Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these weapons is a gift given by Nina to Ryu early in the game? The breaking of this sword causes political problems later on.

Answer: King's Sword

The King's Sword is broken when Ryu lashes out at Rasso in Sarai's bar. This Sword is a symbol of the truce between Ludia and the Imperial forces. Breaking it further complicates matters for the party after their failed excursion to the Imperial lands causes Cray to be imprisoned.
2. Scias is the last to join and complete Ryu's party.

Answer: False

Ursula is the last, and she joins after the events at the abandoned village. She's a fiery, short tempered character, but even she has her fears, and whilst she aims for results, does not resort to cruel methods like other Imperials to get her way.
Scias is a character who doesn't really get much airtime, and he's rather enigmatic. Originally, he's a mercenary paid to watch over Ryu and Nina whilst Cray is imprisoned, but he ends up siding against his master, shunning his money, and officially joining the group.
3. Which of these 'Breath of Fire III' characters make a cameo appearance at the abandoned village after you complete the game?

Answer: Rei and Teepo

From these two you can receive a cursed sword, which after 1000 creature kills, turns into a Royal Sword.
Rei also sells other items, including the Medallions which give some attack/defence bonuses if everyone wears them. The only downside is it takes up space which arguably could be better used by other accessories.
4. A large part of the journey for Cray and Nina is searching for their lost sister, Elina. Where do they eventually find her?

Answer: Astana

This is a gruesome part of the story. Early-ish in the game, the party find out that Elina was spotted at Synesta, and likely was taken to the Imperial lands. They teleport over the mud ocean, and find a way into where Elina is being held, although they are captured, sent back, and told she is not there.

Later, the party return to Astana and find Yuna has been trying to turn Elina into an Endless, akin to the dragons. Elina begs Cray to kill her with the only weapon that can - the Dragonslayer.
5. Which main character is actually an inanimate object brought to life by Deis, a flawed summoning of an Endless, housed within?

Answer: Ershin

Ershin is a suit of armour which has a life of its own... somewhat. Without Deis inside, it would not function, yet because of the flawed summoning, Deis does not have her own body.

The Endless are likened to gods summoned from other worlds who keep the balance of the planet in check. Whilst only the summoners at Chek know the correct way to summon these gods, it is revealed the Imperials tried to summon not only Deis but also the summoning of Fou-lu, which did not go to plan and split him, causing the creation of Ryu.
6. Which of these words spoken in the language of the Pabpab roughly means 'What will be, will be'?

Answer: Pukapuka

The Pabpab (who live in the village 'Pabpab') are little furry creatures. When you help a Pabpab on the way there, they'll let you in. Unfortunately, whilst waiting for the tides to reveal the flats, a Pabpab gets ill, and the Pabpabs say 'pukapuka' - roughly meaning what will be, will be.
However, there is an antidote which can be found on an island near Lyp. So, the Pabpab is saved, and in return, it tells you the location of treasure... in Pabpab, of course!

Bonus trivia: Pukapuka is actually a real place. It is a part of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific.
7. Who impales Fou-lu with the aptly named Dragonslayer, not wanting him to regain his power over the Imperial Empire?

Answer: Soniel

Soniel is, or was, the ruler of the Fou Empire in Fou-lu's absence. In theory, since Fou-lu has returned, he was to return the rulership to him as per a contract apparently made many years ago.

Instead, Soniel stabs Fou-lu with the Dragonslayer, and he bleeds. In the unedited version of this scene, Fou-lu, after grinning sadistically, removes the sword and decapitates Soniel. As the Dragonslayer falls down the stairs, Yuna picks it up, as though he knew Soniel would lose.
8. Which of these characters, after cruel misdeeds, causes Ryu to fly into a rage and turn into the Kaiser Dragon, causing him a swift end?

Answer: Rasso

General Ursula, who has captured Ryu and co. go to the abandoned village to check on the other villagers from Chek, who were told to evacuate due to the Imperials. Rasso is there, and claims he hasn't seen anyone. However, a small child limps out from behind a ruin and collapses, and thus it's clear he's lying.

He summons Ight, his strongest creation, to get revenge on the party. After it renders Ryu unconscious, he will turn into the Kaiser Dragon and remove its shield with its breath - it is easy to destroy soon after. He kills Rasso and his forces (except Ursula), because he can't control this power, but he is calmed down. In a monologue, Nina claims this is the first time she's ever been afraid of Ryu.
9. Other than from Masters, which of these is a way of learning Enemy Skills?

Answer: At least one person must defend the turn one is used

Enemy Skills, for example, include 'Burn'. The use of these skills can turn the tide of a battle. Whilst there are level-based skills, they aren't Enemy Skills and differ from any Enemy Skills you could learn, even if some are very similar. Enemy Skills can be transferred to other party members using Aurum in camp, and some can only be learned from Masters, and some only from enemies.
10. What is the 'special ingredient' that makes the hex aimed at the Soma Forest created so deadly?

Answer: The tortured soul of Mami

At Astana lies the Carronade, the hex cannon. The aqueduct used to enter the military station earlier in the game is used to provide cooling water for this cannon. The hex uses the feelings of pain and torture and manifests them into a blast of negative energy, which attracts ghostly, dark creatures. The hex was fired with the sole aim of killing Fou-lu, and what makes this particular hex sad is that Mami was used for its output. She was one of the few who showed Fou-lu compassion in the story, so much so that she helped him escape knowing she would be captured.

The hexes were also used in wartime - Synesta was once cursed with the hex, but was cleansed. The majority of Chamba is affected by the hex, although the hex cleansers were in the process of purifying it.
