Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which former "Jeopardy!" champion won the $2 Million Ultimate Tournament of Champions held in 2005?

Answer: Brad Rutter

Rutter was a five-time champion, in addition to winning the Ultimate Tournament of Champions. He also won the Million Dollar Masters Tournament held in 2001.
2. During the first season of Alex Trebek's run as "Jeopardy!" host, players could ring in at any time, even if Alex was not finished reading the clue.

Answer: True

This rule was short-lived, and by season two a rule was implemented forcing players to wait until the clue was fully read before anyone could ring in.
3. What was the largest amount of money that 74-time champion Ken Jennings won in any of his matches?

Answer: $75,000

By the end of his run, Jennings won $2,522,700. He later won $500,000 by finishing second in the Ultimate Tournament of Champions.
4. In 1996, which game show host switched places with Alex Trebek for a one-day special?

Answer: Pat Sajak

Believe it or not, Pat Sajak, of "Wheel of Fortune" fame, hosted "Jeopardy!" once. He and Alex switched places on April Fool's Day 1996.
5. What was the original name of "Jeopardy!" when it was first created by Merv Griffin in 1964?

Answer: "What's the Question?"

Quite frankly, the title was not very exciting. It was during a meeting with daytime executives of the television network that Merv came up with the idea of "Jeopardy!"
6. Merv Griffin composed the original "Think Music" that has become famous in many sports venues, in addition to "Jeopardy!"

Answer: True

Griffin composed the piece for the original 1964 version of the show. It has been re-mixed since then, but it is still the same tune.
7. In the episode where Ken Jennings was finally defeated, what was the correct response to the clue?

Answer: H & R Block

The clue was "Most of this company's 40,000 white-collar employees work only four months a year." Jennings guessed FedEx, presumably thinking of holiday deliveries, and was incorrect. Nancy Zerg had the correct response, H & R Block, for tax season. Zerg was the new "Jeopardy!" champion.
8. In what season were the dollar values on the game board doubled?

Answer: Season 18 (2000-01)

In response to inflation and other game shows, the dollar values in the "Jeopardy!" round were doubled to contain a top amount of $1,000, and $2,000 in the Double Jeopardy! round.
9. Eddie Timanus, a totally blind contestant, became a five-time "Jeopardy!" champion in 1999.

Answer: True

Eddie went on to win over $65,000, and two new cars. He had actually tried out for the show previously, but at the time, the show could not accomodate a blind contestant.
10. A DVD was released in the Fall of 2005 that takes you behind the scenes of this fabulous show. It also contains five special episodes. On how many of these episodes does former champion Ken Jennings appear?

Answer: Four

The first episode is the pilot episode from 1984. Also included are Jennings' 75th show, where he was finally dethroned, as well as the three games from the Ultimate Tournament of Champions final.
