Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On 'Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids', what was the name of the crime-fighting space hero who joined the show in 1979?

Answer: Brown Hornet

Fat Albert and friends would race to the clubhouse whenever his show came on, for another adventure-slash-morality lesson.
2. What was the name of the robotic maid on 'The Jetsons'?

Answer: Rosie

She was eerily reminiscent of the robot-maid Irona on 'Richie Rich'. Come to think of it, Astro was sort of a futuristic 'Scooby-Doo'.
3. On 'Where are You Scooby-Doo'?, the team of four human heroes were named Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and....?

Answer: Fred

It seemed that he and the sexy Daphne were always sneaking off together to 'go look for the bad guy', but maybe I read too much into it.
4. I was a 70's cartoon character shaped like a blob, looked sort of like a white seal with legs, and could transform myself into just about anything. Who was I?

Answer: Shmoo

'The New Shmoo' didn't prove too popular, I guess, because he ended up sharing the spotlight with Fred and Barney on a later show--in which he was inexplicably changed into a policeman!
5. What was Hong Kong Phooey's occupation when he wasn't fighting crime ninja-style?

Answer: Janitor

Penrod Pooch, aka 'the number one super guy' almost always needed assistance from his cat, Spot.
6. Which of the following was NOT the name of a canine sidekick on 'Scooby Doo'?

Answer: Mystery Mutt

All the novelty add-on characters were annoying, but Scrappy-Doo, with his squeaky voice and overly cheerful demeanor had to be the worst!
7. In the cartoon 'Rocket Robinhood', where did the futuristic characters live?

Answer: New Sherwood Asteroid

'Blame Canada' for that pathetic cartoon. It actually still runs here once in a while.
8. Captain Caveman could fly with a magical club.

Answer: True

'Captain Ca-a-a-a-a-v-e-m-a-n!' Somehow, he obtained the power from his magical prehistoric club.
9. On 'The Harlem Globetrotters', the gang was chauffeured around in a bus driven by what?

Answer: an old woman

Simply called 'Granny', the woman was always accompanied by her faithful companion-dog, 'Dribbles'.
10. What was the name of Underdog's girlfriend?

Answer: Polly Purebred

Polly worked as a television reporter, while poor old Underdog had to toil away as a shoe shine boy in his downtime.
11. A few years after 'The Pink Panther' went off the air, it returned in the form of 'Pink Panther and Sons'. Who of the following was NOT one of the sons?

Answer: Punky

The original character was not a children's cartoon, of course, but the animated cat from the start of 'Inspector Clouseau' movies.
12. What was the name of the professor on Richie Rich?

Answer: Professor Keenbean

Like Q in James Bond films, Keenbean fashioned sophisticated gadgets for the wealthy pre-teen aimed at facilitating his crimefighting.
13. The girls from 'Josie and the Pussycats' came back to TV in a later series set in which location?

Answer: Outer Space

The new incarnation--which featured their space pet 'Bleep'--must not have been a crowd pleaser, as it was yanked after a short run.
14. Jim Backus, better known as Mr. Howell on 'Gilligan's Island' was also the voice of which cartoon character?

Answer: Mr. Magoo

Backus lent his voice for many versions of the show, including the seventies' 'What's new Mr. Magoo?'
15. What tune was performed by Archie, Reggie and the gang that actually hit the charts as a popular song?

Answer: Sugar Sugar

That song, of course, was by The Archies, the real life counterparts of the cartoon band. Hope you had fun with this look back at classic cartoons.
