Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many castaways arrived at the island nation of Palau?

Answer: 20

They were unaware that there would be two tribes of nine members each when they arrived at the island. The following morning Jeff Probst informed them how the tribes would be set up. This was the first time to start the show with twenty people.
2. Jeff Probst told the survivors that the first man and woman to reach the beach would win early immunity. Who was the first one to leave the boat?

Answer: Stephenie

Jonathan went into the water after Stephenie. After they jumped in, they saw the boat pull away from them. Jolanda and Ian were the first woman and man to reach the shore.
3. Shortly after they were ashore, they split into groups, one to get water and one to make shelter. How many people were in the water group?

Answer: 4

Caryn was the person who said they should split up into groups to perform the early chores. Caryn counted the people to get the water and she counted five, when they went to get the water there were only four of them, Caryn, Angie, Willard and Coby.
4. Their first morning in Palau, Jeff informed them that they were going to form two tribes with nine members each. They would alternate picks and the person making the pick had to select a team mate of the opposite sex. Ian and Jolanda were the first man and woman to arrive on the beach and won the first immunity. They would be the person that would select the first tribe mate for their tribe. Of the 18 remaining survivors, who was the first one selected to a tribe?

Answer: Katie

Ian had the first pick since he was the first one on the beach. His choice was Katie. Jolanda's pick was Bobby John. Jonathan and Wanda were not selected for a team and left on a boat. Jeff then told the tribes their tribe name. Ian's tribe was Koror and Jolanda's tribe was Ulong.
5. The first challenge of the season was a combined reward and immunity challenge called "Supply Dump". The tribes had several tasks they had to accomplish, one of which included taking supplies they wanted to win. The winning team took the fire and the food supplies.

Answer: False

The winning team was Koror and they took only the supplies to build a fire. Jolanda wanted Ulong to take all that they could. When they realized they were far behind they took what they had untangled which was food and water supplies.
6. Who was the first person voted out of "Survivor: Palau"?

Answer: Jolanda

Katie and Willard were in the Koror tribe. The Ulong tribe voted out Jolanda by a vote of 6-3. Angie received the three votes. The reason for voting out Jolanda was her strong personality and her attempts to be the leader caused them to lose the challenge.
7. After the teams were selected, both tribes stayed at the same camp for a night. Which tribe moved to the new camp on the third day?

Answer: Koror

Koror was given the option when they won the first challenge. They decided that they came to play the game to see new places and they had already seen the first camp. They did not know that their new camp was infested with rats. This made them feel even worse since they lost the supplies that they won in the challenge when their boat was hit by a wave and capsized.
8. The second episode's reward challenge was called "The Gauntlet". The teams had to cross several floating objects without falling in the water. There were two members of the opposite team trying to knock them off with sand bags. How many flags did they have to get across the gauntlet to win the challenge?

Answer: 10

Ulong won this challenge. Angie probably was the best player for her team and helped them to win the challenge. The reward was fins, a mask and a Hawaiian fishing sling. Since Ulong won this challenge, they were also rewarded with a flint to build a fire.
9. For the immunity challenge "Heads Up" the tribes had to swim to a floating dock and once all their members were there they had to drag a foot locker 50 feet. Inside the foot locker were mess kits that contained Morse code and they had to assemble the code to spell out a word. Koror was the last to start pulling their foot locker in since a tribe mate had not arrived to the dock. Who was the last tribe mate to arrive at the dock which put Koror behind to start the challenge?

Answer: Willard

The tribes received tree mail that contained the Morse code so the tribes could study it. They needed to know it for the immunity challenge. Even though Willard took a long time to get to the dock, Koror won the challenge. Tom was the best team mate as he pulled the foot locker across the ocean bottom the most. They also had two tribe members at a time pull the rope in the beginning.
10. Who was the second person voted out of "Survivor: Palau"?

Answer: Ashlee

Ashlee received six votes to be voted off. The main reason the tribe made this decision was that when they had cooked a clam soup, which was the first food they had since they arrived other than coconuts, she did not eat any and she kept to herself that evening. They said they felt she was losing her will to compete.
