Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of one of Shepard's squad members: Lithium - Argon - Astatine - Sulphur - Oxygen - Nickel.

Answer: Liara TSoni

Liara was an asari squadmember in "Mass Effect" and "Mass Effect 3" (and temporarily in "Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker"). She was the Normandy's resident prothean expert, but could also use her full array of biotic abilities against enemies in the field.
2. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a species: Vanadium - Oxygen - Lutetium - Sulphur.

Answer: Volus

The volus were short, round aliens who lived in pressurized suits. They were not the most combat oriented, focusing more on trade, commerce, and economics. They organized galactic trade, even establishing the credit as a galactic currency.
3. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a location on the Citadel: Tungsten - Argon - Darmstadtium.

Answer: Wards

The Citadel was a large space station, and the hub of galactic politics and trade. The base of the Citadel was the Presidium, where the elite and politicians resided. Coming off the Presidium were five large arms, known as the Wards. The Wards were where the bulk of the population lived, and developed unique cultures because of all the different species living together.
4. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a heavy enemy unit: Astatine - Lanthanum - Sulphur.

Answer: Atlas

Atlases were large mech suits used by Cerberus in "Mass Effect 3". They were the heaviest units Cerberus could field, with strong shields, armor, a big gun, and rockets. Shepard could use armor-piercing weapons to kill the driver of an Atlas, and turn the mech against Cerberus.
5. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a power: Carbon - Hydrogen - Argon - Germanium.

Answer: Charge

Charge was a biotic power that was unique to Vanguards. It let them target an enemy, and then rush at them. Upon impact, the enemy would be stunned, and the Vanguard's barriers would be restored. It was perfect for players who wanted to jump into the middle of a fight and mess things up at close range.
6. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a heavy enemy unit: Bromine - Uranium - Tellurium.

Answer: Brute

Brutes were large reaper units made from different species. They had a turian looking head but that's where the resemblance stopped. They were hulking death machines with large powerful claws. They only had a melee attack, and were only made of armor. Their love of rushing targets could make them easy to dodge, if you had room off to the sides.
7. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a power: Sulphur - Tantalum - Silicon - Sulphur.

Answer: Stasis

Stasis was a biotic power used to hold an enemy still. While in Stasis, the target could not move or attack, but could also usually not be damaged. This could be changed in "Mass Effect" by upgrading the Bastion talent. In "Mass Effect 3", enemies could be damaged in Stasis, and would fall out of it when they had taken too much.
8. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a species: Krypton - Oxygen - Gallium - Nitrogen.

Answer: Krogan

The krogan were a strong and usually violent species. They could live up to a millennium, though many died before that. Their aggressive nature and society led them to seek out stronger and stronger opponents to test themselves against. Originally, they had an incredibly high birthrate, and could grow their population incredibly fast when not killing each other.

When they became a threat to the other species of Citadel space, the krogan rebellions broke out. The rebellions were ended with the development and deployment of the Genophage, which reduced the krogan birth rate to "manageable" levels. Unable to efficiently replace their lost warriors, the krogan were subdued, though their bitterness lasted.
9. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of a power: Indium - Cerium - Neodynium - Iodine - Argon - Yttrium - Americium - Molybdenum.

Answer: Incendiary Ammo

In the first game, ammo modifications were items that could be applied to individual weapons. In "Mass Effect 2", the inventory was done away with almost entirely. Ammo modifications then came in ammo powers, including Incendiary Ammo. Incendiary Ammo, like all fire-based attacks, was excellent against armor, staggering/panicking enemies, and preventing health from regenerating (krogan and vorcha).
10. Use the symbols of the elements to spell the name of an organization: Cerium - Rubidium - Erbium - Uranium- Sulphur.

Answer: Cerberus

Cerberus started off as the enemies in a side-plot in "Mass Effect". In "Mass Effect 2", they became Shepard's employer, and by "Mass Effect 3", they had become a galactic threat that needed to be destroyed. Cerberus' goal was to improve humanity's standing in the galaxy, usually to the detriment of other species.

They conducted political ploys and assassinations, as well as clandestine military operations, to further their agenda.
