The first Stig was in season 1 and 2 and was killed off in the first episode of season 3 by driving of an aircraft carrier. Supposedly only one black glove was ever found. The second Stig was in season 3 till 15. He was fired when his identity became known and is now known as "Sacked Stig". The third Stig first appeared in season 16.

Answer: Professional racing driver

As the main task, the Stig is to set a definite fastest lap for the tested cars, and thus be able to compare the times of different cars, all Stigs were former or active professional racing drivers to start with.
After observing the Stig's charity drive around the Silverstone Circuit just before British Grand Prix, former Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso remarked, "Whoever's in that car is a seriously good driver. ... I've no idea who he is, but he's definitely ex-F1".
A second main task for the Stig is to teach the guests in the Reasonable Priced Car the fastest way around the 'Top Gear' track.

When he first introduced the Stig in the 'Top Gear' premiere, Clarkson said, "We don't know its name, we really don't know its name, nobody knows its name, and we don't wanna know, 'cause it's a racing driver. After the first White Stig was sacke,d 'Top Gear' aired a Middle East Special on 26 December 2010, in which the presenters re-enacted the journey of the Three Wise Men to Bethlehem. At the end of the episode, they discovered a manger bearing a baby Stig.
In the season 16 premiere a month later, a fully grown new White Stig appeared. Clarkson and Hammond explained that Stigs grow very quickly, he had been to school, had been a teenager and now was fully grown. Aside from a slightly different helmet and black epaulettes, the Second White Stig looks exactly like the First White Stig.

The episode showed the Stig driving a black Ferrari FXX around the test track for a record-setting time of 1:10.7, before walking into the studio and sitting down. As the audience shouted "Off! Off!" the Stig removed his helmet to reveal himself as seven-time world champion F1 driver Michael Schumacher.

After showing a video clip in which Schumacher showed very poor car control in the Reasonable Priced Car Clarkson ended the episode stating that possibly Schumacher was not the Stig after all. The next day a 'Top Gear' spokesman confirmed Schumacher had played the Stig during the Ferrari circuit, but that "the identity of the real Stig would remain 'a mystery'.

During this episode , the presenters competed in a race across London: Jeremy in a speedboat, James in a car, Richard on his push bike and the Stig with the underground. Richard won on his bike, Jeremy in the boat came second, the Stig was third and James in his car was last.

Answer: The first Stig was dressed all in Black, the next two all in white.

There is also a small difference between the outfit of the first and the second White Stigs. The second White Stig uniform has black epaulets, the first one did not.

The Stig set a fastest time ever of 1:44.4 in the Suzuki Liana, the show's Reasonably Priced Car at the time. Shortly after Rubens Barrichello became the first person to beat the Stig's time (coming in at 1:44.3). The show then repeatedly referred to a jealous rivalry between the Stig and Barrichello. According to Clarkson "The Stig has dreams about what Rubens Barrichello would look like in a ham slicer."

This was revealed to us by Jeremy Clarkson. What Clarkson actually said was: "Some say he drinks by sucking the moisture out of ducks, and that his crash helmet design is modelled on Britney Spears' head. All we know is, he's called The Stig." I personally think Gene Simmons might have been more appropriate.

The Rig Stig proved to the team that you could actually drift with a big truck. Needless to say, the team's efforts at doing so were rather less successful. There have been a number of "Stig's Cousins" throughout the series, including the vegetarian "Janet Stig Porter" Stig in season 14, the Stig' Chinese cousin "Attack Stig" and in season 21 the Stig's teenage cousin.
