Stan and Kyle were playing "Guitar Hero" in the Marsh's living room, being cheered on by a group of their friends and Randy Marsh was confused about the game's draw. Sharon Marsh didn't think too highly of the game either, pointing out that "if they spent half the time learning a real instrument as they do playing that game, who knows what they could accomplish?" Inspired by his wife's words, Randy broke out his own guitar equipment and offered to teach them how to play it.

The boys rejected the idea and Cartman told Randy, "Real guitars are for old people."

Their manager took them to the label and played the Kansas song to which they'd scored 100,000 points playing "on expert level in co-op mode." The label executive was impressed and agreed to sign them!

There were topless girls playing in the swimming pool and lots of booze readily available. There was also a guy snorting a huge mound of cocaine off a table in the middle of the party. The label executive introduced the boys to the crowd and then encouraged his guests to have a good time, assuring them that "there's lots more coke and sex in the house."

The manager bragged, "Thad is so good at 'Guitar Hero', he doesn't even need a TV screen. He can play acoustically." Sure enough, Thad played acoustically for Stan at lunch. No one seemed to notice the ridiculousness of playing a soundless controller "acoustically" and the other diners even commented that they loved the song and started clapping along. Ultimately, Stan was impressed enough to agree to take Thad on as his new partner and abandon Kyle.

Stan had returned to the video game store to get some game guides, but the clerk suggested he buy "Heroin Hero" to calm himself down. The clerk told him, "All you do is run around a magical forest and shoot simulated heroin. You could call it the ultimate first person shooter." Not quite sold, Stan asked if there were crowds or a score.

The clerk reassured him, "No, man. All you do is run through the pretty forest and chase a big dragon. But you don't ever catch the dragon. You just... keep chasing it." Stan bought the game and took it home, where it had an immediate calming effect, but also distracted him from rehearsing on "Guitar Hero".

The bowling alley had it as one of the coin-operated video games and Kyle went there to drown his sorrows in music and Fresca. The bowling alley employee noticed Kyle's skills and offered to let him play for free on weekend nights in return for doing a little work around the place.

Everyone noticed he was a mess because he'd "been up for three days straight playing 'Heroin Hero'." Sure enough, Stan could barely get a single note right and the video crowd turned on him, booing him loudly. The real crowd quickly dispersed and the manager chastised Stan, yelling, "You had it all and you blew it! Listen to that video crowd! They hate you!"

The clerk tried to sell him the logical follow up to Stan's last purchase: "Have you played... 'Rehab Hero'? You get chased by a big dragon, but you keep running away from it." Stan insisted instead on "a nice, simple driving game." While playing it at home, Stan was reminded of the good times with Kyle and determined to get him back as his "Guitar Hero" partner.

Randy was in a "Heroin Hero"-induced stupor, lazing on the couch in his underwear, trying to catch the dragon. Stan decisively turned the power on the Xbox off and called his mom to help get rid of Randy, and he and Kyle were able to play their own game again.

After reconciling, they broke a million points and the game declared, "You are [gay]!" Kyle and Stan were annoyed that all their strife had been for so little, threw off the controllers and left the house. Cartman stepped up, asking Butters if he wanted to play with him. Butters agreed, but with a stipulation, "Huh, okay, but I get to be the one who betrays you after the sex and drugs party."
