In 2012, Rust meets Marty and tells him he needs his help. He explains to him that he has been working on their case for 2 years and he needs his help to finish it off. Marty says he cannot trust him and spills that he is being suspected in those murders. Rust reminds Marty that he has a debt to pay and this makes Marty change his mind.

He takes Marty to his storage space. Before entering the locker, Marty takes his gun in his hand for protection. Rust turns on the light and sees that Rust had been working on the case from there.

Rust explains his findings to Marty saying that there was a child molestation case in a school funded by Reverend Tuttle called Shepherd's Flock. That school shut down and reopened as the Light of the Way Academy that Rianne Olivier attended. He then tells Marty about meeting a boy, in 2010, named Toby who went to Shepherd's Flock. Toby tells Rust about some people from the school wearing animal faces who took obscene pictures of kids. Toby also tells him what he remembers about the man with the scars.

Rust breaks into one of Tuttle's houses and while he questions his own motives, he finds a safe. He breaks into the safe and takes it contents. There were some photos of children blindfolded with twig sculptures on them and a few other obscene photos.

There was also a videotape of people doing bad things to a girl. Rust shows these things to Marty to convince him to help him. Marty agrees and then he goes to tell Maggie that he is going to help Rust. Maggie tells Marty that she thinks that Rust did do something but she didn't tell the detectives.

Marty asks Rust after watching the video if he killed Tuttle. Rust denies doing that and tells Marty that somebody would have killed him after finding out that the photos and videos were missing, to prevent him from incriminating them. Rust convinces Marty to help him and asks Marty to use his connections with the police to get leads.

Marty brings Rust to his office so the both of them can work on the case from there. While sorting things out, Rust suddenly asks Marty personal questions. He asks Marty about his love life and why he quit and also about his own life. Marty tells Rust that he isn't seeing anyone at the moment and that the job at the force ran its course with him.

He tells the commanding officer, Bobby, that he is writing a book and needs to reference some of his old case files. He presents the officer with some alcohol to influence him. The officer then agrees and Marty gets access to files. He finds no file on Marie Fontenot and tells Rust this.

Jimmy Ledoux is a clean man. He has kids and has no relation to the crimes of Reggie and DeWall. Rust and Marty ask him about Reggie and DeWall and he says that his dad never liked them. Jimmy says he heard what happened to them and that they were nuts.

They then ask him about a man with scars on his face. Jimmy recalls somebody he met when he was a kid who used to stare at him but was not related to Ledoux.

Steve is a former colleague of Rust and Marty. They asked him some questions about their case in 1995 but to no avail. They believe that if there was a cover up in the investigation of the Fontenot case then Geraci would've known. Marty then tells Rust that there is no way they can arrest him. Rust then implies that they could torture him into talking. Marty then goes to play golf with Geraci in an attempt to get him to talk.

He gives Marty some information about Marie and tells him that Ted Childress spoke to the Fontenot family. Marty knows that Geraci is lying and so he tells Rust to get ready to use force on Geraci. Harney has appeared in the show 'Orange is the New Black'.

Answer: A murder involving a baby

Marty and Rust are sitting in the office and having a drink. Marty tells Rust that he was involved in a case where a baby was killed by being heated in a microwave by its own folks. He felt that he had seen too much after that case and decided to leave the police force. Marty then asks Rust why he came back and Rust tells him that the case made him come back.

Detectives Gilbough and Papania are looking for the church that was burned down and stop to ask a man mowing a lawn for directions to the church. The man is a big man with scars on his face which the detectives fail to see and drive off. The man tells the detectives that the church shut down before they leave.

They also ask him to get to a road and he gives him the directions. After they drive off, the man gets off his lawnmower and says "My family's been here a long, long time". And the episode ends.
