Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What spell does Professor Sprout teach Harry?

Answer: Diffindo

Diffindo is used to sever plants. After learning the spell, Harry must complete the Diffindo challenge, which is accomplished by reaching the giant star at the end. The quicker he completes the challenge, the more house points Harry receives. If Harry's house (Gryffindor) earns the most points, he can take a trip into the bean bonus room, an area of Hogwarts filled with Bertie Bott's beans. Beans are important in this game, since they can be used to trade for other items.
Ron teaches Harry the Lumos spell (a spell that creates light from the end of the wand), since it is a spell Harry learned the previous year and Ron wants to make sure Harry remembers it.
Professor Flitwick, the Charms teacher, instructs Harry on the Skurge spell (a spell that removes a ghost's ectoplasm). Professor Lockhart teaches Rictusempra (a stunning spell).
2. To make the Wiggenweld Potion, Harry needs to place two ingredients into a cauldron. These cauldrons are found all around Hogwarts and its grounds. However, in which location can Harry not find a cauldron?

Answer: Inside Hagrid's hut

The Wiggneweld Potion allows Harry to regain some of his stamina. To create it, Harry needs to place Wiggentree bark and Flobberworm mucus into a cauldron. For each pair that he places into a cauldron, he creates one potion. When Snape teaches Harry to make the potion, they use the cauldron in Snape's classroom.

This cauldron can be used in other instances as well. Furthermore, Harry can also find cauldrons in a variety of places including Gryffindor common room, bottom of the Grand Staircase, Forbidden Forest, near the staircase right after entering the main doors of Hogwarts, Herbology greenhouse, a few hallways and classrooms, and even deep within the Chamber of Secrets. Hagrid's hut, on the other hand, contains no cauldrons.

In fact, Harry can't even go inside Hagrid's hut.
3. After Harry's initial dueling lesson, he has the chance to practice dueling against other students. What does Harry bet before he competes in a duel?

Answer: Beans

Harry's first dueling lesson is presided over by Professors Snape and Lockhart. Harry's opponent is Draco Malfoy. Harry can perform one of three spells: Rictusempra (stuns an opponent), Mimblewimble (confuses an opponent), and Expelliarmus (reflects an opponent's spell). The goal is to cause the opponent's stamina to reach zero before Harry's stamina reaches zero.
After this initial lesson, Harry can challenge students standing near the Great Hall. Before he begins, Harry must bet a predetermined number of Bertie Bott's beans. If Harry wins, he keeps his beans and gains the same amount of beans from his opponent. If Harry loses, he must give up the beans.
At any time between the initial dueling lesson and the end of the game can Harry challenge an opponent to a dueling match.
4. What spell does Harry learn last?

Answer: Spongify

The spells that Harry learns from different professors are, in order, Rictusempra, Skurge, Diffindo, and Spongify. Professor Lockhart teaches Harry the Spongify spell. In fact, he is the only professor to teach Harry more than one spell (the Rictusempra spell and the Spongify spell).
Casting the Spongify spell allows Harry to light up a carpet. When Harry jumps on the carpet, he will bounce across great distances and over long gaps. It also allows Harry to jump up to a higher area without the use of stairs. To identify one of these carpets, Harry needs to look for a green spiral shape.
5. In which of the following places can Harry only visit once?

Answer: Dumbledore's study

The only time Harry can visit Dumbledore's office is when Professor McGonagall takes Harry to his office. This occurs right after finding a ghost, Nearly Headless Nick, petrified because of the basilisk. Prior to the actual meeting between Harry and Dumbledore, Harry can do a number of things. Among these things are collecting Bertie Bott's beans, gaining wizard cards, and cast spells. Once Harry approaches Fawkes the phoenix, Fawkes bursts into flames, Harry meets with Dumbledore regarding the attacks, then Harry leaves Dumbledore's office.
The Skurge challenge, along with any of the other challenges, can be revisited by entering through the exit door. The wand movement for each spell is located above each door so that Harry knows which challenge area he is walking into.
Other places that Harry can only visit once include the Forbidden Forest, Slytherin common room, and the Chamber of Secrets.
6. Several students at Hogwarts will trade objects with Harry. Which is not one of these objects they will give to Harry?

Answer: Bertie Bott's beans

Harry must trade Bertie Bott's beans for objects, but he will never get beans in return. For 50 beans, a student will give Harry some flobberworm mucus. For 75 beans, Harry will receive wiggentree bark. The price of gold and silver wizard cards varies from student to student and even with the same student.

Therefore, if too high a price is offered, all Harry needs to do is walk away from the student, come back a few seconds later, and the trading price will be either higher or lower. Flobberworm mucus and wiggentree bark are good for Wiggenweld potion. Gold wizard cards serve no purpose unless a player wants to get 100% completion. Silver wizard cards allow Harry to explore a secret area in Hogwarts and get the opportunity to earn the eleven gold wizard cards.
7. Of the forty silver wizard cards, how many must be collected to unlock a secret room on the first floor?

Answer: Forty

The silver wizard cards can be found in Hogwarts and in its grounds. Students also have silver wizard cards, so if Harry misses one, he can collect it from a student. In fact, Harry can collect all forty silver wizard cards from students. For every ten silver wizard cards Harry collects, Harry will receive a key, which will open one of four locks on the door to the secret room. Once all forty silver wizards are collected, the door becomes completely unlocked and Harry can enter.

When Harry enters, he can complete an additional challenge and along the way collect eleven gold wizard cards. Harry can view these eleven cards by walking around the corridor of the secret room. By entering through the exit of the challenge, Harry can exit the secret area.
8. Who is not pictured on one of the eleven gold wizard cards?

Answer: Bathilda Bagshot

Gold wizard cards can be found after unlocking the secret room at Hogwarts (on the first floor). While completing the extra task, eleven gold wizard cards can be found throughout the task. The order in which they appear are Bertie Bott, Albus Dumbledore, Godric Gryffindor, Herpo the Foul, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, Montague Knightly, Paracelsus, Carlotta Pinkstone, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Harry Potter.

The challenge can be completed as often as possible, so if Harry does not get all eleven cards in one go-through, he can always try again.
9. Which character does not appear in the video game?

Answer: Colin Creevey

In the book and the movie, Colin Creevey is a first year Gryffindor student who is obsessed with Harry and always has a camera with him. He later gets petrified by the basilisk. In the video game, he does not appear.
Filch is seen cleaning up messes made throughout Hogwarts. Peeves the poltergeist is hiding in some chests. If Harry opens one of them, he must fight Peeves. Professor Dumbledore makes appearances throughout the school year, including informing Harry if he can visit the bean bonus room if Gryffindor has enough house points.
10. In the book and the movie, it is revealed that Tom Riddle is actually Voldemort. Is this connection revealed in the video game as well?

Answer: Yes

After Harry's adventures within the Chamber of Secrets, he meets Tom Riddle and an unconscious Ginny Weasley. Tom reveals that Ginny has been writing in the diary, allowing Tom to pour his soul into her. This allowed Ginny to open the Chamber of Secrets. Tom revealed that he, like Ginny, opened the Chamber of Secrets, and that this was before he became Voldemort.
After Tom and Harry's discussion, Tom releases a basilisk onto Harry, and it is up to Harry to defeat the basilisk.
