Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From the first episode of the new season on Netflix featuring Jonah Ray (as Jonah Heston), Tom Servo says "Nothing says 'international' like a picture of the U.S. Capitol Building" while watching the opening credits to what film?

Answer: Reptilicus

Jonah and the bots watch a Danish monster movie titled "Reptilicus" about a dragon-like monster that attacks Denmark. The riff is in reference to a film company called American International Pictures with what appears to be the U.S. Capitol Building as its logo.
2. While watching a particularly strange film, Mike (Michael Nelson) comments on a character fiddling around with a clothes drawer by saying "I don't care if I'm too old. I'm getting my Batman pajamas back out of here." What movie were they watching?

Answer: The Final Sacrifice

Mike and the bots "comment" on a Canadian film titled "Final Sacrifice." One of the characters is seen looking through a dresser drawer to find information about his father's death. "Final Sacrifice" is about a cult in Canada seeking a final human sacrifice.
3. While Joel (Joel Hodgson) and the bots are forced to watch a horrible sword-and-sandal movie, Tom says "Oh, looks like they bagged their limit today, huh." What film were they watching?

Answer: Hercules Against the Moon Men

Tom is referring to several characters in the film that are chained together as human sacrifices to an alien guarded by rock monsters that comes from the moon. Joel and the bots are "tortured" by a pointless sandstorm scene in the film (referred to by the Mads as "deep hurting").
4. Jonah and the bots take on a bland sci-fi flick featuring a team of scientists trapped 100 years into the future. "Ladies and gentlemen, the Bland-tastic Four," says Crow, describing the protagonists in which film?

Answer: The Time Travelers

The "Bland-tastic Four" describes the film's four protagonists dressed in what can be described as bland attire as they set to free themselves from a dangerous future in which they would face a lack of resources and attacks from humanoid creatures (that kind of look like the Coneheads).
5. "Second verse, same as the first," states Tom as Mike and the bots are listening to Paul Anka sing a cringe-worthy version of "Ave Maria" in what movie that also features Mamie Van Doren and Mel Torme?

Answer: Girls Town

Jimmy Parlow (Paul Anka) tries to help the sister of juvenile delinquent Silver Morgan (Mamie Van Doren), who is living at the titular "Girls Town." The film was one of many exploitation films made during the 50s and 60s.
6. "You know, this is the slowest car chase scene I've seen," states Joel as he and his robot buddies are forced to watch one of the worst films ever made (also possibly the most popular "MST3K" episode). What movie were they watching?

Answer: Manos: the Hands of Fate

At the beginning of the film, there are cars driving along on a highway at a slow pace, prompting Joel to make that riff. "Manos" was so bad that the Mads actually APOLOGIZED for forcing Joel and the bots to watch it.
7. "Somewhere in these mountains, Roman Polanski is hiding from extradition," says Crow as he, Jonah, and Tom watch a horrible disaster flick starring Rock Hudson and Mia Farrow. What movie is the riff from?

Answer: Avalanche

Jonah and the bots lament that the titular avalanche doesn't "arrive" until much later in the film. Due to Mia Farrow starring in the movie, there are riffs that make reference to the men that she had married.
8. "Two different plaids? Man, I'm a naked robot and even I know that's a fashion no-no," says Tom as he and his friends watch a confusing sci-fi film about time travel and corporate greed. What is this film?

Answer: Time Chasers

The fashion faux pas Tom was referring to was the reporter wearing two kinds of plaid that were the same color but had different patterns. "Time Chasers" features a teacher who invents a time traveling airplane and gets caught up in all sorts of "Doctor Who" type paradoxes (hence the "Doctor Who" reference in the answer choices).
9. "He flies like a moron," sings Crow as he, Mike, and Tom are watching what seems to be a "Superman" knock-off. What is this movie?

Answer: The Pumaman

A mild-mannered college professor is soon transformed into "Puma Man" by wearing a magical belt and can "fly," unlike real pumas. Mike and the bots' main complaint is that the guy can't fly real well (he is often hunched over and flailing his arms).
10. Joel and the bots watch a sci-fi film featuring a caveman (stuck in the 20th century) who, according to Joel, "went to the Torgo school of fondling." What film, starring Richard Kiel, is this?

Answer: Eegah

The movie is about a caveman, Eegah (Richard Kiel), stuck in modern day California. He kidnaps a man and his teen daughter and tries to seduce the latter by touching her hair and grabbing her but to no avail (hence the "Manos" reference with Torgo doing the same thing).
