Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Early in the fourth season, Sheldon and Amy decided to part ways after disagreeing over whose work was more important. In his post-'break up' depression, Sheldon got a bunch of cats that he named after scientists. There was one exception; what was that cat's name?

Answer: Zazzles

Having met at the end of the third season, Sheldon and Amy were getting along famously, to the annoyance of his friends who didn't really care for her. In "The Zazzy Substitution", when Amy said that she didn't think Sheldon's work was as important as her work as a neurobiologist, Sheldon proposed that they "terminate their relationship immediately" and Amy agreed.

The guys were relieved at first, but it soon became clear that Sheldon was distraught over the break up (though according to him, it was not a break up because that would mean she had been his girlfriend and she was not). He got a cat that he named Dr. Robert Oppenheimer. A bit later, he had more cats and introduced them as Enrico Fermi, Richard Feynman, Edward Teller, Otto Frisch - and Zazzles. Sheldon explained that he was going to call Zazzles Herman von Helmholtz, but "he's just so zazzy". Eventually Sheldon had 25 cats and Leonard called his mother to come fix the problem. In the end, Sheldon and Amy resumed their friendship and got rid of the cats.
2. One of the major story lines of season five was that of Howard preparing to go into space on a NASA mission. Raj suggested that Howard needed a 'cool astronaut nickname'. What nickname did Howard want?

Answer: Rocket Man

In "The Friendship Contraction", Howard and Raj tried to come up with a good nickname, though Howard said he wasn't the one who would get to choose, the other astronauts had to give him a name. After proposing the nicknames Buzz (taken) and Crash (inappropriate when flying into space), they agreed that Rocket Man would be a good nickname and came up with a plan to get the other astronauts to call him that: Howard would change his ring tone to the song "Rocket Man" and the next time he was videoconferencing with the NASA guys, Raj would call him so they'd hear the song.

The plan backfired though; while Howard was on webcam with Dr. Massimino, his mother yelled for Howard to come down for breakfast because his Fruit Loops were getting soggy. 'Fruit Loops' became Howard's 'cool' nickname.
3. In the third season, Penny had a crisis when she dislocated her shoulder. Sheldon, unable to ignore a damsel in distress, took her to the hospital and stayed with her. When filling out her admission form, what did Sheldon put for cause of injury?

Answer: Lack of adhesive ducks

In "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency", while all the other guys were away on a camping trip, Sheldon was in his apartment when he heard Penny calling for help. He found her in her bathtub and Penny told him that she slipped. Sheldon explained, a bit unnecessarily, that "tubs are slippery" and said that he has a "series of whimsical duck stickers" on the bottom of his tub as an anti-slip mechanism.

Despite his reluctance to drive, he did take Penny to the hospital in her car and filled out the forms with her. For the question "How did the accident occur?", Penny told him "You already know that", and Sheldon then said and wrote, "Cause of accident - lack of adhesive ducks".
4. In the fourth season, Raj, working with Sheldon since early in the third season, wanted to get something for their office and Sheldon didn't want to. What item were they disagreeing over?

Answer: A desk for Raj

In the episode "The Hot Troll Deviation", Raj and Sheldon argued over whether Raj could get his own desk. Sheldon didn't want him to and said there was no room in his budget for it. He finally agreed, though, to let Raj buy his own desk. Raj bought an incredibly large, fancy desk that dwarfed Sheldon's desk in comparison.

Sheldon ordered him to get rid of and said that it was way too big for its purpose. Raj noted that since its purpose was to annoy Sheldon, it was actually working quite well. This began a bit of a war between Raj and Sheldon.
5. In the second season episode "The Work Song Nanocluster", what did Penny and the guys stay up all night making?

Answer: Hair barrettes

In this episode Penny wanted to start a business selling her Penny Blossoms, hair barrettes that she decorated with flowers. The guys helped her set up an internet business and they soon had an order for 1000 Penny Blossoms, placed by the East Rutherford Gay-Lesbian-Bisexual-Transgender Alliance. Leonard, in creating in the website, had offered a one-day shipping option and so the group had very little time to make the 1000 barrettes.

They stayed up all night and finished the order, when they received another one-day rush order for 1000 Penny Blossoms.

They did not complete the second order.
6. In season four's "The Apology Insufficiency", the guys were interviewed by an FBI agent who was looking into Howard's background before granting him an high-level security clearance. After Sheldon caused Howard not to get the clearance, what did he give Howard by way of apology?

Answer: His spot on the couch

While Raj and Leonard also thought that they didn't do very well when interviewed either, it was Sheldon revealing that Howard used the Mars Rover to impress a date (in "The Lizard-Spock Expansion" from season two, when he crashed the Mars Rover and couldn't fix it) that cost Howard the security clearance.

