Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why are Scooby and Shaggy invited to participate in the London 2012 Invitational Games?

Answer: Their running skills

Diane, a representative for the World Invitational Games, invites Scooby and Shaggy to join in on the games after she sees them sprint away from a monster. The 2012 World Invitational Games in London, England are a parody of the 2012 Olympics, which had its opening ceremony on the same day this episode aired in the US.
2. Why does Fred lie about being a pole vaulter?

Answer: He wants to impress Steve Looker

In addition, it's worth noting that another reason is likely because Daphne and Velma were intrigued by Steve and Fred is jealous of them.
3. What is the name of the movie which Shaggy and Scooby watch in the hotel room?

Answer: Gladiatorsaurus

Shaggy and Scooby were watching a marathon of Gladiatorsaurus just as the living statue of Fortius attacked.
4. Why does Fred's pole break when he tries to pole vault?

Answer: Someone had cut and glued it

Velma discovers this after Fred's pole breaks and becomes suspicious of the other pole vaulters for sabotaging Fred.
5. Which of the following clues does the gang find in this episode?

Answer: Tire tracks

The gang finds several mysterious tire tracks before they are chased by Fortius.
6. Why is Shaggy worried about winning the World Invitational Games?

Answer: He is worried he won't be scared enough to run fast

The gang concocts an idea to scare Shaggy into running fast, which mirrors a scene in "The New Scooby-Doo Movies" where Fred did the same thing to Shaggy and Scooby. They were also called "World's Greatest Athletes" in that episode as well, along with guest star Tim Conway.
7. Fortius attacks the stadium while Shaggy is attempting to run in the Games.

Answer: True

This allows the gang to have the perfect opportunity to trap Fortius, which they do and unmask him.
8. Who is Fortius?

Answer: Jack Riggins

Jack is not actually in the Fortius costume. The statue is a programmed robot which he piloted and hid inside.
9. What is the culprit's motive?

Answer: Prevent Steve Looker from breaking the record

Steve Looker is close to breaking the pole vaulting record, and Jack Riggins did not want Steve to break the previous pole vaulting record, which he held.
10. Steve Looker breaks the record for pole vaulting at the end of this episode.

Answer: True

As he promised Shaggy, Steve breaks the previously held record for pole vaulting and celebrates with the gang.
