Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many coins can you get from the Game Corner in Celadon City with $1,000?

Answer: Fifty

If you want a good time, you can head to the Game Corner in Celadon City for a bit of gambling on the slot machines. In order to play though, you need to obtain a Coin Case from a restaurant in Celadon City. With the Coin Case, you can buy and hold coins that you receive from other players and that you buy from the cashiers.

These coins can be traded for prizes next door to the Game Corner.
2. On which floor of the Pokémon Tower can one find the healing platform?

Answer: Fifth floor

If you find that you're running low on HP or that you're poisoned or paralyzed while working your way up the Pokémon Tower, you can step into the healing platform on the fifth floor to regenerate your Pokémon. This platform was created by one of the channelers in the tower that broke free of the ghostly spells.

At the top of the tower, you'll need to fight the Marowak and some Team Rocket members, so make sure that you'll be able to last the fights.
3. Is it possible to travel uphill on Cycling Road?

Answer: Yes

Cycling Road, also known as Route 17, is the fastest route to Fuchsia City from the north. To get there, head west from Celadon City. This route also happens to contain HM02 (Fly), which can be used to help you travel from town to town. In order to cross the route, you need to ride your bike downhill. You can also ride uphill as well, but doing this is much slower than riding down or walking elsewhere. To get your bike, find the Bike Voucher in Vermilion City and take it to the bike shop in Cerulean City.
4. How many steps can one take in the Safari Zone?

Answer: 500

When you're in the Safari Zone, you only have to leave if you run out of steps on your counter or if you run out of Safari Balls, which are used in this area to catch wild Pokémon. To enter the park, you must pay $500, but it gets you your supply of Safari Balls and however many Pokémon you catch on the trip. Hopefully, you can make it to the secret house on the other side of the park to obtain HM03 and find the Gold Teeth to obtain HM04 without losing too many steps.
5. What is the cost for a ticket to the Pewter City Museum?

Answer: $50

Visitors of the Pewter City Museum can view the mysterious fossils found in Mt. Moon or meteorites. The Museum also features a small space exhibit on the top floor of the building. If you use HM01 to cut down the bush next to the Museum, you can find the second entrance and get the Old Amber item. If you take this to Cinnabar Island's lab, you can get your own Aerodactyl.
6. How many floors are there in the Silph Co. Building?

Answer: Eleven

When you advance through Silph Co in Saffron City for the first time, you'll need to deal with another invasion of Team Rocket. This time, Giovanni will be in the president's office on the eleventh floor, and the only way up there is by elevator. To reach the top, you need to find the Lift Key and battle your rival.

In "Pokémon Yellow", Jessie and James will also be at the top. If you talk to the right person, you may find the rare Lapras here on the seventh floor. This location is where you'll obtain the Master Ball, and you must fight Giovanni here to enter Sabrina's gym.
7. What is Horsea's only evolved form on the "Red", "Blue", and "Yellow" versions?

Answer: Seadra

Horsea, like quite a few other Pokémon, will only have one evolution. Both Horsea and Seadra are water-type Pokémon found in all three games in various places. Horsea evolves into Seadra at level 32, and they can be caught using various fishing rods in the games. Both Pokémon learn moves like Smoke Screen, Water Gun, Agility, and Hydro Pump.

They also have the ability to learn ice-type and water-type moves through TMs, and they'd be perfect candidates for HM03 (Surf).
8. How many TMs can be found in the game?

Answer: Fifty

TMs (or Technical Machines) are used to teach Pokémon moves that they won't learn through experience. In all, fifty TMs can be found throughout Kanto, and there are five HMs (Hidden Machines) which a Pokémon can use outside of battle. These are Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, and Flash respectively. TMs can only be taught to certain Pokémon.

For example, one could not teach TM11 (Bubblebeam) to Magmar. TMs can be earned through battling gym leaders or they can be earned through events. Some can even be found on the ground.
9. How many Pokémon can evolve using a Moon Stone?

Answer: Four

Nidorina, Nidorino, Clefairy, and Jigglypuff each need the Moon Stone to evolve, and if you're lucky, you can find four throughout the game. All of these Pokémon can be caught in close proximity to Pewter City and Mt. Moon near the beginning of the game, and many of the Moon Stones can be found within Mt. Moon itself.

The Moon Stone works much like any other evolution stone, except it can't be found in shops.
10. Where do you experience your first battle upon starting the game?

Answer: Pallet Town

As soon as you arrive at Professor Oak's lab to receive your Pokémon, your rival will choose his as well. Regardless of what you choose in "Pokémon Red or Blue", his will have a type-advantage against yours, but in "Pokémon Yellow", it'll be an Eevee. You will then proceed to have your first battle with two level 5 Pokémon. Since no one has a type-advantage at this point in the game, you should be able to win simply by using your default attack command, whether it be Tackle or otherwise.
