Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whose book requires red pages?

Answer: Sirrus'

Through the four ages, you will have the opportunity to locate and pick up either Sirrus' red pages or Achenar's blue pages. You can only pick one per visit, and when you return to Myst Island, you need to place it in the appropriate book. If you return all of the pages to one book and none to the other, it has an impact on the ending of the game.
2. How many marker switches are on Myst Island?

Answer: Eight

By flipping up all of these switches, you will be able to point the tower at any of the four linking books on Myst Island. These linking books will transport you to the four ages in the game. When the switches are flipped, they will show up on the picture of the island in the library. From this library, you can point and access the tower and its clues.
3. How many books in the Myst Island library are readable?

Answer: Five

On the shelf in the library, you'll be able to find a book for every age as well as a book full of square diagrams. These squares will be used in the very end of the game when you need to help Atrus who's trapped in D'ni. To access the D'ni linking book, you'll need to use square diagram #158 on the puzzle board in the fireplace.
4. What is not located in the cabin on Myst Island?

Answer: A button

All of he objects found in the cabin are used/turned/opened before you enter the Channelwood Age. To open the vault, you use the combination 724, and once you've opened it, strike up a match and light the boiler behind you. By using the wheel, the tree outside can move up and down.
5. In the Selentic Age, is there any direction that the Mazerunner is not steered?

Answer: No

All eight compass directions are taken. You can access the Mazerunner in the very end of your stay in the Selentic Age. Inside, you'll need to follow the sounds you hear by corresponding them to the directions you can travel. North gives a 'ping', East gives a 'whoosh', South gives a 'twang', and West gives a 'chirp'. If you're forced to go North-east, for example, you'll hear a 'ping' and a 'whoosh'.
At the end of the maze, you'll find the linking book which will set you back down on Myst Island.
6. In the Stoneship Age, what can't be found?

Answer: An imager

Although there is no imager in this age, you can find one in the canopy of the Channelwood Age's treetops. The lighthouse is the starting point of the age. You'll need to drain the water to reach the generator on the top floor. When you turn the crank, the generator powers up the rest of the age for about ten minutes.

When you come to the telescope, take it to 135 degrees to find your target. This number comes in handy later in the age.
7. In the Mechanical Age, how many islands can the movable bridge access (excluding the island from which the bridge is based on)?

Answer: Three

The bridge is able to grant access to the island the age is started on as well as the two islands containing the symbols for the exit. You can turn this bridge from within the rotating fortress when you ride the elevator to the top of the fortress. On the north island, the first two shapes to the puzzle are taken, and the second two are to the east. By using these shapes, you can access the linking book which will take you back to Myst Island.
8. In Channelwood, how many elevators are used?

Answer: Three

One elevator takes you to the first floor of treehouses, the second takes you to the top treehouses, and the third will take you to the Myst Island linking book. These elevators aren't too simple to use. You'll need to reroute the water supplying the power to these elevators by pointing the valves on the forest floor in the correct direction. To access the final elevator, you'll also need to power a sunken bridge.
9. Which age requires you to power up a spaceship before you enter it?

Answer: The Selentic Age

This spaceship is on the opposite side of the library from the starting point on the dock. You'll need to access the power generator to open the door to the spaceship, and once inside, you'll need to press certain keys on a keyboard (the correct five keys are found in the Selentic Age journal in Myst Library), and you'll need to correctly place five sliders in the correct position before you are given the linking book.
10. What age is Atrus trapped in?

Answer: D'ni

In the end of the game, you have the opportunity to save Atrus, but depending on how you played the game, the situation may turn for the worse. It's possible that you can return the white page to Atrus thus stopping Sirrus and Achenar and winning the game, but it's possible that if you save Achenar or Sirrus that they can trap you in their book and wreak havoc. Also, if you don't get Atrus the white page and you travel to D'ni, you'll be imprisoned there for eternity. Atrus is played by the creator of "Myst", Rand Miller. Rand has also written books about "Myst" including one titled "Myst: The Book of D'ni".
