quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first episode, "Skeleton On The Dunny", what does the ghost, Ned, help the Twist children to find?

Answer: A painting

Ned is a ghost who haunts the outdoor toilet - the dunny - at the lighthouse. He is first seen by Bronson, and later by Pete and Linda, who resolve to confront him. After a number of failed confrontations with Ned, the children eventually realise that he means them no harm. Ned stole a painting belonging to Nell's family before he died, and just wants to return it and redeem himself.
2. In "Birdsdo", what precious gems do Pete and Linda try to find, in order to help Nell pay her mortgage?

Answer: Rubies

Nell's family had previously owned some very valuable rubies, which had long since gone missing. With Nell in hospital, and Harold Gribble determined to take advantage of the situation to repossess her house, Pete and Linda set out to find the rubies for her.

After discovering a shack on the beach, they are attacked by hundreds of seagulls, who literally bury the shack in droppings. Pete and Linda eventually discover the ghost of a seagull, whose body had been stuffed and mounted inside the shack. On helping the ghost gull reunite with its body, it rewards them with the rubies, which were hidden inside its body.
3. In "Birdsdo", what is unusual about the dragon egg Bronson finds?

Answer: It is square

Nell is temporarily held in the hospital for insisting that there is a dragon living in a cave on the beach. In order to keep Bronson out of the way while they search for the rubies, Pete and Linda send him on a wild goose chase to collect evidence of the dragon. To everyone's surprise, the dragon does exist, and Bronson narrowly escapes with his life. Taking a strange square object from the cave back to the hospital with him, everyone witnesses a baby dragon hatching.
4. In "A Good Tip For Ghosts", what is the ghost at the rubbish dump really trying to find?

Answer: His teeth

Gribble tells Pete and Linda that the tip is haunted by the ghost of an elderly man known as Old Man Chompers. He tells them that, according to legend, Old Man Chompers' ghost wanders the tip at night, trying to find his lost grandchildren - twins, like Pete and Linda.

When the twins venture to the tip at night, so that Pete can prove himself to Gribble, they are indeed chased by the ghost, but they eventually discover that he actually only wants his false teeth. He is so grateful to Pete and Linda for helping him that he does them a favour in return, and scares Gribble.
5. At the end of "The Cabbage Patch Fib", what do the Twists replace the cabbages with?

Answer: Onions

In an attempt to avoid explaining to Bronson where babies come from, Tony tells him they come from the cabbage patch. When Bronson goes to investigate this, he discovers a green-skinned baby who holds his breath and turns blue if anyone other than Bronson holds him.

After realising how exhausting it is to be a parent, Bronson returns the baby to the cabbage patch, where he is retrieved by a green-skinned woman who rises out of the ground inside a giant cabbage. The next morning, the family digs up all the cabbages and replaces them with onions.
6. In "Spaghetti Pig Out", who is the first person to get frozen by the remote control?

Answer: Linda

Pete first discovers that their TV remote can also control real life when he accidentally pauses Nell's cat. While Tony goes to fetch Nell, the three children fight and Linda gets paused. The remote control is later stolen by Gribble, who uses it to fast forward Rabbit during a spaghetti eating contest. Rabbit inevitably throws up after eating so much and Pete gets his revenge by using the rewind button.
7. In "The Gum Leaf War", what is the name of the woman who Linda goes to stay with?

Answer: Aunt Tuneless

After breaking her nose and having to go for surgery, Linda worries that she will be permanently disfigured. Whilst under anaesthetic, she dreams that she runs away to the countryside to live with her Aunt Tuneless, who looks a great deal like Nell.
8. In "The Gum Leaf War", which kind of disaster temporarily brings the warring families together?

Answer: Fire

Aunt Tuneless has an ongoing feud with her neighbour, Foxy. As well as using homemade catapults to fling debris and dried cow dung at each other, they also use the leaves from a magical gum tree to pass their injuries and illnesses on to each other. When Foxy's house catches alight during a bush fire, Aunt Tuneless joins with her enemy and helps him to save his home. Linda believes this will end their war, especially seeing as the gum tree has been burned, until she learns that it will grow back in no time at all.
9. In "Santa Claws", how many wishes are each of the Twists granted?

