Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Help Wanted", SpongeBob applies for a job at the Krusty Krab restaurant. Mr. Krabs, thinking he would be incompetent for the job, sends SpongeBob to retrieve a rare spatula with various qualities that he made up on the spot. Does SpongeBob retrieve the spatula?

Answer: Yes

The doubt of SpongeBob's ability to do the fry cook job is planted into Mr. Krabs's head by SpongeBob's unfriendly neighbor, Squidward, who also works at the Krusty Krab as cashier. Thus, to "ensure" SpongeBob does not get the job, Mr. Krabs gives him the "impossible" task of finding him a "hydrodynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments and a turbo-drive feature".

As SpongeBob is away looking for the spatula, the Krusty Krab becomes overrun by very hungry anchovies! Luckily, SpongeBob returns in time with the spatula and saves the day by cooking Krabby Patties for the anchovies. Delighted that he's made so much money, Mr. Krabs hires SpongeBob as fry cook.
2. The episode "Reef Blower" is a short containing no spoken dialogue; instead the only word used in the episode in is the form of a subtitle, "said" by SpongeBob as he points at a clam that Squidward has kicked to his yard. What is this word?

Answer: You!

Squidward wakes up to find the clam in his garden, and, seeing how spotlessly clean SpongeBob's yard is and hating him immensely, he kicks it over. Of course, SpongeBob notices it almost immediately, and gets out his reef blower to get rid of the clam.

Instead, he ends up sucking up all the ocean water and destroying Squidward's house in the process. Sadly, as Squidward looks out from underneath the wreckage, the clam that caused it all to happen floats back down onto his yard where it started!
3. After meeting Texan scientist squirrel Sandy, SpongeBob makes a huge mistake by telling Sandy a lie to impress her. What does he tell her?

Answer: He breathes air and loves it

SpongeBob meets Sandy as she is wrestling with a giant clam. Upon learning that they both like karate, they introduce themselves and perform karate chops on each other's heads. SpongeBob is surprised to find that his hand hits a glass dome around Sandy's head, and asks her why she wears it.

She replies that it is to supply her with air; "I gotta have my air." SpongeBob, not knowing what air is, but wanting to make a good impression on his new friend, replies: "Me too; I love air. Air is good!" At this news, Sandy invites him to her underwater treedome, thinking he will be o.k. with no water. Of course, SpongeBob soon learns that air is not good for him at all!
4. In "Bubblestand", Squidward is infuriated that SpongeBob and Patrick are outside blowing bubbles. SpongeBob shows him the "technique", which makes the bubbles really great. One such bubble ends up engulfing Squidward's house and lifting him high into the sky. Who blew this bubble?

Answer: Squidward

SpongeBob is charging 25 cents to blow a bubble at his bubblestand, and lessons for the same price. Patrick buys a lesson, which turns out to be the above-mentioned technique. Later, when Squidward comes out to see what all the noise is about, he derides the two for playing such immature games, and they skulk off.

At this point, Squidward attempts to blow a bubble secretly, but SpongeBob and Patrick suddenly appear, charging him 25 cents. He pays many times, but still cannot blow a bubble, so SpongeBob shows him the technique, free of charge.

Infuriated, Squidward does the technique to prove it doesn't work, but blows a giant bubble as he screams in rage into the wand - it is this bubble that picks up his house and takes him away.
5. In "Ripped Pants", SpongeBob accidentally rips his pants and is embarrassed until he realizes that everyone thinks he is hilarious. However, he overdoes the joke of ripping his pants so many times that he drives everyone away. Which stunt is the last straw for everyone, including Sandy?

Answer: Pretending to drown

SpongeBob is having a day out at the beach with Sandy, and becomes jealous when Larry the Lobster asks Sandy to hang out with him and lift weights. SpongeBob tries to get Sandy's attention by also lifting weights - although his weight only has marshmallows on it! He struggles so much that he rips his pants. Taking advantage of his newfound popularity, he pulls many pranks including asking for a banana split at the ice cream stand, and proclaiming he has already "split" his pants.

