Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of this episode, George breaks up with his girlfriend. What game were they playing when they broke up?

Answer: Chess

In the beginning of this episode, George loses to his girlfriend, Alice, in a game of chess and immediately decides to stop seeing her because of it. He later tells Jerry that he felt emasculated following the ordeal. Meanwhile, Elaine is having trouble sleeping because a dog is constantly barking outside her window at night.

Her idea of a solution is screaming at it through the night. She loses her voice doing this.
2. What is the name of Jerry's girlfriend in this episode?

Answer: Melanie

After explaining his night with Alice, George asks Jerry about his time with Melanie, his current girlfriend. Jerry evidently ended their relationship after she 'shushed' him while watching TV. Jerry brings up the fact that nothing they really do in their relationships has any significance and that they should take action so that they aren't sixty and still single. Jerry immediately calls Melanie back and George considers calling Susan Ross, who he dated when he and Jerry had the NBC pilot.
3. Who suggests that Elaine talk to Newman about her dog problem?

Answer: Kramer

The night after her screaming fit, Elaine heads to Jerry's apartment, only having had three hours of sleep. She had lost her voice the night before due to the circumstances and she had not been able to go to work because of it. Kramer suggests that she hire someone to get rid of the dog. Jerry is against the idea of removing the dog entirely, but Elaine considers this.

The dog remover turns out to be Newman.
4. How do Newman and Elaine decide to get rid of the dog?

Answer: By driving it out of state

After Elaine decides that she simply can't kill a dog, regardless of the circumstances, Kramer suggetss that they just pick up the dog and drive it out of state. Meanwhile, George contemplates over what he should do with his life. After recalling some of the happier moments he's had with one-time girlfriend, attempted lesbian Susan Ross, he decides the go to her apartment and ask for her hand in marriage.
5. In this episode, Jerry's girlfriend has a peculiar habit of eating which vegetable one at a time?

Answer: Peas

On the same night that George asks Susan to marry him, Jerry goes on another date with Melanie. During dinner, he realizes that she is eating every one of her peas one at a time and is immediately frustrated by the idea.
After Susan says yes to George's proposal, he calls his parents. His mother is absolutely ecstatic with the idea, but like always, his parents yell and argue over the situation.
6. Who is the first to find out about George's engagement?

Answer: Jerry

While Kramer leaves to help Elaine and Newman catch the loud dog, George heads to Jerry's apartment with the good news. Jerry is happy that George could get such a beautiful woman engaged to him and George tells Jerry that he was his inspiration after their chat over lunch. Jerry takes the opportunity to tell Geroge that he broke up with Melanie because of the way she ate her peas.
7. Elaine personally goes out and catches the loud dog.

Answer: False

Newman, Kramer, and Elaine drive to Elaine's building with their supplies and Elaine considers backing out. She feels that it isn't right, first off to take the dog away, but second of all to steal from her neighbours. When the dog starts backing next to their van, Newman gets the rope (supplied by Kramer) and heads out to capture the dog.
8. Does Kramer carry a watch?

Answer: No

When Elaine asks Kramer for the time, he claims that he doesn't carry a watch. Instead, he says that he only tells time by watching the sun. At night, he finds this to be tougher. When Newman arrives back in the van with the dog, they realize that the barking terror is only a small terrier. They proceed to drive it out of the city anyways.
9. What movie do George and Susan go to see in this episode?

Answer: The Muted Heart

Prior to the engagement, George and Jerry had planned to go see the new Harrison Ford movie "Firestorm". After the engagement, George decides to spend the night with Susan instead and they go see "The Muted Heart" starring Glenn Close and Sally Field. Jerry goes to "Firestorm" anyways and has a great time.
10. What is the name of the dog featured in the episode?

Answer: Roxy

After Kramer leaves the dog on a random doorstep outside of the city, Roxy (as the dog is later found to be named) rips a piece from his jacket with a tag on it. While Elaine is getting her good night's sleep, and while Kramer dreams that the dog is attacking him, Roxy runs back home to New York City, where its owner puts it back in the courtyard.

A rental car agreement and the shred of clothing lead police to Kramer, and Jerry is able to deduce that Newman is the mastermind. Kramer, Newman, and Elaine head to the police station for stealing the dog.