Answer: Two

After finding Santa number 115302 on the roof of the school and unwittingly helping him, Pete is granted two wishes each for himself and his immediate family. Tony uses his wishes to go on a date with Fay. Pete uses his to bring his favourite pop singer to the lighthouse, then to send her back again. Bronson wishes to be a giant, then to revert back to normal. Linda uses her first wish to get rid of the creepy Santa. Thinking it's all over, she later jokingly says to Pete, "I wish you didn't have such a big mouth", resulting in his mouth being shrunk to a tiny size.
10. In "Wunderpants", Pete's underpants give him superpowers. Which of the following is NOT one of the things he does with his powers?

Answer: Kicks a football through the wall of the school

Pete dries his underpants in the microwave in his rush to get to school on time and unwittingly gives himself superpowers. Before realising what has happened, he manages to send a crack up the length of the lighthouse because he slams the door so hard.

He also pushes Gribble into a wall in the changing rooms with such force that Gribble's head goes through the wall into the girls' changing room next door. After playing in the sea, Pete is trapped in the nude when the underpants shrink. He manages to find his way back to school, where he puts the miniature underpants on Bronson's frog, Loopy Leaper, ensuring his victory in a seemingly unwinnable frog race.
11. In "Lucky Lips", Pete acquires a lipstick which, when worn, gives any female an uncontrollable desire to kiss him. Which of the following animals succumb to the lipstick's powers and attempt to kiss Pete?

Answer: Pigs

After failing to get a kiss from Fiona at the end of a school dance, Pete meets with a gypsy woman who gives him the mysterious lipstick. Its powers affect all females, including his teacher, his twin sister and some female pigs at a fair. The lipstick is stolen by Gribble, just as the ancient gypsy returns to collect it and succumbs to its powers, chasing Gribble up the street.
12. In "Know All", the Twists help the ghost of a long-dead clown reunite with his lost love. At the end of the episode, what does the clown have underneath his hat?

Answer: A guinea pig

A chest of old circus clothes wash up on the beach. When each of the Twists put on one of the outfits, they gain powers. Pete wears an acrobat's outfit and becomes able to ride a unicycle and balance on a tightrope. Tony wears a fortune teller's outfit and becomes able to see the future. Linda wears a female clown outfit and is overwhelmed by sadness.

A male clown outfit is put on the scarecrow, which comes to life and chases Linda. After learning from Nell that, in life, the male clown was in love with the female clown but was broken hearted when she left the circus and then died, the Twists put the female clown outfit on a mannequin.

The mannequin comes to life as the scarecrow did and the two leave to join another circus.
13. In "The Copy", Linda makes a duplicate of herself in order to cheat during an endurance race up and down the lighthouse. Who is manning the checkpoint at the top of the lighthouse?

Answer: Mr Snapper

The children discover a machine hidden at the top of the lighthouse, which creates a mirror-image duplicate of everything put inside it. After swearing never to use it, all three break their promise. Bronson duplicates food, Pete makes money and posters, and Linda makes herself a twin - dubbed Adnil after the name on the duplicate's sweater is reversed.

After Linda and Adnil win the race, they head off on a train with Linda's crush, Hugh, only to find that he is vain and rude. They leave him and head home and learn that unless the copied items are sent back, both the copy and the original will decay and die.

Whilst Linda and Adnil fight, both wanting to sacrifice themselves, the machine blows up, destroying all the copies, including Adnil.
14. In "Without My Pants", what is the name of Ben Byron's dog?

Answer: Shovel

Ben Byron was killed in the ocean many years previously after jumping in to rescue his dog, Shovel. Pete meets Shovel, now a ghost, and when he touches her he becomes inflicted with a speech impediment that compels him to say the phrase "without my pants" at the end of every sentence.

This continues until he and his siblings find all the bones, boots, and clothes belonging to Ben Byron and assemble them in his grave. This episode is notable for featuring the author of the stories the first two seasons of "Round The Twist" were based on, Paul Jennings, in the cameo role of Ben Byron.
15. In "Lighthouse Blues", what is the name of the ghost of Nell's little sister, who helps Bronson and the Twists save the lighthouse?

Answer: Sarah

In every episode of this series, there is a reference to strange music coming from the top floor of the lighthouse, but whenever anyone enters the room, the music stops and nothing is in the room. After denying hearing the music for a long time, Nell eventually admits that it is being played by the ghosts of her family - her mother, her father, her brother Tom, and her small sister Sarah. Sarah appears to Bronson and Mrs Gribble, swearing Bronson to secrecy, but when the lighthouse is threatened by a developer who wants to destroy it, the ghosts work alongside the Twists to save their home.