He also performs a surfing trick while ripping his pants.

The final straw is when he pretends to drown - everyone is extremely worried until he says he needs a tailor because he ripped his pants. He makes friends with Sandy again after singing a song about the whole incident with other "losers" on the beach.
6. In "Jellyfishing", SpongeBob and Patrick try to give Squidward his "best day ever" as he is recovering from a bicycling accident. They take him jellyfishing, which is a sport involving catching jellyfish with nets and letting them go. True or False: Squidward catches a jellyfish.

Answer: True

While SpongeBob and Patrick are showing Squidward how to jellyfish, one jellyfish comes and stings him on the nose, and he is eager to catch it in revenge. When he finally does, he cruelly shakes the net back and forth against a "rock" to hurt the jellyfish.

However, the "rock" turns out to be a massive queen jellyfish, which then chases Squidward until it stings him - he ends up in an even worse state than he was after his bicycle accident!
7. In "Plankton", we meet Mr. Krabs's arch enemy, Plankton, who has spent years trying to steal the Krabby Patty formula so his restaurant can sell them, and he can be as successful as Mr. Krabs. He takes control of SpongeBob to steal a Patty and takes it into his restaurant. What is the name of Plankton's restaurant?

Answer: The Chum Bucket

Plankton has never been successful in acquiring the Krabby Patty formula, although he has frequently managed to get a Patty into the Chum Bucket. On this occasion, he implants a machine into SpongeBob's brain to gain total control, and has him steal a Krabby Patty from the Krusty Krab. Plankton's error is hesitating when it comes to getting SpongeBob to put the Patty into his analyzer; SpongeBob's description of the burger sounds so tasty and Plankton ends up falling into the analyzer himself trying to get it. SpongeBob is free to go home.
8. In "Naughty Nautical Neighbors", Squidward's schemes cause SpongeBob and Patrick to fall out, which then cause them to cling to Squidward when he calls them each "friend" after a good deed. What did Patrick do to make Squidward call him a friend?

Answer: Resuscitated him

Squidward is disturbed by the sound of his neighbors laughing and playing as he sits down to enjoy a soufflé he made, so he hatches a cruel plan which involves sending nasty messages in bubbles - SpongeBob and Patrick each think the other is sending the messages, and they break friends. This causes them to fight to be Squidward's best friend instead, and he ends up setting them up at a dinner in his house so they can talk and become friends again.

It was actually SpongeBob who helped Squidward by fixing his back after he threw it out.
9. In "Boating School", SpongeBob is taking his boating exam for the 38th time, and when he fails, he hatches a plan to pass his 39th attempt - someone gives him the instructions through a radio implanted in his head. Who is this "helper"?

Answer: Patrick

Patrick was a smarter character in the early episodes, and the plan to pass the exam was his idea. He puts a walkie-talkie into SpongeBob's head and covers the antenna with a ten-gallon hat. When Patrick speaks, SpongeBob can hear him inside his head.

The exam goes really well, and the finish line is in sight on a straight road. However, Mrs. Puff makes a joke about someone with a radio in their head, getting all the answers from a guy miles away - when she says it would be cheating, SpongeBob freaks out and fails the exam.
10. In "Pizza Delivery", what name does Squidward continually call SpongeBob whenever the latter mentions the pioneers?

Answer: Jethro

SpongeBob and Squidward have to deliver a Krabby Patty pizza to a customer, but when Squidward makes SpongeBob drive, he backs up just a little too much! They end up in the middle of nowhere, without a car (which drives itself away when kicked by Squidward). Exhausted and hungry, they persevere to get the pizza to the customer, "helped" along by SpongeBob's hints from the pioneers.

They even leave the pizza untouched and starve themselves to keep it for the customer - however, the customer isn't very grateful when he finally gets his pizza; they forgot his drink!
