Crash the Party Trivia Quiz

Jeff and Judy have furnished their place with the best items a non-existent store has to offer, so they decide there's no better time to host a party...but such is a fickle dream. "The Sims (1)" and its expansions are all originally for the PC.

Question 1 of 10
1. Jeff and Judy have a great deal of disposable income from their money laundering scheme (deemed 'The Rosebud Project') and it only makes sense to throw a crazy party with forty-seven of their closest friends and neighbours. To start the festivities they purchase a Fancy Feet Cake Treat (found in the "House Party" expansion) and hire an entertainer by the name of 'Cinnabon' (she's a sweet treat, duh.)

The party gets a bit awkward soon after, experiencing its first hitch. What does 'Cinnabon' do around the other guests?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. People are getting a bit disappointed with the party early on, so Jeff and Judy invite the crowd for a tour of their art gallery (just off the main corridor, next to the second parlor). Amongst their collection is the "Tragic Clown" Painting (a "Livin' Large" item), a kitsch piece they bought at a rummage sale for $45.

Because everyone at the party is already feeling pretty disappointed, a Tragic Clown ('Bonky the Clown', for those wondering) appears for the festivities. Who is Judy going to call to get rid of the unwelcome guest?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Okay-- Jeff and Judy's party has taken some hits but they won't admit defeat. The crowd changes into their pool gear and heads to the backyard only to come face to face with (GASP) a mime. They don't catch his name, unfortunately, but it seems he's trapped in a glass box!

Judy can't call anyone this time; Jeff decides he's not troubling anyone, so he can stay. In fact, he's making everyone feel a bit better with his antics. Unfortunately, the mime is also guilty of which of the following?
Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. 'Cinnabon' finds her way into a small activity room to find Jeff and Judy's favourite new acquisition, The "Concoctanation Station", a chemistry lab they picked up (at a steal) for $980 (thanks to the "Livin' Large" expansion). She spends a few minutes mixing up a dark green potion and imbibes a bit in her creation. Unfortunately, her Logic skills don't transcend escaping oversized cakes.

What happens when she drinks the dark green potion?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Judy, stressed that the party isn't going as planned, leaves Jeff to maintain the guests and festivities while she takes a relaxing bath in her jacuzzi, something she does to unwind almost daily. Unfortunately, money can't always buy you workmanship; the tub leaks, spilling a large amount of water all over the bathroom floor.

Which of these would she need to fix it on her own?
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. What do you know-- massive house, one bathroom. Judy's impromptu bath, having sprung a leak, proves to be a further problem when the party guests are unable to use the toilet-- the leak is too big.

This proves to be a horrible issue. Peoples' stats, particularly this one involving needing to go to the bathroom, start dropping. Which stat is running at empty when a guest decides to go to the bathroom on the floor?
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. With the party raging on outside, Jeff decides to make sure all is going well indoors. It's not. When he spots the puddles throughout the house and the leak in the bathroom it's one thing, but he's more disappointed about the Fancy Feet Cake Treat. Left out for as long as it's been, it's attracted which of these pests? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Night falls but the party doesn't end. Judy, ready to show off another purchase, takes a few people to her private balcony to take a look out of her Horwitz "Star-Track" Backyard Telescope (estimated value $2,100 in "Livin' Large"). She's used it a lot lately and can identify famous Sim constellations (constellasims?).

Unfortunately, this provokes a close encounter of the third kind; Judy is abducted by aliens (in a horrible case of bad timing...during a party and all). Will she ever come back?

Question 9 of 10
9. One of the 'Cinnabons' has departed with the majority of the guests but the other has stayed to wander the household behind Jeff's back. When she finds an 'Antique Lamp' (only $375 in "Livin' Large", but it IS an antique...) she decides to bring it out to the yard for a laugh. One can only imagine.

When she rubs the lamp a genie appears and gives her a choice between 'Work' and 'Leisure'. She chooses the latter; she IS at a party, after all. Something spontaneous and bad happens, but what?
Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. The crowd has dispersed; considering the mishaps of the day it's not unrealistic. The Grim Reaper appears to 'Cinnabon'-- apparently Jeff is dead out by the pool. Things have certainly escalated. She's given one chance to save his life: a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors. She goes with rock (trusty rock) and loses.

What happens?
Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jeff and Judy have a great deal of disposable income from their money laundering scheme (deemed 'The Rosebud Project') and it only makes sense to throw a crazy party with forty-seven of their closest friends and neighbours. To start the festivities they purchase a Fancy Feet Cake Treat (found in the "House Party" expansion) and hire an entertainer by the name of 'Cinnabon' (she's a sweet treat, duh.) The party gets a bit awkward soon after, experiencing its first hitch. What does 'Cinnabon' do around the other guests?

