Earl Haraldson had made lots of enemies on his climb to be earl and both his young sons were brutally murdered. He was a cold and unforgiving man and as he controlled the ships in the village, Ragnar had to find another way.
2. Ragnar's village was a close farming community and apart from riches, all he wanted was to find new lands to farm. What was the name of the village?

Answer: Kattegat

Kattegat was the village that eventually became the centre of Ragnar's power. It had easy access to the sea and was perfect for building and launching ships.

Answer: North East England

The Norsemen ravaged and pillaged their way into Lindisfarne Monastery in Cumbria. They returned with lots of riches and the monk Athelstan.

Floki, who was jealous of their relationship had never trusted Athelstan and killed him without remorse.

Lagartha remarried to earl Sigvard but he was a violent man, who treated her with contempt. Sigvard went too far when he had his men beat her and Lagertha eventually killed him by stabbing him in the eye. She then became Earl Ingstad.

Answer: Slaughtered by Ragnar and his people

King Horik turned out to be a traitorous man and had been behind Jarl Borg's atrocities. He intended to kill Ragnar and his family. Floki had pretended to be on his side but when Horik's family arrived in Kattegat they were all slaughtered by Ragnar's people. Horik was struck with a sword by Lagertha, hit with an axe by Bjorn, Ragnar then stabbed and head butted him to death.
