Michael had to get on the roof of the prison in order to be sure. Abruzzi offered to give his opinion, but Michael knew he had to get up there and make sure himself. He stayed behind in Warden Pope's office, and used a previously locked route to get atop the roof.

His absence was reported, causing an escape warning to activate the prison staff. Michael watched English and Fitz Streets and Percy Avenue to see which would be left free of police cars once the alarm had been sounded for an escape. It turned out that Fitz was left empty. Michael made his way back into the warden's office in time to avoid revealing his intent.

In the end, Pope decided to allow Michael to stay and reveal the truth to his wife himself.

She was not at all happy to hear about the failure of Michael's transfer, so she ordered that Lincoln be murdered as soon as possible. She said that the electric chair was not the only way to take a life in prison. Patricia Wettig plays the mysterious lady.

She is listed as the Cutter. In one episode she was the Garlic Cutter and in another the Pepper Cutter. She has to be the one behind the murder of Terrance Steadman, maybe his wife?

He points out each place on the devil's reflection that he and Sucre need to use the hand blender on. I always called this device an egg beater as a child, and Sucre also uses this same term. Sucre is nervous at first because the devil is a superstitious symbol to him.

This pipe does contain active gas lines, according to Michael, so they do need to be very careful.

According to Sucre, the only for sure things in life were death, taxes and count. He told Michael one way, maybe the only way, to stop count was to cause a lock down. He said even the bulls (guards) did not walk into the cell block during a lock down.

It was also his idea for Michael to make his way to the air conditioner and disabled it. The heat would fire up the inmates and could result in the needed lock down. It worked, but the inmates were "locked down" outside of their cells and got loose into the prison.

The prison doctor came up to the fence and told Michael she'd found out that Lincoln was his brother. She said she could, and would, arrange for Michael's appointments to start at the end of Lincoln's weekly physical. That way they could at least see each other in passing.

Easily the rudest and meanest of the guards seen thus far, Bellick humiliates Teddy infront of all the irate inmates climbing the cage. He crudely reported that Teddy's mother was a "mongoloid" girl raped by her older brother, and nine months later little Teddy popped out.

This causes such fury inside Teddy that he and the other inmates break down the cage and gain access to the guard's office. This leads the dangerous men into the prison, with keys to get wherever they needed to be.

Seth was given to Teddy earlier in the episode, after Teddy returned from the infirmary. He was not present when Michael and Sucre returned to their cell. Instead they find Teddy inside with a badly beaten rookie C.O. and Abruzzi watching over the two of them.

He demanded to either be a part of the escape or he'd sing like Johnny Cash. Abruzzi made it clear that Teddy could be killed, but Teddy swore he'd tell as many people as possible before his blood ran out.

She'd kept a level head and was treating inmates during the riots, but they finally decided to attack her instead. She locked herself into the adjoining room, but as the episode ended several violent men were making their way in with her. She is the daughter of the governor and Warden Pope is under a lot of pressure to get her out safely. Michael wants to save her because she is a decent human being that he cares about, and he is not really a criminal at all.
