You obtain the first of these four materia in the Shin-Ra Building after defeating the boss HO152 after saving Aeris. The second of these materia is found in a secret room in Junon. The third is found behind the bed's in the Ancient's house in the Forgotten City. The fourth and final one is obtained by speaking to the Green Chocobo in the Chocobo Sage's house.

The Gil Plus materia is obtained by exchanging 1000 GP in Wonder Square at the Gold Saucer. You obtain Magic Plus materia in the Corall Valley Caves at the bottom of the long ladder. HP Plus materia can only be bought from materia shop's in either Cosmo Canyon or Mideel.

To obtain this materia you first off need to have at least one Samolen Green (a.k.a Mimmet Green) or the Chocobo will completely ignore you. You will see this little fellow running around the Shops in Mideel with a woman who is 'crazy' buying stuff. If you approach the Chocobo and talk to it you can feed it the Green and then you have to choose a place to 'tickle' him. If you 'tickle him behind the ears' he will give you the Contain materia.

This can be done with Cid before Mideel is destroyed or with Cloud after Mideel is destroyed.

This materia can only be found in the Temple of the Ancients. You first have to negotiate the hallway with the rolling boulders then follow Aeris to a small 'pool' of water (which Aeris tells you is a living soul) this shows you a short conversation with Sephiroth and Tseng which ends with Sephiroth striking Tseng down.

After this you can pick up the materia and you really can't miss it as it is right in front of you.

Answer: Ultima

You can still get this materia if you fail to stop the train. The difference here is that you have to pay 50,000 gil for it!

Answer: Final Attack

To obtain this materia you need to fill a number of requirements. First you must obtain 64,000 BP (Battle Points) and purchase the W-Summon materia, then you must gain another 32,000 BP and buy the Omnislash Limit Break. After you have done this you will be given the choice to fight the Regular Battle or the Special Battle. If you take on the Special Battle and get through it you will receive this neat piece of materia, however this can be a tough task due to the monsters, handicaps you may encounter and the last enemy just happens to be your old friend the Proud Clod!

Answer: Snow

You can do this after you snowboard from Icicle Inn. You must first of all touch the Hot Springs in the Great Glacier (if you take a right twice when snowboarding this will give you the quickest trip there) just continue up the screen and you will be there in no time.

After doing this if you keep going you will reach a large area and all you can see is snow. Move forward through this area and you will reach a hut (place landmarks constantly so you keep going in the correct direction) and enter it. Exit and immediately start heading to the right(as you look at the screen) use the landmark trick and you will soon exit this area. Continue heading to the right and you should reach an area with a mountain and there is a doorway in the mountain. Enter the mountain and initiate conversation with the lady in there and she will say "How dare you touch me with the hand that touched that filthy Hot Spring! I'll never forgive you!" Then you will have to fight her. Upon her demise you get the powerful Holy summon Alexander.

This fight is not difficult considering the reward.

Answer: Kalm materia shop

You cannot get the Earth Materia until you have left Midgar. It also has to be bought as you never find an earth materia to pick up for free.

You can actually obtain four pieces of Huge Materia. The first you get from stoppin the Shin-Ra train crashing into North Corel. The second piece is given to you by the old man in Fort Condor after stopping the Shin-Ra attack. The third piece can be found by finding the Red Leader sub you destroyed during the Underwater Reactor mission with your own sub.

The final piece can be found inside the Rocket at Rocket town. You can obtain all four but you can get by even if you get none!

There are seventeen summon materia available in the game but there is a total of twenty summon attacks. The reason for this is that the Choco-Mog materia has two different attacks (Deathblow and Fat-Chocobo) as has Odin (Steel-Bladed Sword and Gunge Lance) and then there is also Sephiroth's summon spell the Supernova.

The seventeen summon materia's are as follows. Choco-Mog, Shiva, Ifrit, Ramuh, Titan, Odin, Leviathan, Bahamut, Kjata, Alexander, Neo-Bahamut, Phoenix, Hades, Typhoon, Bahamut Zero, Knights of the Round and Master Summon.

Answer: Flash

You only find one Slash-All materia during the game and it allows you to hit all opponents with one attack. When it levels up the attack Flash causes instant death on all opponents. This won't work on bosses and there is a small probability it may miss but it is reliable most of the time and can be pretty devastating!

Answer: Choco-Mog and Hades

The Choco-Mog attack Deathblow can cause temporary paralysis unfortunately it does not always work and if the Fat-Chocob attack is used it won't have a chance of causing a staus effect also you have to take into account that some enemies will be immune to paralyze. Hades however inflicts the enemy with almost every status effect in the book. Again some enemies will be immune to some of the attacks but almost all enemies (including some bosses) will be affected by one or two of the negative status's. If you use this attack on weak enemies it will probably kill them but if by some strange twist of fate (highly unlikely!) that they survive the attack they will probably have been affected by petrify or stop.

In any case whether dead or alive this attack will weaken the enemy in some way and then killing it off won't be a problem!

If you succeed in getting the code right first time Cid will be amazed and says "You must have known the code otherwise its impossible!". If you don't Cid will start dropping subtle hints to aid you. If you succeed after this point Cid says that it was his great advice that saved the day (so to speak). If you don't get it right then you lose this piece of Huge Materia forever.

Answer: Blue

If you gained all four pieces of Huge Materia you will have one Green, one yellow, one red and one blue. Summon materia is usually red but to obtain this summon you examine the materia that is usually the colour of support materia (which is blue). But the summon materia you get is still red. Also you MUST succeed in stopping the Shin-Ra Train crashing into North Corel. If you fail you won't get the blue Huge Materia and this is your only chance to get it and therefore you will miss out on the second strongest summon in the game.

Answer: MP Absorb, HP Absorb, Leviathan, Steal As Well

You can gain these materia at two different points in the game (with the exception of the Steal As Well materia). You gain MP absorb from Yuffie if you do the Wutai Sidequest or you can open the chest in the item shop later in the game. For HP Absorb you just either complete the Wutai sidequest and open the chest upstaris in the house filled with Cat's or do the same later in the game. Leviathan can only be obtained by Yuffie and she must defeat Godo (who rewards her with this materia) at the top of the Pagoda of the five sarced Gods again this can be done after the Wutai sidequest or later in the game. To get the Steal As Well materia you must have first done the mission in the Unerwater Reactor (and opened the chest containing the Leviathan Scales) then you can visit the Fire Cave in the Da-Chao mountains in Wutai and extinguish the flames you will get the Dragoon lance (you can obtain this without putting out any flames) first then after putting out the first fire you will get the Oritsuru and after putting out the final fire you can pick up the materia.
