Answer: 'Luxor'

'Luxor' was released in 2005 by Mumbo Jumbo. Balls or spheres or marbles roll along a track and the idea is to shoot the same color ball into the string of balls to remove them from the track. The number of balls per screen, the length of the track and its intricacy increase throughout the game. You collect power-ups, coins, gems, etc. during game play.

More versions of 'Luxor' have been released almost every year since the original.

Most sudoku grids are 9 x 9 squares. There are three sets of sub-grids across and down with each containing the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. This game as been around for a long time. PopCap Games released 'Bejeweled' in 2001. Since then, several upgrades and newer versions with better graphics have been released. In 2010, PopCap announced that more than 50,000,000 units had been sold which would make 'Bejeweled' one of the ten best selling video games.

Hidden object games have been around for a while and have grown in popularity. The first of these games just gave you a list of items to find on a page, they were usually timed, and you got a limited number of hints. Now the games tell a story, you advance the storyline by finding items, maybe combining found items, or using items in the scene like finding keys to unlock a desk to find more items.

In some games, you stand in one place and find items. Others give you the ability to move into the area and look 360 degrees in every direction.

Talk about being around a while, according to Wikipedia, the first crossword puzzle was published in an Italian magazine in 1890. Twenty three years later, a word-cross puzzle was published in a London paper, and the name was later changed to crossword, and the rest, as they say, is history.

There are a few types of crossword including one for numbers, one where you start with a blank grid and fill in the words and the shaded areas and one where you complete a sentence and then transfer letters from words in the sentence to the crossword grid.

This one wins the 'old timer' award. A British mapmaker is credited with making the first puzzle of this type in 1760. The original puzzles were pictures painted on wood and then cut into pieces with a...wait for it...jigsaw. They have come a long way over the years and yet, some haven't changed at all. Kids jigsaw toys are usually large wooden pieces (for safety sake). Physical puzzles come as optical illusions, pictures on both sides, metallic finishes, and three dimensional. With computerized jigsaw puzzles, you never have to worry about finding a large enough space to put all the pieces out, turning them all the right way, losing them on the carpet or trying to put dog/cat chewed pieces together.

Did the arachnid give it away or are you addicted to spider solitaire like many folks. Most on-line versions that you see are played with two decks of cards. There is a one-deck version called 'Spiderette' and a harder two-deck version called 'Arachnid Solitaire'. Yes, believe it or not, you can now pop bubble wrap on-line. That game has been around since bubble wrap was invented, right after the first person put a sheet of it on the floor and rolled their work chair over it again and again.

Computerized mahjong or mahjong solitaire is played with the tiles from a traditional mahjong game but is played alone. Traditional mahjong comes from China, is usually played with four people, and involves more than just matching like tiles. In most computerized mahjong games, you can select the background music, scenery, tile color, and character types. You can also determine the placement of the tiles which dictates how difficult it will be to match all tiles to win.

Some games give hints when you're stuck and allow you to shuffle the tiles when no matches remain.

'Adventure Inlay', 'Magic Inlay', 'Puzzle Inlay' are all names for this type of video game. The basic game is the same, you are given a shape and asked to fill it in with small mosaic pieces. If you use some specially marked pieces they give you a hammer or a wand to use to complete the puzzle before large unused pieces stack up and you lose.

As you play, the pieces come faster and faster and sometimes they are all large or very unusual shapes that only fit in the center of a shape. You have to learn to pace yourself and not use only one size or shape per puzzle.
