Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Although brief, an opening sequence shows the first interactions between Boy and Blob. How does Blob happen to meet Boy?

Answer: He crashes onto Boy's planet

Boy is abruptly woken while sleeping in his treehouse in the forest by a loud, crashing sound outside. The first level of the game allows Boy to investigate the nearby woods whereupon he sees Blob emerging from the craft he traveled in while fleeing from his native planet of Blobolonia.

The two become friends almost immediately, and with a quick, friendly hug, Boy and Blob embark on an adventure together. What could be more charming than a Boy and his Blob?
2. Which of these treats seems to be Blob's favourite?

Answer: Jellybeans

Boy starts all of the levels of the game with pre-chosen jellybeans. By pressing the Z button, a wheel appears on screen from which Boy can select the specific jellybean he wishes to use to allow Blob to transform. Blob, unless in a form, will eat any jellybean left on the ground for him and shapeshift immediately (provided he isn't blocked by an obstacle). If Blob does not eat the jellybean after a certain amount of time, it will disappear. Each form requires a different colour of jellybean.
3. Blob has a tendency to shapeshift depending on Boy's needs. Which is the first form that Blob takes on during the game?

Answer: Ladder

When Boy brings Blob back to his treehouse after the first level, the two of them will be able to unload any treasure chests found along the route and populate this 'home base' with nic-nacs of all sorts (including an alligator). Upon Boy's first return, a small jar of jellybeans will be knocked off a table by accident and a single jellybean will fall out.

When Blob encounters this jellybean, he'll transform into a ladder (with eyes, no less) so that Boy can reach the top parts of his treehouse.

This is only the blobby beginning. Manhole Blob is the only necessary transformation, alongside the ladder, in the very next level.
4. To unlock hidden treats, Blob can collect how many chests in one level?

Answer: Three

Each level of the game (excluding some boss battles) will contain three different treasure chests which can be collected. When these are accumulated (by letting Blob eat the chest and return it to the home base), they will create objects to furnish the bases in each respective world.

As these are collected, bonus levels of the game can be accessed which will, in turn, unlock special features (including concept art, videos, and production stills of the game). The chests are the perfectionist's goal in this game.
5. Blob has just propelled you into the air with his new transformation. Which of these could he have become to perform this feat?

Answer: Trampoline

While all of these transformations exist in the game, only Blob's trampoline form will allow Boy to propel high into the air. Balloon, unfortunately, is too light for Boy to travel with, parachute is used to glide through the air, and cannon is used for other purposes (mainly shooting, but not up into the air). All of these are accomplished as Boy and Blob make their way through the game by using the jellybeans that Blob enjoys so much.

Other transformations in the game include the ladder, the manhole, the ball, the anvil, the giant orb, and other whimsical shapes of use on the journey.
6. Boy may be tough, but there are some things he can not face. Can Boy swim?

Answer: No

Boy will have trouble coming face to face with evil dark blob creatures found across the land and he and Blob will need to be sneaky in either passing them by or attacking them with the supplies they have at their disposal (whether that be Blob itself or the environment). Boy also doesn't stand a large chance against water and will likely sink to the bottom if he falls in.

The same sort of experience seems to apply if he falls from a very tall height or if he lands on spikes. Your best bet is avoiding things that look dangerous. Take caution and always keep Blob handy.
7. Sometimes interacting with Blob is important for the team. Pressing 'Up' on the D-Pad of the Wii Remote will perform which of these actions?

Answer: Hug

Okay, maybe it's not that important, but isn't it heartwarming? Part of what was proposed to be an emotion system planned to influence gameplay, hugging and scolding were left in the game despite their lack of purpose. Pressing D-Up hugs Blob in a charming animation while D-Down evokes a light scolding. Pressing the other D-pad buttons will move the camera to follow Blob wherever he may be onscreen while the C-button will call Blob over to you. If Blob is unable to get to where you are, pressing C three times will allow Boy to whistle, and Blob will transform into a balloon to reach you. Calling blob will pull him out of any transformation.
8. The game features many diverse stages in exotic locales. Which of these is not visited?

Answer: Desert

Beginning at Boy's treehouse, the game makes its way through the forest, the city, the caves, the planet of Blobolonia, and other interesting locations in its narrative. Boy and Blob must use all of the skills and abilities at their disposal to proceed onward through the game and succeed in their quest to save both of their worlds. On the way, Boy and Blob come across evil dark blob enemies which only Blob can defeat (or which they must avoid).

It's a difficult quest, but together, Boy and Blob can accomplish anything.
9. You've reached the end of a level. What does Blob transform into?

Answer: Door

To complete any level, Boy and Blob must either defeat a boss or reach a golden jellybean resting on the ground. Once Boy reaches this jellybean, victory music will sound, Blob will eat it, and he'll transform into a doorway. Boy can walk through this before the two of them disappear into nothingness. Completion of any level will bring Boy and Blob back to their home base stage where Blob will relinquish any new treasure chests found in the previous level and where Boy can select the next course of action.
10. In the final levels of the game, Blob faces off against the Shadow King. What is the final form learned by Blob?

Answer: Robot

After facing off against the Shadow King in this evildoer's lair, Boy and Blob will rocket back to Earth and Boy's treehouse, where the journey began. The final two levels of the game are held here and in the first, Blob is quickly taken captive and crushed! No worries though- Blob can morph himself back together. This time he's ready to bring out the big form: Robot. For this, Blob elaborately morphs into a mech-form which Boy can climb into and travel within. Boy is safe from all terrors (except holes in the level) and can pilot Blob to simply walk through evil creatures, break walls in an instant, or float above the ground in short bursts.
In the final level, Blob will be able to transform into balloon (as always), shield, bouncy ball, and robot form. Take your final shots and beat the Shadow King to a blobby pulp!
In the end, Boy and Blob share one more playful embrace before Blob must part. He transforms into a rocket and shoots off into the night sky.
