Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Slappy's first cartoon is "Slappy Goes Walnuts". It introduces which phrase that appears in many of her cartoons?

Answer: "Now that's comedy."

She becomes angry and attacks the TV when the network cuts her catchphrase from the end of her old cartoon in order to show commercials. Her other catchphrase is "You remind me of a very young (character)." In this episode, she tells Doug the Dog, "You remind me of a very young Scooby-Doo."
2. Generally speaking, what is the only article of clothing that Slappy wears?

Answer: A green hat with a flower

Following a common cartoon convention, Slappy wears practically nothing all day, yet wears pajamas to bed. She often carries an umbrella and purse, the latter of which can hold anything from handkerchiefs to lit dynamite. She lives in a tree in Burbank, near the Warner lot.
3. Slappy appears in a music video for which song?

Answer: Little Old Lady from Pasadena

In "Little Old Slappy from Pasadena", she terrorizes the town with her driving, and even outruns the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote, just to deliver a letter. The video ends with the police arresting Slappy for her driving. This version of the song is sung by the Beach Boys. She also appears in the "Macarena" spoof "Macadamia Nut", in which she refuses to dance.
4. Who is not one of Slappy's nemeses from her old days in cartoons?

Answer: Lenny Lemur

Walter Wolf is her main rival, though all three remember how she got the better of them in their old cartoons. They remember the name of the cartoon, the director, and the year. They appear in episodes like "Hurray for Slappy", "Scare Happy Slappy", "No Face Like Home", and "Rest in Pieces". Like the Warners, Slappy worked in cartoons in the 1930s (within the "Animaniacs" show, that is), but unlike the Warners, Slappy has aged since then while the Warners have stayed the same.
5. In "I Got Yer Can", what does Candy Chipmunk do that causes Slappy to hassle her?

Answer: Candy won't let Slappy throw away a can in her (Candy's) trash can.

This episode is based on writer and voice actress Sherri Stoner's experiences with a neighbor who wouldn't let Stoner throw away a can in her trash bin. This is also the first episode where Slappy's nephew Skippy says his catchphrase "Spew!"
6. Slappy seems to be quite a sales-squirrel. She hawks all these products except for which?

Answer: Ragamuffin bread

"Buttermilk: It Makes a Body Bitter" is based on the old commercials for milk: "Milk: It does a body good." Buttermilk, on the other hand, makes Slappy feel bitter over being snubbed by a good-looking guy. The Slapper is based on the Clapper and slaps the choir singing about it.

Besides having its own short, Branimaniacs cereal appears in "The Warner's 65th Anniversary Special", where everyone who eats and praises the cereal is immediately paid for the testimonial.
7. Slappy and Skippy go back to the 1700s for "Frontier Slappy". Who wants to cut down her tree for his house?

Answer: Daniel Boone

Throughout the cartoon, a choir sings about Boone and his plans. As it goes on, they become more cynical until Boone fires them, which reveals that the singers are the Dover Boys from Chuck Jones' cartoon of the same name.
8. Slappy and Skippy parody Abbott and Costello's famous "Who's on First" routine with "Who's on Stage" in which cartoon?

Answer: Woodstock Slappy

When Slappy asks for the name of the band on stage, Skippy says, "Who" because The Who are on stage; Slappy thinks he's asking a question, much like in the original Abbott and Costello routine about baseball. They also work in the bands Yes and The Band.
9. Slappy takes Skippy to see a Dodgers game in one cartoon. Who turns out to be performing there instead?

Answer: Three opera singers

Slappy eventually gets revenge for the lack of baseball by calling on Steven Spielberg, the show's executive producer, to parody a scene from his film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". In the film, an alien ship sends out a series of five notes, and the people of Earth respond with the same notes.

In "Three Tenors and You're Out", Slappy's ship plays the first four notes of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game". The singers try to keep up with the notes, but eventually pass out.
10. In the crossover "Baghdad Café", Slappy does what to leader Sodarn Hinsane?

Answer: She shoves dynamite down his pants.

"Here, have some dynamite down yer pants." She gets sick of the script, which casts her in Dot's part, and pulls dynamite out of her purse to get out of the scene. In the earlier cartoon, "Bumbie's Mom", she threatens to do this to someone at the movie theater, so this cartoon is something of a payoff to that line.
11. In one musical cartoon, Slappy and Skippy try to open a walnut to what famous music?

Answer: The Nutcracker

The pieces used in "Nutcracker Slappy" include "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Dance of the Reed Flutes", "Chinese Dance", and "Russian Trepak". The show-within-the show is directed by Charlton Woodchuck from "Hollywoodchuck". Slappy says that Skippy has a deal to direct when he's older. Nathan Ruegger, the voice actor for Skippy, later did direct a short film called "Another Life".
12. In "Bully for Skippy", Skippy tells her it was the worst day ever. Slappy thinks he means that Mel Brooks made a sequel to "Robin Hood: Men in Tights". What does he actually mean?

Answer: Someone at school is bullying him.

The "Animaniacs" creators sometimes had troubles with the censors; this is one of the episodes that directly insults the media watchdogs, who are portrayed here as actual dogs. Skippy's counselor wants him to deal with the bully by using psychology, whereas Slappy is in favor of over-the-top violence. Guess whose plan works. (Hint: it's Slappy's.)
13. What is Slappy's only full-length episode called?

Answer: One Flew Over the Cuckoo Clock

Slappy goes insane from watching too many talk shows and is put in a home. Skippy is left on his own and is eventually put in an orphanage, from which Slappy rescues him when she comes to her senses. This cartoon implies that Slappy takes sole care of Skippy, rather than caring for him occasionally as an aunt.

Sherri Stoner once did an interview with Internet reviewer Doug Walker, aka The Nostalgia Critic, both as herself and as Slappy. During the Slappy part, she says that Skippy's parents are on sabbatical and send her a check every month.

While this interview is not show canon, it does offer an explanation for why we never see Skippy's parents.
14. Slappy's last cartoon is "The Christmas Tree". What happens in this episode?

Answer: Her tree is chosen as the tree to decorate Rocky Fellow Center.

Slappy's tree is rerouted from Burbank, California, to New York City; Slappy naturally wants her tree put back. Slappy and Skippy change sizes during this episode; for part of it, they are their normal sizes, but when they go to talk to the executives, they appear much smaller.
15. What is one of the running jokes in Slappy's cartoons?

Answer: She's aware that she's in a cartoon.

In "No Face Like Home", she tells Skippy why she's getting plastic surgery, then says to the camera, "Does that hammer the plot home for ya?" She flat-out says in the beginning of "Scare Happy Slappy" that she and Skippy have to do a cartoon. She also knows when she's in a cameo role, such as in "A Christmas Plotz", where she hates that the studio has cast her in a spoof of Jacob Marley from "A Christmas Carol".

She then loses a script page and demands $464 dollars for her cameo role.
