Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the show "Parks and Rec" take place?

Answer: Pawnee, Indiana

"Parks and Rec" takes place in the fictional city of Pawnee, Indiana. Pawnee has a very spotty past, and a lot of the citizens are very interesting characters. The city split in two in the past, and all of the wealthier citizens live in Eagleton, the bitter rivals of Pawnee.

Scranton, PA is the setting of the show "The Office".

Whereas they do visit Indianapolis a couple times, the show does not take place there. Toledo is mentioned in one episode, but is never a setting in the show.
2. Andy Dwyer's band changes names several times throughout the show (mainly in the first season). Of the following options, which of these is the most consistent name that the band uses?

Answer: Mouse Rat

Believe it or not, all of these have been names of their band at one point or another. Whereas Nothing Rhymes with Orange and Department of Homeland Obscurity are never the band's names in the course of the show, Andy lists them as past names. The band does go by Scarecrow Boat for a few episodes in season one, but then they switch back to Mouse Rat, which is what they stay as throughout the course of the show.
3. What two characters celebrate Treat Yo' Self annually?

Answer: Tom and Donna

Treat Yo' Self is a celebration by Tom and Donna that encourages them to buy and do whatever they want for a day. Whether that be spas, clothing, shoes, or pedicures, the two of them do everything on this day. They bring Ben along once when he was feeling sad, and he treated himself to a Batman costume.
4. Which of the following men NEVER date Ann Perkins?

Answer: Ben Wyatt

When the show starts, Ann is dating Andy. She basically has to take care of him entirely, because he is solely reliant on her. They break up, and Andy still tries to go after her until he realizes that he is in love with April.

What started as a joke, Ann does date Tom for a few episodes. They fight constantly, and break up almost every couple of days, but they did stay together for nearly half of a season.

Ann dates Chris for most of the third season, but then he breaks up with her. Chris, being too nice of a person, doesn't relay very well that they are breaking up, and Ann continues to believe that they are dating even after they broke up. Then, in season five, Ann wants a baby, and she asks Chris to be the father. This allows them to get back together, and they get married and leave the show in season six.
5. Which animals terrorize the citizens of the town throughout the course of the series?

Answer: Raccoons

Raccoons are the creatures that harass the people of Pawnee. In one episode, Leslie claims that, "They have their part of the town, and we have ours."
6. In the episode "Road Trip" in season three, a little girl comes to the Parks Department looking for help writing her report on the government. Ron decides to help her gain a better understanding of government. Which president does he say ruined the country?

Answer: FDR

Ron Swanson is a self-proclaimed libertarian, who believes that the government should keep their hands out of everything, and that a person should be left with their personal liberties left untouched. He explains that the government tries to take everything from people, prompting the little girl to say "well that's not fair", and he tells her that she's getting it.

In a cut back to the two of them, Ron tells her "And that, Lauren, is how FDR ruined this country." What he was talking to her about exactly is unknown, but if you know the character, you can guess.
7. Which famous politician NEVER has a speaking line in this show?

Answer: Hillary Clinton

As a surprise to Leslie, Ben calls in a few favors for her to have a meet and greet with Vice President Joe Biden. He tells her that he is thrilled to meet her, but Leslie (being obsessed with Joe Biden) freezes up and ends up embarrassing herself.

While Ben is in DC, he has Leslie come to a party with a lot of famous senators and representatives. Leslie freaks out and ends up crying in the closet. Senator John McCain comes up to her and asks if she's alright, but she told him to leave her alone, with her back to him. She never saw who it was, but would have probably reacted differently if she had seen who it was.

When Ron, Andy, Ben, Tom, Jerry and Chris have a bachelor party for all of them, they get a reservation at a restaurant that Ron wanted to visit. Jerry accidentally sits down at the 'Gingrich' table, believing that they meant "Gurgich". Representative Newt Gingrich then comes up and Jerry gets up, embarrassed, and Newt manages a joke at Jerry's expense.

Secretary Hillary Clinton is in a picture in Leslie's office for most of the show, but she is never actually in the show.
8. Which of the following is NOT a term that Leslie uses to call Ann?

Answer: You are literally the only person on the planet that matters.

Leslie constantly compliments Ann, who always takes the sometimes-strange comments well. Many of the terms are odd (or endearing?), but not once does she tell Ann that she is the only person on the planet that matters. Plus, Chris Traeger's line is "literally", which I added in there to try to show that it wasn't the correct response.
9. What kind of car did Jean-Ralphio get run over by to collect the insurance payment from?

