In the beginning of the season finale, either Lex or Lionel Luthor say that things are calm in Smallville right now (both weather-wise and atmosphere-wise), but that a storm's coming, foreshadowing things that are to come. This prediction is proven correct, when a tornado twists into Smallville, and a slew of events hit Smallville (e.g. Lana gets stuck in the twister, Clark leaving Chloe and running to save Lana, Lionel Luthor getting crushed by a pillar with only Lex being able to save him, and Roger Nixon finding Clark's spaceship.) The dramatic conclusion to these cliffhangers will be revealed on September 24, 2002, when the second season premieres.
