Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What word was written in blood on the wall of Rhea Reynolds' bed?

Answer: fraud

The Carver was no doubt angry with Rhea for misappropriating the legacy he was making for himself. He had slashed her face, raped her and killed her, thereby marking the first time he'd crossed the line to homicide.
2. Granville Trapp's condition was caused by medication he took for what?

Answer: AIDS

Trapp called it his "AIDS face" and felt it marked him as a "sick gay man." Christian explained to him that the medication he was on, in high doses, would eventually eat away the fat cells in his face and body. They agreed to do surgery to fill out his cheeks so that he'd no longer stand out as so obviously gaunt.
3. To what serial killer did Liz compare Christian?

Answer: Ted Bundy

Det. McGraw arrested Christian in the office and Sean, Quentin and Liz were left to discuss damage control for the business. Liz stuck her neck out to observe that the police must have strong evidence against Christian or else they never would have been able to arrest him. Sean was appalled that Liz was suggesting they buy into the accusations, but Liz pointed out, "People who knew Ted Bundy thought he was a helluva guy.

He was college educated, very charming, good with the ladies. And then you find out he strangled them after biting their nipples off." When Sean angrily dismissed Liz's argument, she defended herself, saying she was just playing "devil's advocate."
4. What was Kimber arrested for?

Answer: assaulting an officer

Kimber accused Det. McGraw of bringing her in for questioning because she was jealous. Kimber said Det. McGraw had fallen in love with Christian and now wanted revenge. Det. McGraw replied, "Once you screw a girl's lover in front of her there's no need to get revenge, is there?" Kimber of course slapped her, and Det. McGraw immediately called in officers who arrested her for assaulting an officer.

When Det. McGraw arrested Christian, she showed him a video of Kimber being arrested to provoke Christian, but she couldn't get him to confess.
5. What evidence from Rhea Reynolds' apartment did Det. McGraw have to support her theory that Christian was the Carver?

Answer: a condom

The only physical evidence Det. McGraw seemed to have that placed Christian at the crime scene was a condom with Rhea's blood on the outside and Christian's semen on the inside. Christian accused Det. McGraw of planting it herself to get back at him for dumping her. Sean and Julia seemed to have a bit more trouble excusing that piece of evidence, but were still trying to be supportive of Christian.
6. Quentin told Sean that he thought you could know a person better in five minutes than in 20 years.

Answer: true

They were doing Granville Trapp's surgery together and Sean complained that he found it morally repugnant to make the sick man look well so that he could go out and sow his infected seed with freedom. He then told Quentin and Liz that the police had found a condom that implicated Christian. Quentin quickly dismissed the evidence as having been planted by police, but when Sean seemed less willing to jump to Christian's defense, Quentin commented with some shock, "You think Christian did it." Sean quickly shot back, "I didn't say that. That's not what I think." Then, after some thought, observed, "You've only known him a few months. I'd say you'd be more susceptible to believing he's guilty." Quentin countered, "Well, I think it's the opposite, really. I think you know more about someone in the first five minutes than you do an entire 20-year relationship. I mean, think about it: those first gut instincts are always right.

It's time and sentimentality that cloud the mind's ability to judge." That seemed to set Sean back on his heels a bit as he tried to reevaluate whether or not he believed in Christian's innocence.
7. Who did Det. McGraw bring in to see Christian in jail?

Answer: his mother

Det. McGraw surprised Christian with a visit from his birth mother. This was doubly surprising because Christian had always been told she was dead and had endured a horrible childhood in foster homes because his mother hadn't been there for him. Det. McGraw told him that she'd subpoenaed the adoption records and tracked the woman down and was willing to let them talk because she was "soft" for family reunions. Of course, she only allowed it in the hope that it would compel Christian to confess. Christian's mother told him that his father had been a serial rapist who had attacked her when she was only 14.

This was intended to support Det. McGraw's argument that Christian, who had himself fathered the recently-violent Matt, was genetically predisposed to violence.
8. Where did Det. McGraw find the tranquilizer at Christian's apartment?

Answer: sock drawer

Det. McGraw looked in the sock drawer and, pointing out the immaculately folded rows of socks to Sean and Julia, called it "scary obsessive-compulsive neat, which is always about trying to hide something." She then felt around in the drawer and pulled out a bottle of "tranquilizer: the same type the Carver uses to paralyze his victims." When Sean went to see Christian in jail after this, it was clear he suspected Christian really was the Carver and seemed unwilling to put their business on the line to pay Christian's legal fees.
9. Who leaked Christian's arrest to the media?

Answer: Christian

When Christian got back to the office, Sean shared his anger that Andrea Hall had reported the story when there was so little evidence to back it up. He suggested taking legal action against the news station because the story had cost them so much business. Christian then revealed that he'd leaked the information himself using his single phone call.

He told Sean that he'd done it because he knew "the real Carver would hate not getting credit for his own work." Sean was horrified that Christian had essentially caused another Carver attack, but Christian seemed to have made peace with what he'd done out of desperation to be cleared of the false charges.
10. Who was the latest Carver victim?

Answer: Det. McGraw

Just after Christian and Sean's confrontation, Liz walked in to announce that the latest Carver victim was waiting in Christian's office. He went in, sat down, and asked, "Tell me what you don't like about yourself." Then it was revealed that the victim was a much-chagrined Det. McGraw!
