Ryan rushes home after a series of strange events in a mental institution, only to find that his beloved basement is gone. He starts to question his sanity, before realizing that the basement is still there behind the closet. Robin Williams made a very amusing cameo in this episode, playing Ryan's doctor in the mental institution.

Jellybeans quickly becomes an annoyance to Wilfred due to his ability (and Wilfred's comparative lack of talent). Meanwhile, Ryan is trying to get Jenna out of his head now that she's engaged. A budding romance with a work colleague, Amanda, is also starting up.

Kristen decides she's in love with the father, Arturo, who she says has told her he is divorcing his wife. However, it turns out this is not true and Arturo wants noting to do with her (to the point of taking out a restraining order against her).

Ryan and Wilfred are mugged (after Wilfred accidentally fires his own gun) and Wilfred loses his precious sense of smell. This leads Wilfred to almost kill himself, before Ryan comes to the rescue. In this episode we also see Wilfred theorizing on why Ryan sees only him as a man; suggesting Ryan is dying and having hallucinations as a result.

Ryan gets cold feet on the relationship after Amanda says she loves him. He ends up asking her for a break. When she asks how long, he replies "very long".

In this episode, "Service", Ryan spontaneously agrees to take Catherine for a long drive. It soon emerges that she is badly losing the plot when she confuses Ryan with his father. She ends up disappearing and they find her in a remote house where kittens are being given away. Kristen safely gives birth to her little boy, with the help of Ryan.

Jenna decides to do a story on drugs instead, drawing on her bad experience from accidentally taking pot and acting strangely on live TV (a video that went viral on YouTube). Wilfred is furious, although he has obviously formed an attachment to the cats despite his pretending to dislike them.

Wilfred shoots an arrow through the neck of "Red Wolf", the spirit guide who was preparing to give Ryan answers about Wilfred. In his dream, Wilfred also gives Ryan more drugs, inducing a very surreal trip within the trip!

Ryan is reluctantly convinced by Drew to be the wedding ring-bearer, but it starts badly when Wilfred swallows the ring out of habit when Ryan throws it to him. He eventually gets it back when Wilfred goes to the bathroom.

Answer: He finds a drawing of Wilfred from 20 years ago

Wilfred is only 7 years old, but it is clear from the drawing that it's the same dog hiding behind a tree. Wilfred tells Ryan that he drew the picture to mess with Ryan's head, but in the final scene we see evidence that it was drawn by Ryan as a child.