Answer: Lexus

Jean-Ralphio was run over by a Lexus. This comes in an interview with Tom. Jean-Ralphio states that he made his money the old-fashioned way, which was getting run over by the Lexus. If you've seen the show, you should be able to picture him singing the part about getting run over while he holds his hand to the side of his mouth.
10. Councilman Jeremy Jamm is one of the antagonists during Leslie's term as city councilwoman. What was Jamm's profession outside of being a councilman?

Answer: Orthodontist

Jeremy Jamm, with his catchphrase "you just got Jammed", was an orthodontist. He terrorizes Leslie during her time as a councilwoman, and the two of them compete to get projects done. The biggest fight the two had was over the lot that Leslie wanted to turn into a park. Jamm wanted it to be a Paunch Burger, so that the people's teeth would be worse, and he would be able to make more money off of them.

In another episode, he tries to stop Leslie from putting fluoride in the water, another attempt at keeping people's teeth in poor condition.
11. Andy eventually became a children's show star, where he practiced martial arts, played music, and tried to teach kids helpful life lessons. What was the name of Andy's television show persona?

Answer: Johnny Karate

Johnny Karate was a name given to him by Craig while Andy was performing at a birthday party. Andy's performance takes off, with him performing a lot of shows for kids' birthday parties. This success ends in a TV show. One of the final episodes of Parks and Rec was the final episode of Johnny Karate, and every character was involved in some way.
12. In the episode "The Fight", the majority of the characters get extremely intoxicated by Tom's alcohol creation, Snakejuice. Donna, one of the only ones not to drink the Snakejuice, drives almost everyone home, but she didn't have room for everyone. Who does she end up tying to the roof of the car?

Answer: Jerry

"Ann took a cab, Tom's in the trunk, Jerry's on the roof. Alright, where to first?" Donna asks Ron once they all get in. This quote was preceded by one of the funniest montages in the show, as we get to see everyone reacting to the Snakejuice. Leslie is crying, Ann is confrontational, Andy is singing, April is yelling in rapid-fire Spanish, Jerry is laughing hysterically, Tom is overly self-confident, and Ben is slap-happy. Everyone is majorly hungover the next day, and later it is said that the FDA banned Snakejuice.
13. Who is Leslie's main competition when she runs for city council?

Answer: Bobby Newport

Bobby Newport, hilariously played by Paul Rudd, was a clueless man who was only running for city council because he was trying to impress his father. His family owns Sweetums, the candy company that employs half of the city and keeps many of the Pawnee citizens obese. Bobby never really knows what's happening around him, and he seemed thrilled when Leslie beat him for the councilman job. Even though he's to Leslie, you couldn't help but like Bobby because of how genuinely clueless and well-meaning he was.

Jeremy Jamm was already on the city council, and plays an antagonist to Leslie and her efforts to better Pawnee.

Perd Hapley is a talk-show host, who states the obvious all of the time.

Marcia Langman is one of the most annoying characters in the show, her overbearing self always trying to stop Leslie.
14. In the second season, the members of the Parks department compete to dig up dirt on each other, trying to see who has the spottiest past. Mark tells Jerry that his adopted mother got arrested for marijuana possession. What part of this news was a shock to Jerry?

Answer: That he was adopted.

This game was started after Councilman Dexhart was revealed to be having an affair in South America. Tom said that he had a clean past, prompting Mark to dig up dirt on him. It spread throughout the department and a bunch of secrets were revealed, such as Donna voting for the leader of the KKK for president, Tom hitting on women even though he's married, and Mark having an unpaid parking ticket. No one ever tried to dig up dirt on April, who showed a video of herself running through a clothes store on a riding lawn mower.
15. The final season is set in 2017, although the show was filmed in 2014. In the season, they make many predictions about the future. Which of these was NOT a prediction that they made?

Answer: Kevin Hart becoming the next Jason Bourne.

All of these are actually brought up in the show. But, they say that Kevin JAMES starred in the reboot of Jason Bourne, not Kevin Hart. The Chicago Cubs actually did win the World Series that year, ironically, but Lebron never went back to Miami, and Shia Labeouf did not become a wedding dress designer. But, it was still fun watching the show make all of the predictions, and seeing which did and did not come true.
