Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is War's sword named?

Answer: Chaoseater

Constantly using Chaoseater to defeat enemies allows it to 'gain experience' and become more powerful as each threshold is reached. Defeating enemies also adds to War's Chaos Form meter (hence the name), which in turn allows War to enter a temporary state of heightened power when the meter is at its maximum level.
2. Which of these weapons can War not wield?

Answer: Hammer

War's three primary weapons are his sword Chaoseater, the scythe, and the Tremor Gauntlet. The scythe is purchased from Vulgrim for 1000 souls and features its own set of move combinations. In the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, players are able to enter the Options menu and input a special code to unlock the Harvester, the scythe wielded by War's brother, Death.

The Harvester, when unlocked, replaces War's scythe and, subsequently, any experience gained from using the original scythe disappears.

The Crossblade is acquired in the Twilight Cathedral and becomes invaluable to War as it can attack enemies at range, and manipulate the immediate environment by transferring certain effects to other places. For example, War can target a flame and a bomb with the Crossblade and have it pick up the flame, take it to the bomb, and ignite it. Mercy is the name of War's pistol, which has an infinite supply of supernatural ammunition, allowing him to continuously fire at ranged enemies at the cost of reduced impact damage.
3. There are three types of soul that War can collect. Which of these is not in the game?

Answer: Red souls to fuel War's Chaos Form

Defeating enemies rewards War with blue souls, and sometimes green and yellow souls as well, depending on the relative difficulty of the foe. Blue souls can be traded to Vulgrim in return for moves, consumables, and weapon enhancements. Green health souls are generally found inside chests, usually just before or in the same arena as a significant enemy encounter. Likewise, yellow souls are predominantly found in chests, and allow War to recover some of his wrath which, in turn, allows him to use his powerful wrath abilities. War's Chaos Form does not require souls to charge up. Merely attacking foes will cause War to naturally build up chaos, and this can be augmented further by adding certain enhancements to War's weapons.
4. Where does the great bat Tiamat make her lair?

Answer: Twilight Cathedral

The Twilight Cathedral is the first dungeon of the game, and houses Tiamat, the first of the Chosen, the powerful disciples of the Destroyer. Using a combination of long-range fireball shooting, powerful swinging claws and deadly shockwaves, she can prove to be a tough challenge.

The key to defeating her, like many other enemies, is timing. War must utilise his Crossblade to detonate bombs and bring Tiamat down into the arena, and then repel her swift ram attacks before getting in a few strikes with Chaoseater.
5. Who gives War the task of retrieving the hearts of the Chosen?

Answer: Samael

Samael resides in the Scalding Gallows, and requires four hearts of the Chosen to open the path to the Black Throne, where the Destroyer waits. War frees him from his prison, and in return, Samael grants War some special abilities, including Shadowflight (allowing War to glide for a few seconds after jumping) and the Chronomancer ability (which allows War to slow down time temporarily whilst he remains at normal speed). Though there are five Chosen, Samael only needs four, since the fifth of the Chosen resides in the Black Throne itself and, in essence, doesn't have a heart.
6. Which key item is obtained in the Black Throne?

Answer: Voidwalker

The Voidwalker is a rather unique piece of equipment. It allows War to create a set of two portals which he can use to access normally unreachable areas. The Voidwalker can only place portals on special red-orange circular surfaces. Charging up the Voidwalker before placing a portal creates a portal with the ability to propel War out of it at high speed. Similarities have been drawn between the Voidwalker and the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device from the 'Portal' series of games, though, of course, there are differences too, such as the ability to shoot a high-velocity portal as mentioned before, and also to shoot portal through a portal.
7. Where does War reunite with his phantom horse Ruin?

Answer: The Ashlands

After fighting through hordes of demons, War will find himself in a large arena facing off against a demon rider who rides on War's horse, Ruin. Once the rider is finally defeated, War and Ruin are reunited, and he is then able to summon his horse at will, allowing him to outrun the deadly Ashworms who roam the sands of the Ashlands. Ruin is so invaluable that he is necessary during the fight against the Stygian, and part of the final fight against the Destroyer.
8. At some points during his travels, War may find himself facing off against a polite, gentlemanly creature. What is its name?

Answer: Wicked K

War can only encounter Wicked K four times during the game: outside the Twilight Cathedral, near Anvil's Ford, in the Choking Grounds, and in a pipe in the Drowned Pass. Wicked K is unlike the other Wicked creatures War encounters, due to his polite demeanour and the fact that he wears a top hat and carries a cane.

He is not to be underestimated, however; he packs a considerable punch and can block many of War's attacks. When he is defeated, he gives War a considerable amount of souls and disappears.

The character of Wicked K was a last minute addition to the game by the developers as a sort of company in-joke.
9. Which angel, leader of the Hellguard, does War do battle with twice during his quest?

Answer: Uriel

The first time that War and Uriel face off against each other is after he and Ulthane compete to see who can bring down the most angels, near Anvil's Ford. The second time is when War is searching for pieces of the Armageddon Blade and he arrives at the Dry Road. Both War and Uriel enter into the Nex Sacramentum, or Death Oath, meaning that one of them must die at the hands of the other.

The oath is fulfilled at the climax of the game, after Abaddon's defeat, when Uriel kills War but causes him to be resurrected by breaking the Seventh Seal.
10. Where does War meet his equal, Shadow War?

Answer: Eden

Azrael uses his power as an Archangel to transport himself and War to Eden, where the fabled Tree of Knowledge resides. It is here that War discovers the truth about the Destroyer and the mythical Armageddon Blade, and also where he dons the Mask of Shadows and fights his Shadow self (paying possible homage to Dark Link from 'The Legend of Zelda' series, upon which 'Darksiders' draws much of its inspiration).
