In the opening credits, everything went normal until the family is dancing on the stairs. Peter tripped and fell down the stairs onto a background dancer. She ended up passing out on the ground, crushed by Peter, while Peter complained about a swollen foot from the fall. Stewie decided that the camera should be shut off and the credits immediately ended.

In this episode, Quagmire returned from Florida with firecrackers (which he assumed were illegal), so the Griffin family ended up setting them off in the backyard. Peter decided to tie up ten M80s in a ball and set them off, but while saying the name of his creation to Quagmire it blew off his fingers. It was then a rush against time to retrieve all five and get Peter to the hospital.

After blowing up his hand, Peter and the neighbours search for his missing fingers. One of these appeared in Cleveland's hair, another was in Joe's wheelchair tires. One was found on the street and Peter chased it down while a car was driving along. Joe tried to push him out of the way, but missed and Peter was hit.

After this, Peter and Joe had to race the creepy old man's dog for the finger on the sidewalk by crawling on the ground. A bird caught it first and Joe was able to shoot it while Peter obtained his finger.

After Peter got his fingers reattached, the guys tried to celebrate at the pub, but they were kicked out when the place closed down. Finding that they weren't drunk, the guys went to the Pawtucket Brewery for more. They ended up inside one of the vats full of beer and Peter asked his question. Joe suggested Debra Messing while Cleveland said French Stewart (because there's nothing he needs to be squinting about).

After coming home late, Brian decided not to have brunch with Stewie, and this caused Stewie to pry into Brian's affairs. Stewie said that he clearly knew that Brian was seeing someone (because he wasn't as dim as those retirees he entertained). Brian didn't deny this, and when they went to go visit his girlfriend, Jillian, Stewie realized that Brian was embarrassed by her because of her stupidity and only stayed with her because of her looks.

After the accident involving the firecrackers, Peter returned to work at the Pawtucket Brewery only to find that he was unable to type out his reports for Angie, his boss. Lois came into Peter's office to help him get caught up, but all Peter wanted to do was be foolish and sleep with her in his office. He ended up dubbing her 'his secretary' and dictated a letter to Lois.

Stewie confronted Brian asking about what he's trying to accomplish by dating Jillian and he realized it's simply about her striking looks. Brian said that they often talked about food and the seat covers that she bought for her new Jetta, and after leaving the room, Stewie called her on Brian's cell phone using the redial button (Jillian previously called to ask how to work her DVD player. Turns out it wasn't plugged in...and the disk was upside down).

Using Brian cell phone, Stewie called Jillian to invite her to meet the Griffin family. Lois is shocked that Brian stooped to the level of dating Jillian and even thought that he wasn't serious about it. During this visit, Jillian asked Peter and Chris if they'd ever seen the sun and the moon at the same time, and all three of them hypothesized that the sun and the moon were the same people.

After having Lois do all of his work, Peter tried seducing her with his charms and massages. Unfortunately, Lois was more interested in finishing Peter's work to get out of the office and Peter called her a buzzkill for doing it. Peter noted the time that he was at a party with Buzz Killington, who ruined the night by showing extremely unfunny etchings of Scotsmen on bicycles.

In the end of the episode, Brian decided to tell Jillian that he was breaking off their relationship, and he took Stewie with him. After leaving Stewie in the car, Brian was tempted into Jillian's apartment for three hours and he never actually broke it off with her. Meanwhile, Peter finally coaxed Lois into sleeping with him at work, and Lois finally finished the paperwork for Peter.