Answer: Flirts with the male party-goers

The Fancy Feet Cake Treat isn't expensive in the way of items, but then again you're working with a giant cake-- spending $300 on a giant cake can be pricey, but then again, Jeff and Judy are loaded with money in the same way the Fancy Feet Cake Treat is loaded with people. When you hire an entertainer for the cake they pop out of it at the right moment (presumably before they cut it) to thrill party-goers; the entertainer can be male of female.

The catch is that the entertainer has a chance of being promiscuous, as Sims do, and some will waste no time in getting to know the party guests they find attractive. This can lead to a bit of jealousy and affect the relationships between certain Sims, especially those who are married or developing healthy bonds. You can dismiss 'Cinnabon' immediately after the dance or you can let her mingle and tempt fate.

Jeff and Judy, impervious to bad consequence (remember, they have CASH!), decide to let 'Cinnabon' stay a while. The house now contains fifty people, and its seems that some aren't going home together. But what's a lavish party without a bit of debauchery? (Hint: Not a Jeff and Judy party.)

Answer: The Clown Catchers

The "Tragic Clown" Painting is a mediocre piece of art that can be purchase to add 1 to the value of a room and affect a Sim's 'Room' value. It's not the best thing to hang up but if you're a poor homeowner (which Jeff and Judy are NOT) it can really help build a Sim up (a must if they're gunning for a promotion). Unfortunately, owning one gives you a chance of encountering the tragic clown, a figure who appears when you have the painting and feel depressed or sad. The clown also appears simply because there's a bad party in progress.

When 'Bonky' shows up he lets himself in (yeah...) and proceeds to be miserable. He tries a few tricks here and there, but he only succeeds in spreading the certain brand of misery that only a tragic clown can spread at a party with a giant cake and an art gallery. In fact, being exposed to the Tragic Clown can make your Sims feel even worse. The Tragic Clown will typically only go away on his own, but if you have the "House Party" expansion you can call the Clown Catchers and, for a nominal fee, get him hauled off to wherever clowns go. Judy does just that; after a quick phone call, the Clown Catchers bring Bonky to their vehicle and drive off, presumably to save some other souls.

Answer: Theft

They should've gotten his name! The mime only appears at a party (if you have the "House Party" expansion) if it's not going so well but, unlike the clown, the mime has the ability to turn things around and make a party all the better with his silent antics. Silly mime.

On a slightly more concerning note, the striped entertainer also has a certain affinity toward kleptomania; he will steal from people if not looking. When the party is happy enough again he'll leave of his own accord, with your Sims' belongings no less. Jeff and Judy, too busy with hosting to notice, fail to see the mime take their flat-screen television and microwave before trotting out the front door.

He was clearly lying about being trapped in that box.

Answer: She generates an evil clone

While all of these potions are possibilities, 'Cinnabon's' dark green potion is luck of the draw; it creates a doppelganger figure unlike her in personality. Instead of flirting with men, she decides to flirt with the women. Relationships continue to break double-time.

The "Concoctanation Station" is a funny purchase since so many potions have different options. The Sim becomes a temporary monster and can not be controlled with purple; the Sim refreshes three of their stats with blue; the Sim goes invisible with orange; white actually cures your Sim of any illnesses.

Luckily for Jeff and Judy, The "Concoctanation Station" didn't explode in 'Cinnabon's' face when she used it (it can be temperamental!). On the same note, however, there are now fifty-one guests and the crowd doesn't know how to feel. There are two women breaking up relationships in the mob; there have been a tacky clown and a mime; they even had to tour a pretentious art gallery. Sigh. Parties, eh?

Answer: A high Mechanical stat

Many of the activities in the game are enhanced when your Sims build up their different stat points and, in many cases, it's important to advance in a career; Sims won't get promoted very far without the necessary skill-set. As such, Jeff and Judy try to maintain their Cooking, Mechanical, Creativity, Logic, Body, and Charisma. Usually, Jeff is the one to read up on Mechanical bric-a-brac; she has no idea what to do to fix the leak.

Since the party is in full-swing outside, she uses a mop to clean up a bit of it (hey, it's as much as Servo the $30,000 cleaning robot would ever do), decides not to worry Jeff until after the event, and plans to call a mechanic in the morning. Heck, maybe she can even buy a new jacuzzi-- older appliances with significant use have a higher chance of breaking, so it pays to replace them. Since she has a pile of cash, this will probably be a viable option...but after the party.

