The show wouldn't be the same without Redd Foxx. He continued to play Fred Sanford throughout the sequel to "Sanford and Son".

Of course, Ms. Ray, played another character on "Sanford and Son" years earlier as the wife of Fred's cousin, whose name happened to be Grady, long before Whitman Mayo became Grady.

However, while Fred was going through all his documents, Cal came upon the marriage license and told Fred how everything happened, that he was married to Esther. One of the most hilarious episodes of the show.
