Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A lengthy and climactic bridge scene can be found in The Parish, a stage in what zombie horror game?

Answer: Left 4 Dead 2

The campaign of "Left 4 Dead 2", if played in order, takes the survivors (a group consisting of Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle) from Georgia to New Orleans, ending in 'The Parish' with the characters racing across a lengthy bridge to catch a military escape helicopter that will take them away from the carnage. Once the bridge is opened up, it's a mad dash to escape the horde.

The bridge is destroyed by an air strike shortly after these events while any survivors are flown to a quarantine elsewhere.
2. There's a bridge down Highway 17 that needs to be crossed several times in what Valve PC game?

Answer: Half-Life 2

At about the half-way point of "Half-Life 2", the bridge on Highway 17 is a spot that needs to be traversed a least a handful of times. Following the more tense Ravenholm sequence (head-crabs!), Highway 17 involves a bit more unique maneuvering (on the girders beneath).

The tension mounts a bit more when you have to dodge more headcrabs, some zombies, and-- oh yeah-- a gunship, but it's all par for the course. Things are only going to get a bit more complicated as you go.
3. The Village Bridge crosses between Opelucid City and Lacunosa Town in Unova in which of these "Pokémon" series games?

Answer: Pokemon Black and White

Sitting between Routes 11 and 12 on the Unova map, the Village Bridge is one of many to appear in the continent which, weirdly, doesn't happen to often. Many earlier "Pokémon" games omit traditional bridges. The ones in "Black" and "White", however, are full of trainers and the like.

The Village Bridge actually features a restaurant known for sandwiches which, as it would seem, franchised out at some point; you can visit a Village Bridge Restaurant in Hoenn in the "Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire" games.
4. Originally for PC, what bridge simulation game requires you to use different materials to get a vehicle from one side of a canyon to another?

Answer: Poly Bridge

Originally released on Steam (for PC and Mac OS), "Poly Bridge" is a fairly cartoony bridge simulator which simply requires that you craft structures strong enough to transport a vehicle across. Sometimes this means making loops or ramps; sometimes this means making relatively unstable architecture.

The goal is to adapt to changing variables throughout, whether that mean different materials (at different costs), different settings, or different vehicles. The game was also, later, released for Nintendo Switch.
5. The delicious-sounding Cheese Bridge Area is one of many food-themed levels in what classic SNES game from 1990?

Answer: Super Mario World

Sitting between Vanilla Dome and Cookie Mountain (which leads into the Forest of Illusion), Cheese Bridge Area is one of the few levels to lead the player to Castle #4 (Ludwig Von Koopa's lair). Although players maneuvering their way through secret levels and hidden exits can bypass Cheese Bridge Area's main route completely, players following the main track will be privy to courses that seem to float on air, transporting Mario through stages full of buzzsaws and flying Koopas. With luck, you can even access the difficult-to-reach stage, Soda Lake.
6. Rialto Bridge and Ponte Vecchio are both real-world bridges that you can visit in what 2009 action-adventure title?

Answer: Assassin's Creed II

"Assassin's Creed II" puts the player into the role of Ezio, an Italian assassin performing his duty in the Renaissance Era. As such, you get to visit several famous Italian cities and locations, perching yourself high up on Duomos or engaging in shady deals on the bridges and rivers in old Italy.

The Rialto Bridge is found in Venice and Ponte Vecchio is in Florence; both are very distinctive landmarks. The game also takes the player to the Vatican City and outlying regions in Tuscany.
7. Algonquin Bridge, Broker Bridge, and Leaper's Bridge are all based on real New York City bridges and found in which PS3/Xbox 360 title?

Answer: Grand Theft Auto IV

While the bridges in the game are initially used to control the boundaries that the player can have in the NYC-inspired open world, they will open up as you progress through the story. The four boroughs in-game are meant to reflect the boroughs of real-life New York-- Broker is based on Brooklyn, Dukes is Queens, Bohan is The Bronx, and Algonquin is Manhattan.

It comes as no surprise that the famous bridges are based on these connections. Liberty City is also seen in other games in the series.
8. Damaged during the Ray Sphere Blast, you need to cross the Fremont Bridge as Cole MacGrath in what PS3 exclusive game?

Answer: Infamous

Another game somewhat basing its setting on New York City, "Infamous" sets itself after a horrible disaster that gives its protagonist, Cole MacGrath, superpowers involving electricity. You can choose to be good or evil, but either choice forces you to complete tasks around Empire City, often crossing the dangerous and now-mostly-destroyed Fremont Bridge. Following the blast at the beginning of the game, the bridge is mostly destroyed, but it gets repaired at least a bit to be able to be used (by you) later on.
9. A bridge crossing Shambhala collapses beneath the player's feet in what PS3 exclusive game?

Answer: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Getting to Shambhala in the Himalayas is the major goal in "Among Thieves", the second game of the "Uncharted" series, and the bridge sequence there is a harrowing series of quick-time events that require you to navigate Nathan drake to safety, crossing the span of a crumbling bridge to survive and make it away from the Tree of Life (inevitably). If you make it across, you beat the game and live to fight another day (in "Drake's Deception").
10. The Bridge of Eldin appeared as a stage in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" (Wii), but in what "Legend of Zelda" game did it originally appear?

Answer: Twilight Princess

Although it later appears in "Breath of the Wild", the Bridge of Eldin appeared for the first time on the extensive map of Hyrule in "Twilight Princess". It's the site of one climactic battle against the King Bulbin (which is seen to some extent in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl") but it's revisited at least a couple more times for smaller events.

In "Brawl", it's one of the flattest stages for combat, but it's occasionally destroyed (at least in the center for a little bit), so it's not typically as useful for tournament play as Final Destination.