Answer: Bladder

All Sims have a number of stat bars to maintain at all times, and having a healthy balance will make for a better Sim. This, however, proves to be a tricky balancing act with tons of tipping points. The guests, likely enjoying swimming and drinking punch from Jeff and Judy's new punch bowl (the Punchcopia Extraordinaria, only for $150), are starting the need the bathroom and there's only the one. With Judy closing it off due to the leak, guests are starting to get uncomfortable until...accidents. When a Sim's bladder stat bar sinks into the red they'll simply go, wherever they are, because holding it in can be dangerous for your kidneys (as they say). Doing so will relieve the bladder bar but, obviously, destroy any hygiene the guest may have had. It will also create more puddles around the house, which is always awkward.

When this starts happening, guests start leaving. Luckily for Jeff and Judy (perhaps), some guests haven't left the backyard and know nothing about the embarrassing occurrences.

Answer: Cockroaches

Cockroaches are indeed pests (not as bad as that Tragic Clown, but close!). If a Sim leaves a mess for too long, ranging from food being left out to leaving a bed unmade for a prolonged time, roaches could appear, seemingly out of nowhere (the darn things are horrible!). To get rid of them, Jeff will need to bust out a can of bug spray and hunt the suckers down. If left to their own devices, roaches could infest other rooms of the house by getting into the walls. Servo the $30,000 robot doesn't mind roaches, but maids do, so it's up to Jeff to save the day.

One quick spray and it's done and over with. Not that anyone can have the cake now that he's fumigated it, of course. He leaves cleaning it for later-- he has a party to attend to.

Answer: Yes

The Horwitz "Star-Track" Backyard Telescope is a pricey toy that can increase your Sim's Logic stat while they have fun. Judy likes looking to the stars but overuse of the item can actually get her abducted by a bright beam of light. Sure, Jeff mourns her for a few moments but his attention is immediately turned back to the party. The odd events, frequent urination, and unsightly mess have led many of the guests to leave and he has to pick up the pieces. He can pay to get his wife back later (they're rich, and money can buy everything, right?).

Actually, she does come back later. She's found in the backyard next to the bushes. She talks about her encounter and something seems off about her; once a Sim is abducted they will always return but their personality will be altered. Judy may never be the same. She decides to go in and fix the tub before paying some bills and calling it a night.

Answer: Jeff's barbecue sets on fire

Darn it, 'Cinnabon'! Haven't you ever seen 'Simladdin'? No? Dag-dag? Too late now. When a Sim polishes the obviously-enchanted magic lamp it will summon forth a genie who will give a choice between two binaries (Love/Money, Family/Friends, Work/Leisure, Fire/Water, Earth/Air). When one is selected there is a chance of something good happening and a chance of something bad happening. In the case of 'Leisure' and 'Fire', the bad thing is, indeed, fire, and it can happen to almost any item in or out of the household. In this case, Jeff's brand new Wild Bill THX-451 Barbecue is ablaze! It's out of control! All of the other guests flee the scene-- hopefully to find a phone, but maybe not. Free will is a fickle thing in "The Sims".

Not all genie options end up bad. She could've received a pot of gold, improved her relationships, or received a big-screen TV (just like a real genie would provide!). Or more! Then again, she could've just ended up with some bills. Luck of the draw.

The fire, unfortunately, overtakes Jeff before he has a chance to put it out. The party seems to be ruined.

Answer: A tombstone is left behind

Death is a cruel and unusual part of "The Sims"; they can starve, go mad (if trapped in a sealed room), set on fire, drown, etc. When this happens, a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors with the Grim Reaper is in order. If it's a win, the Sim lives; if it's a lose, the Sim continues to be dead...or comes back as a zombie. There's a chance that the Grim Reaper won't play at all, so that choice is made for you. Death sucks.

Since Jeff died outside by the pool, a tombstone honouring his death will be placed in the backyard (maybe next to the bushes where they found Judy?). Had he died indoors he would've been sealed in a decorative urn. That probably would've made more sense considering the fire, but you can't argue with the Grim Reaper.

'Cinnabon' puts the Antique Lamp back in the parlor as the barbecue fizzles out outside. She grabs her things and decides to leave without a word.

The next morning, Judy misses work, opting to meticulously clean and repair everything in the house. She's much more interested in mechanics now...and law. She sells her telescope and, somehow, moves on from Jeff. She's not sure what she saw in him anyways. She never has a party again.