Sheldon felt very guilty about it and tried to make it right, first by meeting with the FBI again to try to retract the statement (when he also almost revealed that Leonard almost gave up government information to a North Korean spy, Joyce Kim), then by confessing to Howard and apologizing. When Howard didn't accept the apology, Sheldon first tried to 're-program' him but eventually went with a grand gesture and gave Howard a couch cushion, a symbol of giving him his beloved spot on the couch. Howard was touched and accepted, but Sheldon ended up taking his spot back, after Howard sat in it for only 94 seconds.
7. In the season one episode "The Hamburger Postulate", the guys ate at the Cheesecake Factory for the first time. Sheldon was distressed at the thought of eating at a new restaurant where he didn't know what he liked. What did he eventually order, that became his usual order at the restaurant?

Answer: A burger

When Sheldon was having trouble placing an order, Leonard suggested he get a hamburger, because Sheldon likes hamburgers. Sheldon argued that he likes the burgers at Big Boy, not necessarily the burgers at the Cheesecake Factory. Penny told him that the barbecue burger is like a Big Boy burger and after a little convincing, Sheldon ordered it.

At the end of the episode, he and Leonard were at the Cheesecake Factory again, and Sheldon said that he actually really liked the burger and thought he might make it his new "Tuesday hamburger".

When Leonard sarcastically said that his old Tuesday hamburger would be heart broken, Sheldon said that he would just move Big Boy to Thursday nights and drop the Soup Plantation altogether.
8. In a fifth season episode, Sheldon tried repeatedly to scare his friends with pranks. What did he do that finally succeeded?

Answer: Concealed himself in the couch and leapt out while Leonard was sitting on it

At the beginning of "The Good Guy Fluctuation", the guys pranked Sheldon at his office. He didn't fall for the ghostly noises they made, but right after telling Raj and Howard that he could anticipate their every move because he was far smarter than them, he turned around and saw Leonard wearing a creepy "Star Trek" mask. Sheldon screamed, fainted, and peed his pants. He vowed to get his revenge, but kept failing. First the booby-trapped mailbox ended up getting Sheldon instead of Leonard, then Raj liked the snake that Sheldon left in his desk drawer, and when trying to electrocute Howard via a handshake, Howard faked a heart attack and scared Sheldon (who electrocuted himself with the device in his hand).

Meanwhile, Leonard met a cute girl at the comic book shop and ended up kissing her. When he confessed to Priya via webcam, who was back in India but still in a relationship with Leonard, she admitted that she'd recently slept with her ex-boyfriend. Stunned, Leonard ended the chat session and sat, contemplating, on the couch. That was when Sheldon, in zombie face paint, sprung out from under the couch cushions yelling, "Bazinga, punk!", finally succeeding in scaring one of his friends.
9. Sheldon's "World of Warcraft" account was hacked in the season four episode "The Zarnecki Incursion". What, among other things, was stolen from his account?

Answer: His battle ostrich

In this episode, Leonard arrived home to find a police officer with Sheldon. It was explained that Sheldon had had several items stolen from his "WoW" account and had called the police after the FBI hung up on him. When Sheldon mentioned that his battle ostrich had been one of the stolen items, Leonard said, "Oh no, not Glenn!" This seemed to be what Sheldon was most upset about, lamenting, "What kind of world do we live in where a man takes another man's battle ostrich?"

The police, of course, did not care to pursue the case, so the guys took it upon themselves. Howard traced the hacker and found out his name (Todd Zarnecki) and address, so they got in the car and went to confront him. When Todd Zarnecki refused to give back Sheldon's stuff, and proceeded to steal the big bladed weapon Sheldon brought with him as an intimidation tactic, the guys left, defeated. On the way home, their car broke down and they called Penny to come get them. Upon hearing that Todd had refused to give Sheldon his "WoW" items back, she drove them back to Todd's house and demanded, with a kick to the groin, that he give Sheldon back his stuff.
10. In season five, Sheldon and Amy began filming a video podcast. What was it called?

Answer: Sheldon Cooper Presents Fun With Flags

They filmed the inaugural episode of "Sheldon Cooper Presents Fun With Flags" at the beginning of "The Beta Test Initiation". Sheldon introduced the podcast as 52 weeks of exploring vexillology, the study of flags. He then said that the first episode would not be fun, but important; it was an introduction to flags and their proper handling, or "Flags: you gotta know how to hold 'em, you gotta know how to fold 'em". At the end of the episode, they filmed another "Fun With Flags" segment, about Bavaria, which included Sheldon wearing a Bavarian outfit and Amy holding a giant pretzel.

"Fun With Flags" came up again in season six, including a special episode of it featuring Wil Wheaton and LeVar Burton.
