Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first adult scene shows Garr chasing a whelp, and Garr strikes him viciously, suspecting he must be Ryu as he is supposedly the last of his kind. Ryu changes to a human form, and after apologising for the attack at Angel Tower, what does Garr want to do with Ryu?

Answer: Take him to meet the goddess and learn the reasons for the Brood massacre

Garr wants to take Ryu to meet the goddess Myria, and learn the truth about why they were meant to kill the Brood. After experiencing a defeat at Angel Tower, Garr ponders that had the Brood really given all their might in battle, the Guardians surely would have lost.

Ryu seems to forgive him fast, and doesn't appear to mind that Garr seems to be doing this in a slightly selfish vein. Then they try and find their way out of the mine, and after a little exploration, a dragon zombie is encountered, who wants Garr dead and wills Ryu to kill him. Unfortunately Ryu disagrees and so they destroy it instead.
2. After killing the vengeful dragon zombie, one dragon gene is obtained. Immediately after, a female spirit appears, claiming the dragon zombie was not a true dragon, but Ryu is, and also turns into a dragon gene. Ryu, therefore, gets not one but two dragon genes here. Which are they?

Answer: Shadow and Fusion

Ryu will get the Shadow and Fusion genes here. The Shadow gene adds Shadow property, and whilst alone it is not overly preferable to, say, the Warrior, pair it with Trance and Ryu can become Tiamat. The Fusion gene allows a party to combine into one unique looking dragon, and additional genes can add or change extra abilities. Try different combinations out for yourself!

After this, Ryu makes his way out of the mine. Whilst a specific goal is not indicated right now, Garr wants to return to the ever delightful Angel Tower in hopes of finding God.

Though one can stop off at Syn City, gangster capital, for some items, Ryu's next real destination is past Ogre Road. Ryu will meet a Weretiger along the way, who runs off after being beaten up a bit. Then, Ryu must cross Mt. Levett (which, annoyingly, must be crossed multiple times, although it is a very small area) and then he's back in the McNeil area, where an investigation is being carried out down at McNeil's manor. It appears McNeil may receive his comeuppance after all...
3. After stopping by McNeil, Ryu finds Rei at his old home in the Cedar Woods, a burnt shell of its former self, and a remnant of Balio and Sunder's arson. How does he react to Ryu when he realises it was him who was victorious in their battle on Ogre Road?

Answer: He laughs a lot

He laughs a lot about it. He seems really surprised that Ryu had grown stronger than him, especially given he was a bit wimpy when journeying with him.

After this, Rei DOES leap away, back to McNeil village, where he whacks down Loki, the guy who tasked the kids to steal from McNeil, causing the gangsters to attack them in the first place.
Ryu and Garr go on to the farm, and see adult Nina arrest Mr McNeil for wrongdoings. Garr says Nina should take him to Wyndia post-haste, and they have a short chat about the Brood, curtailed by Nina who says the investigation into the gang McNeil was working for is more important for now. So it's time to go back to Syn City (or first time if you didn't go before).

When you arrive, most people are injured. A man informs them that the boss has gone to the north checkpoint. Nina then exclaims that it's pointless Rei is doing this as it won't solve anything. She then adds if the boss is killed, they can't interrogate him.
4. When the group catch up with Rei and Mikba at the checkpoint, Rei has already struck Mikba. However, Ryu's arrival distracts Rei, and as he's talking, Mikba turns into a creature and knocks Rei unconscious. Just before the fight, roughly what does Mikba say to the group?

Answer: Use your power for your own good -- like me!

He claims that Rei and co should use their powers for their own good, like him. (And, he's a tough boss, given the battle starts with only two people alive). After defeating him, he dies soon after, but not before telling Rei that Balio and Sunder were already killed by Ryu.

Rei feels stupid and that his efforts over the past few years were in vain. Nina and Ryu then talk about their mission to go to meet God and ask questions about the Brood. Rei tags along saying he'd like to ask why he and Mikba had such powers in the first place.

Next stop - the plant creating chrysm infused crops: Nina thinks if Ryu helps there the King will have to accept he is a hero, even though he is not popular because he 'stole' Nina away from the castle as a kid. Here lies an old friend - Momo! She's concerned that Palet, the plant director, has disappeared and the machine problems are getting worse and worse. They then go to Yggdrasil to pick up Peco, and return to find that chrysm radiation is leaking out from an underground lab. Exploring this laboratory reveals relics of the Techno Age...
5. The group find Palet in the secret laboratory beneath the plant, and he is enacting a dastardly experiment: one he seems to have been trying for a long time. Reading between the lines would hint that Peco and the Mutant were by-products of these experiments. What is his aim?

