2. Who buys the nail gun?

Answer: Snoop

For his assistance he is given a $140.00 tip. The gun powder activated, .27 caliber nail gun turns out to be one of the key characters in the show.
3. Why is Herc given his choice of details?

Answer: He catches the mayor in a compromising position

In episode two, "Soft Eyes," Herc walks in on Mayor Royce and his secretary, and because he says nothing, he is put in a position to go anywhere he wants in the department. The key to his promotion, however, is making sure the mayor stays the mayor, so in subsequent episodes, he is viewed openly campaigning and even working the phone banks for Royce.
4. What is the name of the middle school where Prez ends up teaching?

Answer: Edward J. Tilghman

Edward J. Tilghman was the detective and later police chief who let "The Wire's" creator David Simon hang out with him while he wrote the book "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets," the book led to the show "Homicide: Life on the Streets," the uncensored information led to "The Wire." Much of the story takes place inside the walls of the fictional Edward Tilghman Middle School. Roland "Prez" Pryzbylewski, now a teacher at the school, at one point in the season has all four of the main kids in his classroom, but a lot changes before the season ends.
5. Who is inadvertently involved in the murder of Lex?

Answer: Randy

In episode one, "Boys of Summer," Little Kevin tells Randy to tell Lex to go to the playground to meet "his" girl Patrice. Snoop and Chris meet Lex there and kill him. When Randy finds out what happened, and his role in what happened, his life is permanently changed.
6. What does Marlo steal that causes the death of a security guard?

Answer: Two lollipops

When the security guard asks for the respect he believes he deserves as human being working for his family. One of the defining conversations of the series follows. Marlo then sends Chris back to the store to kill the guard.
7. What does Omar use to avoid death in prison?

Answer: Books

In episode seven, "Unto Others," Omar had books taped to his body, so when he was stabbed, the books took the impact, and he looked like Superman. He also used the "get out of jail free" card given to him in Season Two to get Bunk to take another look at his case and eventually get him out of jail.
8. Who kills Bodie?

Answer: O-Dog

In the last episode of the season, "Final Grades," a hooded character kills Bodie after Marlo finds out that Bodie was talking to McNulty. HBO's "The Wire's" episode guide says the killer's name was O-Dog. Bodie goes out like a warrior never expecting that one of Chris's mentors was walking up behind him with intent to kill.

The scene marks a changing of the guard for the youth in the show. Michael is awarded Bodie's corner.
9. How does Lester find the bodies in the vacants?

Answer: He spots the new nails in the doors

In episode eleven, "A New Day," in one of Lester's Sherlock Holmes moments, he's poking around a vacant lot near the playground where Lex was sent by Randy, and you can see him figure things out right in front of Bunk. "This is a Tomb. Lex is in there," he says. He starts looking at the nails on the doors of the buildings, and the case is busted wide open.
10. When Randy's foster mother is injured when her house is burned, who takes Randy?

Answer: No one

After Carver leaves Herc to finish the case, Herc leaves Randy exposed, and things fall apart. Carver tries to fix things, but in episode thirteen, "Final Grades," Randy ends up in a group home getting beaten by corner kids who think he's a snitch. At season end, only one of the children seemed to be heading in a positive direction, and the program that got him there is discontinued.

The fight goes on.
