Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The year after Ann Sothern's show "Private Secretary" ended its run in 1957, she began another series. What was the name of her second TV series?

Answer: The Ann Sothern Show

Don Porter, Ann Tyrrell, and Ann were the three main performers in both shows. In both series Ann was the clever secretary/assistant, Don was the boss, and Ann was the loopy friend.
2. Anyone watching "The Ed Sullivan Show" on a regular basis would be treated to a visit by Senor Wences. That head in the box... what was his name again?

Answer: Pedro

Senor Wences appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" 48 times. Senor Wences and his team also starred in TV commercials for such items as Pepto Bismol, Parkay Margarine, and Prince Spaghetti.
3. Where would you find Tobermory, Bungo, Tomsk and Orinoco?

Answer: Wimbledon Commons

They are a few of "The Wombles" and they spend much of their time keeping the Commons tidy. In the early 1970s four songs performed by The Wombles became Top 10 hits in Great Britain.
4. In the mid-fifties John Glenn, Jay Silverheels, Eddie Hodges, and others appeared on what show emceed by singer/actor George DeWitt?

Answer: Name That Tune

The earlier version of this show involved racing an opponent and ringing a bell when you recognized the song being played. The winner would then name tunes for a cash prize.
5. Sheila James appeared in multiple episodes in all but one of the following TV shows. Which one did she miss?

Answer: The Facts of Life

Ms. James is probably best known for playing Zelda Gilroy on "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." She appeared in three episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies" as college student Ginny Jennings.
6. Guy Williams was already well known even before he became "Lost In Space" back in 1965. Why was he famous?

Answer: He played Zorro in the Disney TV series

Just before he made it big with "Zorro", Guy had a small part in the 1957 film classic "I Was A Teenage Werewolf." Guy was a cop and Michael Landon was the werewolf in question. Both went on to bigger things.
7. Back in the mid-fifties, a mysterious character called "The Whistler" led us through tales of suspense. How is it he was able to "know many things?"

Answer: He walked by night

The long-time radio and movie series was brought to television in 1954. It only lasted for one season.
8. For three years Lee Marvin was a member of "M Squad". What in the world was that?

Answer: an elite Chicago crime fighting unit

In 1970 Lee had the Number One hit record in England with "Wand'rin Star". The flip-side was "I Talk to the Trees" by Clint Eastwood. These songs were from their film "Paint Your Wagon". I can't sing... but I'm at least as good as these guys.
9. They started in high school and by season three they were in college. What was the college that "Dobie Gillis" and his friends ended up attending?

Answer: S. Peter Pryor Junior College

The series started as "The Loves of Dobie Gillis" but somewhere along the way it was shortened to "Dobie Gillis". Max Shulman, who wrote the original "Dobie Gillis" stories, and scripted the TV show, also wrote the words for the theme song.
10. Who lives at 32 Windsor Gardens?

Answer: Paddington Bear

Before illegal immigration became an issue, Paddington stowed away and somehow made it from darkest Peru to London's Paddington Station. There he was taken in by the Brown Family. Anyone missing this question may be subjected to one of Paddington's hard stares!
