He literally fought the roosters with his fists. He was only about 6 inches tall! Peter uses him as an example to show that the Griffins have always been winners.

It wasn't mentioned on the show, but is mentioned in various voice credits. Bertram is the unborn younger brother that Stewie originally attempted to kill, but began to respect him. The two planned to join forces and kill Lois. However, Peter and Lois decided that they didn't want another child after all.
