Susan and Edie had a horrendous relationship full of drama, violence, revenge, and shared sexual partners. Although they lived their lives quite differently, Susan and Edie were quite similar in many ways. While Edie may have had to bear the brunt of physical injuries at the hands of Susan Mayer, Susan had to bear Edie's treachery, spitefulness, and emotional blackmail.

Edie lured him away from the television and tied him up as foreplay for a sexual liason, but she decided to leave him there and return to her movie rather than to engage in any 'afternoon delight.' Karl caught on quite quickly that Edie would not be returning to the bedroom with whipped cream, as promised, and instead she took the whipped cream to top off the pie she savored as she watched the rest of her movie.

Susan began to cry almost immediately after Edie finished telling her the whole story; Susan thought this story justified why Edie had been such a horrible person for so many years. Austin was an interesting addition to Wisteria Lane, as it was his arrival that sparked more of a storyline for the teenagers living in the neighborhood. He was handsome and charming but obviously conceited, selfish, and untrustworthy. Julie gave Austin her heart and her virginity and then she discovered that he had been sleeping with Danielle, her friend, and a girl he apparently hated. Austin left the show after Orson devised the plan to hide Danielle's pregnancy, but he did get to tell Julie how much she had meant to him.

Edie definitely came off as a desperate woman grasping at anything to keep Carlos at her side. He eventually discovered her betrayal over their plan to have a baby and that was when she decided to fake her own suicide. After they lived together for awhile, she started blackmailing Carlos with information about his offshore bank account in the Cayman Islands, and that was when Carlos decided it was time to move the money and get away from her as soon as possible.

Edie told Victor about Carlos and Gabby's affair out of revenge, but she previously had sabotaged his rental of Mrs. Simm's house so that Carlos would move in with her 'in the meantime.' She was approached by Julie Mayer to get a prescription for birth control after Edie realized that Julie and Austin were having a sexual relationship. Susan found out that Edie had done this and she simply stated her reason as follows: "I thought, if God forbid she were to get pregnant, that would make us (her and Susan) family. And I just can't have that." Finally, it was Dr. Ron that told Edie about Susan and Karl's secret marriage. Susan had told Ron that she had no feelings for anyone named Mike and Dr. Ron, of course, found out that this was a lie.

He retaliated against her by telling Edie that Karl and Susan were secretly married and committing insurance fraud.

Edie walked around Susan's house with a watering can full of gasoline and she meticulously spread the gas all over her home. When the insurance investigator arrived to tell Susan that they suspected arson, he asked her if she had any enemies. As she looked around to show him that everyone in the neighborhood was coming to help her, she noticed Edie standing across the street giving her the evil eye while eating a popsicle. Susan knew that Edie was responsible and she intended to prove it.

When Orson and Bree first considered divorce, Bree and Edie squared off over how uncomfortable Bree was with Orson sleeping on Edie's couch temporarily. When Edie went to confront Orson over the trouble Bree was causing her business, she found a notebook containing all of the details of Danielle's pregnancy and Bree's deception of pretending to be a new mother, when truly she was a grandmother with a secret.

She used this information to try and blackmail Bree, but Bree retaliated by telling her friends the truth and they all banded together to tell Edie she was no longer welcome at their homes or in their neighborhood.

Edie first used this ploy in the show's first season as she tried to get her hands on Mike Delfino. After she had been exiled from Wisteria Lane, she decided to announce her return by putting on an animal print bathing suit and then washed her car in a sun hat.

When the housewives approached and Susan asked, "Edie, is that you?," Edie simply replied, "You know someone else my age with a body like this?!"

He responded to this by almost choking her to death and she fled the house, got into her car, drove down Wisteria Lane, and tried to make a phone call. She swerved to miss him and crashed into an electrical pole. She opened the door to get out of her car and she was electrocuted by a live wire.

This episode was a tribute to the good and bad of Edie Britt, and each of the women's stories revealed a different part of her identity. Susan referred to her as being 'one of a kind,' Gabby said she was 'sexy,' Bree said 'perceptive,' Lynette said 'strong,' and Karen McCluskey said she was 'beautiful.'Edie was a wonderful addition to Wisteria Lane and I know I miss her feisty attitude and desperate ways.
