that Schmidt just wash it before she returned. The backstory of why Schmidt did not know how to do laundry was unveiled, but in the end Nick taught him how to do it properly. When Jess returned, her blanket was clean and very small. It had shrunk.

In the opening scene, Nick could be seen stirring an enormous stock pot. When the camera panned into it, The Sauce was brown and appeared to potentially be some sort of chocolate fondue. According to Schmidt, not only was it fondue, but it was so great he believed it would impress Fawn Moscato on her first visit to the loft. A bit later, as Nick stirred the pot and tended his "baby", he was seen adding mustard, mayo and bologna into it. Winston called it bolognese, contradicting the fondue reference. At the end, Fawn said it tasted like the inside of a bear, and she meant it as a compliment. Zoe Lister-Jones played Councilwoman Fawn.

Ron-Ron Juice was the special creation of Ronnie on the MTV reality series "The Jersey Shore".

Coach was first afraid that Nick and Winston would embarrass him in front of his new, more sophisticated than normal, girlfriend. But, it turned out that he felt a bit inferior to her himself. She really did like him, and even learned the theme for 'Monday Night Football' on her cello. And, at the end of the episode she joined in with Jess, Bearclaw, and Jess' ex-boyfriend Paul on a interactive song about woodland creatures.

Meaghan Rath played May. She had previously starred in four seasons of "Being Human" which ended in 2014. But, in 2015 she had guest spots on this show and the series "Banshee" and a part on the series "Secrets and Lies". Bearclaw was played once more by Josh Gad. Josh may be best known as the voice of Olaf the snowman in the Disney hit "Frozen".

Schmidt hinted around that his mother was a bit critical. We found out that she had a girlfriend named Susan, called her dog his "baby brother", and brought him a cream colored crochet sweater. He asked her if he could have the money he got as gifts at his Bar Mitzvah and she said that he could.

He wanted to go in on an investment with Nick to own 10% of the bar. She said all he had to do was write out the Thank You notes that he'd never gotten around to all those years ago. Nora Dunn was a cast member of "SNL" from 1985-1990. Nasim Pedrad played Aly, Winston's cop partner, in this episode.

She too has been a cast member of "SNL".

They did not want to attend the funeral of a man Jess barely knew. They'd sent a few texts, some of which Jess considered to be sexy in nature, but had not consummated their involvement. The poor man had died on the showroom floor of a motorcycle dealership as he considered purchasing one. Jess said it was the right thing to do to attend the funeral, so they accompanied her. What she really wanted to do was try and delete her sexy texts from his phone. NFL superstar JJ Watt also appeared at the funeral, as himself, to erase a text off of Pete's phone.

May was heading to New York to play music, so she and Coach broke up. Love Doctor Jess decided there was no good reason for that, and convinced May to open up to her. May and Coach got back together and Coach decided to move to New York. Also in this episode, Fawn tricked Schmidt into taking the blame for Panty Gate, which originated in the previous episode, "Par 5".

This eventually led to the pair ending their relationship while inside a lingerie store.

Coach was the one who decided everyone should learn how to make clean breaks, as that was his plan. He'd leave most everything behind, be unemotional, and head to New York to start his new life. In the end, though, his emotions came out and he took items to remind him of his roommates. He took the Jess cube that she'd made him, some of her books, the glass grapes, and even the Regis Philbin crepe pan he and Winston had bought from an infomercial. Cece returned early from her climb of Mt. Shasta (a real place in California) and Schmidt proposed to her. She said "yes".

Regis' daughter, J.J. Philbin, is one of the producers of "New Girl". And, though Jess was not pregnant, Zooey Deschanel was during the taping of this episode.
