Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did the character written inside the crematorium chamber mean?

Answer: ghost

Mulder pointed out the oddity of that being the word written by a man about to be burned alive. A bit later, he told Scully about the importance of ghosts in Chinese culture.
2. What was NOT burnt on Mr. Lowe's body?

Answer: eye

Scully pulled back his eyelid to find that he had a glass eye which had suffered no damage in the fire.
3. What had been replaced in Mr. Lowe's apartment?

Answer: carpet

There was a brand new carpet laid on the floor. Luckily for the agents, it wasn't tacked down, nor had they replaced the old pad. When Mulder rolled back the carpet, he revealed a huge blood stain.
4. What did Detective Chao mention being haunted by?

Answer: his mortgage payments

The agents had asked him if he put any weight in the traditional Chinese beliefs and he confessed that it was hard to argue with the tenets held for thousands of years that he'd learned from his parents and grandparents, but that he was more haunted by his mortgage payments.
5. What crawled out of the chest of the victim found in the grave?

Answer: frog

Scully had just cut the stitches from across the chest and the skin started to push upward. As she and Mulder watched, out hopped a frog, which then sat on the corpse's chest.
6. What letters did Det. Chao use to describe himself?

Answer: ABC

Chao told Scully and Mulder that the Chinese community they were trying to investigate saw him as an "ABC": an American-born Chinese. He told the agents that he was trying to help but it wasn't easy because, though, he spoke the language, the denizens of Chinatown considered him to be as white as Scully and Mulder.
7. What body part did Mr. Hsin lose the first time his tile was drawn?

Answer: eye

When Scully asked about it, he said that he had an accident at work with a carpet tack.
8. Was the game fixed?

Answer: yes

Det. Chao pushed the table over, spilling the tiles on the floor. It showed that all the tiles were the same!
9. What did the game's organizer claim he gave the men?

Answer: hope

He told Scully that in his culture, death was nothing to be feared, but that life without hope was living hell. He claimed that hope was what he provided.
10. How did Det. Chao die?

Answer: burned alive

After Scully and Mulder broke up the game, none of the attendants would testify to having seen anything. Det. Chao, meanwhile, had disappeared and was taken to the crematorium and burned alive for betraying game.
