Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is Hercules' centaur sidekick?

Answer: Newton

Newton was given a distinctive but annoying character trait; he said everything twice.
2. What is the name of the fair maiden who loves Hercules?

Answer: Helena

Helena was the first human being that Hercules met when he came down from Mount Olympus. She was voiced by Helene Nickerson, who was also hosted a CBC television series in the 1960s called "Time for Sunday School".
3. Who is the child-like satyr who cannot speak?

Answer: Tewt

Tewt (commonly misspelled "Toot") communicates by playing his panpipes.
4. What is the name of the evil wizard?

Answer: Daedalus

In this cartoon, Daedalus was a wicked magician who constantly plotted to steal the kingdom's riches, along with his cat, Dydo. In Greek mythology, Daedalus was actually a skilled craftsman. He was the father of the ill-fated Icarus, who flew too close to the sun with wings Daedalus built. Icarus perished when the wax on the wings melted and he fell into the sea.
5. Who is the seer of Mount Olympus?

Answer: Dodonis

His name is likely taken from "Dodona", which was a prehistoric oracle devoted to the Mother Goddess (identified at other sites with Rhea or Gaia), and later, in historical times also to the Greek god, Zeus.
6. What is the name of the Sea Witch?

Answer: Wilamene

Wilamene's sidekick was a parrot named Elvira.
7. Which villain is invulnerable to attack when clad in the Mask of Vulcan?

Answer: The Mask

The Mask never seemed to learn from his mistakes: He was constantly maneuvered into positions where his mask was easily removed from his head, making him vulnerable once more.
8. What is the winged horse of the gods called?

Answer: Pegasus

In Greek mythology, Pegasus was the offspring of Poseidon and Medusa. Hercules and Pegasus are never paired together in myth, as they are in the cartoon.
9. Who is the young King of Calydon?

Answer: Dorian

Prince Dorian is crowned king in the second episode, "Hercules Saves the Kingdom".
10. Who is Hercules' father, ruler of Mount Olympus?

Answer: Zeus

Zeus gave Hercules the ring which enabled him to retain his godly strength whenever he descended from Mount Olympus.
