Steve proposes to Laura on the same night that his better looking clone Stephan proposes to her. She accepts Steve's proposal though. When they were younger though he gave her a diamond ring, but not as a proposal.

4. When Steve wrote a short story about someone murdering Rachel, Harriet's siser, who murdered her?

They acted out the story that Steve wrote, and Steve was the detective trying to figure out who killed Rachel. When he was accusing people, the lights would go off and you would hear a gunshot. Then when the lights went back on that person would be dead, until it was just Steve and Laura were left.
