Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Human players will find their home instance in Divinity's Reach. What is this instance called?

Answer: Salma District

Personal storylines tell the story of your character, right from humble beginnings in their chosen starting area to the climactic battle against Zhaitan, with branching quests determined by the choices you make throughout your story. For humans, their home instance is Salma District in the great Krytan city of Divinity's Reach, where they can interact with several key figures in their storyline. For norn characters, their home instance is contained within the Great Lodge of Hoelbrak, in an area called the Hunter's Hearth. Charr players will find themselves in the Hero's Canton during some points in their storyline, whilst the asuran home instance is the Applied Development Lab in Rata Sum, and the sylvari make their home in the Dreamer's Terrace section of The Grove.
2. Of the four Charr legions, which one is an enemy to the other three (and consequently cannot be chosen during character creation)?

Answer: Flame Legion

Members of the Iron Legion pride themselves on their ability to create machinery and construct all manner of devices capable of reducing their enemies to dust. The leader of the legion, more commonly referred to as an imperator, is Smodur the Unflinching.

The Ash Legion prefers to use cunning, trickery and stealth to their advantage and is led by Malice Swordshadow. The Blood Legion can be considered to be the legion most likely to charge into battle and wreak havoc. Notable members of this bloodthirsty legion include the imperator Bangar Ruinbringer, member of Destiny's Edge Rytlock Brimstone, and Almorra Soulkeeper, leader of the Vigil.

The Flame Legion is a group of Charr who are highly religious and believe in 'false deities', namely the Titans and more recently Gaheron Baelfire, who seeks to elevate himself to god-like status.

The Flame Legion's mastery of magic and the power they derive from these false gods have seen them become strong enough to fight back against all three of the other legions, and therefore pose a threat not just to Ascalon but to Tyria as well.
3. The grand Asuran capital city of Rata Sum is, in essence, shaped like what prism?

Answer: Cube

In the previous game, 'Guild Wars: Eye of the North', the asura were driven out of their subterranean homes when the threat of the Destroyers and the movements of the dragons began. They constructed a crude, but functional outpost on the surface of Tyria, which became a major hub on the Tarnished Coast. 250 years on, and the asura have progressed phenomenally, leaving the rest of Tyria behind with their incredible technological and magical advances, allowing them to create a new Rata Sum, a giant city cube suspended high above the Tarnished Coast, connected to the continent by portals known as asura gates.
4. The Norn huntress and sculptor Eir Stegalkin, a member of the legendary guild Destiny's Edge, is ever accompanied by her faithful pet wolf. What is his name?

Answer: Garm

Eir was actually the leader of Destiny's Edge, but the dissolution of the guild threw her name into disrepute. Determined to reunite the estranged former members, Eir, along with her vulpine companion Garm, enlists the help of the player during a few dungeons and story missions, and acts as a sort of mentor/advisor in the early stages of a norn player's unfolding saga.
5. There are five members of Destiny's Edge, with each one being of a different race. Caithe represents which race?

Answer: Sylvari

Caithe, a sylvari first-born thief, first appears to sylvari players during the very beginning of their life, when they are still in The Dream and haven't been 'born' yet. In it, Caithe guides the player through the landscape to a climactic battle with a minion of Zhaitan who had 'invaded' The Dream and threatened the sanctity of this ethereal state of being.
6. Upon reaching level 30, players are able to access the first of the game's dungeons. Which dungeon is this?

Answer: Ascalonian Catacombs

In the Ascalonian Catacombs, Rytlock Brimstone teams up with your party in the hopes of finding (and rescuing) Eir Stegalkin from the depths of the dungeon. As the first dungeon of the game, it is intended to introduce players to this new style of play, but that's not to say it's easy. Cooperation and communication between party members is the key to completing these dungeons, especially during some of the more fiendish moments where parties can be overwhelmed in a matter of moments. Luckily, waypoints are unlocked throughout the course of the dungeon, and an armour repair station situated at the beginning allows players to easily fix up their gear and get straight back into the action. Dungeons feature two modes: story and explorable. Story mode is rather self explanatory, and relates to the overall campaign, whereas explorable mode (which is unlocked after story mode is completed) offers multiple paths through the dungeon and an even greater challenge with greater rewards.

The game's eight dungeons are, in order: Ascalonian Catacombs, Caudecus' Manor, Twilight Arbor, Sorrow's Embrace, Citadel of Flame, Crucible of Eternity, Honor of the Waves, and Arah.
7. When interacting with some characters (and, indeed, during character creation), you can choose a response that will increase one of three personality types. Which one of these three does not exist?

Answer: Pacifism

During character creation, you can choose the sort of personality your character will start out with, and whether they would use their charm, dignity or ferocity to overcome a situation. Interacting with NPCs throughout the world will sometimes allow players to select a response which will increase one of the three personality types.

The more personality you have, the more often you'll be able to choose that response, and dialogue with NPCs will reflect this.
8. Which Krytan zone is sandwiched between Queensdale and Kessex Hills to the west, Harathi Hinterlands to the north, Snowden Drifts and Lornar's Pass to the east and Lion's Arch to the south?

Answer: Gendarran Fields

Gendarran Fields is a level 25-35 zone, which once again sees the humans protecting their lands from the invading centaur tribes. Lake Gendarr sits at the centre of the zone, policed by marauding pirates who will put up a considerable fight should an unwary traveller stumble into their midst.

A network of subterranean, water-filled caves in the south conceal Swashbuckler's Cove, a jumping puzzle guarded by ghosts, skale and vicious moa birds. Players wishing to continue on through Kryta after completing this zone should head north to Harathi Hinterlands, a level 35-45 zone home to the Harathi centaurs, among others.
9. The Shatterer, a fierce servant of the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik, can actually be fought in an event in which eastern zone?

Answer: Blazeridge Steppes

According to Tyrian lore, the Shatterer is not one specific dragon, but a title, that is passed to the next dragon upon the original dragon's death. The Shatterer can be seen flying through the skies of Blazeridge Steppes, casting a shadow across its domain.

A series of events can be triggered once every so often that culminate in a showdown between this crystalline dragon and anyone nearby who is up for a fight.
10. The artificer crafting discipline, aside from crafting some runes and consumables, would otherwise be entirely useless (from a weapon-crafting point of view) for which of the following professions?

Answer: Warrior

"Guild Wars 2" has eight crafting disciplines: armoursmith, artificer, chef, huntsman, jeweller, leatherworker, tailor, and weaponsmith. Artificers are responsible for crafting staves, scepters, focuses, tridents, and potions, and are therefore useful to caster professions like the elementalist, the mesmer and the necromancer. Guardians, although heavily-armoured, can also benefit from this discipline, since they are able to wield staves, scepters and focuses on land and tridents in aquatic environments.
