Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the premiere, George and Tessa Altman moved from New York City to this suburban community.

Answer: Chatswin

George (actor Jeremy Sisto) felt that his fifteen year old daughter would be better off raised outside of the big city. Tessa (actress Jane Levy) tried, on many occasions, to convince George to give the city another chance. George wouldn't budge, though he did return himself to work.
2. Tessa met her friend Malik while working on the school newspaper.

Answer: True

The school paper was not well read until Tessa suggested they turn it into a high school tabloid. This change brought Tessa and Malik some temporary popularity, until they agreed to change it back to a normal paper. Maestro Harrell played Malik.
3. Who refused to wear an Amish dress in the episode "Thanksgiving"?

Answer: Lisa

Lisa's mother, played by Ana Gasteyer, insisted Lisa wear the family's traditional Amish clothing, like her cousins would be. Lisa refused, so her brother Ryan refused to cooperate as well. After her extended family arrived, Lisa came down to dinner and revealed her evening wear.

She was going to be nude. She even ran out of their house and down the street, ducking into the Altmans' car when the police came down the street. "Weeds" veteran Allie Grant played Lisa Shay.
4. What did Dallas Royce name her dog, a pet that her daughter Dalia hated?

Answer: Yakult

Yes, she told George that the little white dog was named after her favorite culture drink, the probiotic Yakult. For the next few episodes, the dog's name was said many times by Dallas, Dalia and Steven Royce. Though I do not know for sure, I assumed that Yakult was a sponsor for the show. Toward the end of season one, in "Entering Eden", Dalia's jealousy over Tessa and Yakult got out of hand and she swept Yakult outside. Yakult ended up on her own in East Chatswin. Mr. Wolfe found her, and told his boyfriend Allen that "he" was meant to be their dog. Mr. Wolfe named "him" Hanson. Tessa and Dalia had to chase down Mr. Wolfe and forcibly take back Yakult. Dalia to Dallas: "Yakult was living as a gay male dog in East Chatswin."
5. In "Driving Miss Dalia", Dalia paid Tessa to drive her around so she could stalk a hot guy. What was this guy's name?

Answer: Scott Strauss

Dalia failed her driver's test for the seventh time, and paid Tessa to drive her around just so she could glimpse Scott. She explained that Scott had graduated the year prior and her mother had paid her to leave him alone. Thomas McDonell played Scott. He was also in the 2012 film "Dark Shadows".

In this episode, Dallas said Dalia had failed her test six times, though she'd only claim two due to the temperament of the test givers. Afterward, Dalia failed again, making it her seventh failed test. Tessa dated Scott for a few episodes until he became too boring for her.
6. George won a trip for six to Atlantic City in "The Casino Trip". Of the people who went along with George, which one had a gambling addiction?

Answer: Fred Shay

When the men arrived at their hotel and went into their room, Fred immediately felt the pull of all of the gambling going on downstairs. It was Noah who then pointed out Fred's gambling addiction. Steven and Mr. Wolfe did not go on this trip with George, it was Alex and Tom who went along with he, Noah and Fred. Steven did happen to be there, and not Singapore as Dallas thought, but he was not on the trip with the other men.

Chris Parnell played Fred Shay.
7. What was the name of the South American man, played by Wilmer Valderrama, who dated Dallas in "Fire With Fire"?

Answer: Yoni

Dallas celebrated her divorce in this episode, and she began an affair with a "healer" named Yoni. And, though he mentioned Romania a few times, he did admit he was from South America. Dallas' new glow inspired Noah's wife Jill to leave him and go live with Dallas, as she said the divorce was the cause of most of it. On the advice of a nine year old named AJ, Noah decided to try flirting with other women in front of Jill, but it doesn't work. Truthfully, he barely even tried to make her jealous. At the same time, Tessa commandeered Kimantha to wrangled Lisa away from Dalia. Abbie Cobb, also known to me as Jennie Garth's doppelganger, played Kimantha.

This episode also had a small guest appearance from "Jersey Shore" alum Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, who Dalia claimed was her ex-boyfriend.
8. In "Independence Day", which TV talk show host did Dallas have a crystal bust made to look like?

Answer: Joy Behar

Yep, it was "The View" co-host Joy Behar. Dallas even had conversations with the crystal bust, and with her yappy little dog as well. She invited her old college pals to hang with her, though she excluded the one she really did not like. That turned out to be a snooty woman played by Robin Givens.

In the end, she had to admit that the divorce was hard on her, and her pal George helped her through it.
9. Near the end of season one, we found out that this person was adopted.

Answer: Ryan

While Tessa became a wee bit obsessed with her job at A Crystal Cup of Crystals, and the money that came with it, Lisa overheard a conversation that sent her on an investigation. She overheard her mother talking to Jill Werner about adoption and surrogacy.

She was convinced she herself was adopted. It was glaringly obvious to me that is was that dense but adorable brother of hers, Ryan Shay. Lisa confirmed this herself in the season finale, when she found out her brother's blood type was O+, while her dad's was AB and her mom's was B.
10. Alicia Silverstone played Noah and Jill's surrogate in season one.

Answer: True

In a "Clueless" reunion, Alicia guest starred for several episodes as their surrogate Eden. Eden and George connected instantly, and dated, despite Noah's abhorrence to the idea. Eden went into premature labor in the season finale, when she finally admitted to herself how horrible the Werners really were. Alicia played Cher and Jeremy Sisto played Elton in the 1995 film "Clueless".

They even made a small inside joke about the movie, when the referenced "sucking and blowing", as they played a game in the movie called Suck and Blow. Cher said to Elton, "God Elton, can't you suck?"