Answer: To resurrect his dead mother

He wants to resurrect his dead mother. The group certainly aren't sympathetic to it, and he soon gets frustrated with Momo and company.

He drinks Yggdrasil sap and becomes a plant morph creature - Shroom - to protect his dead mother. Peco and the mutant in the Dump were likely to be by-products of these experiments, after all, Palet did not want anyone to know about the mutant in the child section, and the mutant could also speak. You also find out Repsol pulled out of these experiments at some point as he found them unethical. After the battle, you shut off the machine, allowing Palet's mother to rest in peace.

After, it's back to Wyndia Castle, but this time it's just Nina and Rei alone.
6. Why are Nina and Rei returning to the Wyndian castle, given the aggro suffered by Ryu there as a child?

Answer: To get a passport for the Eastern lands

They need another passport for the Eastern lands. Because Ryu, Momo, Garr and Peco would be recognised, and thus rejected, it's decided that Rei should get credit for helping her out and the necessary passport.

After being invited to have a look around, whilst the passport is being prepared, Nina finds Honey's (Momo's pet machine) followed them to the basement, and she picks her up. She also notes that Ryu was thrown in jail here before.

This time, soon after they get the passport, a guard runs in and tells Sheila about Rei being spotted with Ryu.
Sheila (the Queen) and Nina have a family row, and Nina is annoyed at the opinion that Ryu and co. are conmen. Nina also adds that Sheila has not seen anything outside her castle, like the Brood, the gang at Syn City and the remnants of the Techno Age. Then Rei adds a comment about all baby birds having to fly the nest eventually, and him being a crook and a thief, but not Ryu. After this exchange, the King sends his men chasing after them.
7. In the basement of Wyndia Castle, Rei and Nina seem to reach a dead end room. But Honey jumps onto a machine. What does she do afterwards?

Answer: Enter a Navigator Code to activate it

This is the key to a teleporter. It looks like once again Honey will help Nina out of Wyndia Castle... Rei walks out of the room only to see a few friends.

Sheila, and a few guards have chased them. Nina bids farewell to Sheila, saying she loves her, and knows how important she is, but also wants to do what she feels is right. She then escapes with Rei using the teleporter. They arrive outside Wyndia in a small house and then regroup with the party and make their way across the checkpoint. The boat at Rhapala's down (surprise, surprise), so instead they use the road.
8. Garr and Ryu arrive at Angel Tower again. It is said that those Guardians who complete their mission will meet God, and give her back the power she gave them, and then something happens to them and changes their body. Yet, God does not come. What is this state called?

Answer: Stone Sleep

It's called the Stone Sleep, and Garr is about to offer himself up for the Sleep when a voice calls out "Guardian... God .. will not come.. here". A figure trapped in a pyramid appears, and Garr recognises her as Deis, and Deis says if they want to know how to find God they need to find Gaist. She then disappears.

Garr recognises Gaist as another Guardian, but he doesn't know where to find him, so they go and ask at Urkan Tapa (the village of preachers). Patriarch Sudama tells Garr he's somewhere beyond the tidal caves to the west, although he doesn't appear to be particularly pleased about it. The tidal caves are fairly linear, but worth a full comb over for the treasure.
9. Past the tidal caves is a small village for dropouts and homeless people -- and this is where Gaist has chosen to live. What is it called?

Answer: Cliff

It's called Cliff, a simple name for a simple little town of outcasts etched on the edge of a cliff. Another bit of useless trivia: one of Kenichi's old Contest pals is here, too (the grasshopper).

At the furthest house, Gaist can be found, although unless Garr is in the party, he won't progress the story. Although Gaist feels bad about killing the Brood, he doesn't understand why Garr is so serious about finding out the reasons for the massacre. He then talks to Ryu alone, and says if he is serious about the whole God journey, then to come back alone. Of course he is, and Gaist then changes to a more deadly form... a boss. After defeating him, you learn the only way to free Deis was to kill him.
10. After freeing Deis and visiting her in the temple at Mt. Zublo, she does something to Ryu that enables him to find God, but do you know what she does?

Answer: She opens his "eye"

She opens his dragon's "eye", and a light called prana shows him where to go to find God. It points north, far, far away, past the sea. Deis does not support the massacre of the Brood - a flashback shows her pitying some dragons slain by the Guardians. If you treat her right, she'll become a Master with some of the strongest spells in the game.

To get across the sea, they need a boat. Rhapala is no go, so they go to the Dock near Junk Town. They find the boat there along with Beyd, and Momo offers to help repair it, but she needs the others to get her some parts. After getting permission from the guildmaster, they head to Steel Beach. But is a small boat enough to get across that sea?
