Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "KYLE!" Salami exclaimed. "I have more questions!" "Uh..." Kyle trailed off. "Please implore." "Well, I figured I'd save a couple good questions for you." "No, I mean it. Go ahead- I'm ready." Which of these games involves a young boy trying to save his love, Kairi, and his friend, Riku, but keeps running into Organization XIII?

Answer: Kingdom Hearts 2

"Kingdom Hearts II" was released for the PS2 in 2005. It follows "Kingdom Hearts" and takes place one year after "Chain of Memories", although you do not have to play the GameBoy Advance game to understand what happens in the "Kingdom Hearts" sequel. The main characters in play are Sora, and his two allies, Donald and Goofy from Disney fame.

The first game, "Kingdom Hearts" was released in 2002, and "Chain of Memories" was released in 2004.
2. "ARGH!" Kyle exclaimed. "What, what, what?" Salami asked concernedly. "Nothing much. I'm just in the mood for something over-the-top, fun, and ecstatic." "What do you have in mind? In what game can you dance with Agent J, Agent Morris, and Agent Derek to save the world from the Rhombulans?

Answer: Elite Beat Agents

Hailed critically, the DS game "Elite Beat Agents" was remade from the earlier-released Japanese title "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan". Under the Touch! Generations label, the game became a cult classic. Players use the DS touchscreen to hit stationary, moving, or spinning markers to the rhythm of a selected song.

In all cases, the song follows a basic story along with the tapping. As an Elite Beat Agent, your moves will generally assist the character in need, and the more on-the-beat you are, the better the outcome and score and grade (the latter two of which are given to you by Commander Kahn who gives a big 'YEAAAA!' and thumbs up).

In the end, it's up to the agents, to save the world from the Rhombulans, an evil alien species that just happens to hate music enough to turn everyone into stone. Sounds about right. AGENTS ARE GO!
3. "I like to relate to the characters in my games," Salami continued. "Even if your characters are zombies?" Kyle asked. "No...I meant more along the lines of series of games. It gives me a chance to empathize with some of my favourite faces." What trilogy involves a raccoon thief who tries to steal back things that were rightfully stolen?

Answer: Sly Cooper

All of these video games involves a raccoon, with both "Sly Cooper" and "Rocket" involving a raccoon as the MAIN character. Both were made by Sucker Punch Productions. "Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus" was released in 2002 for the PS2. "Sly 2: Band of Thieves" was released in 2004, again for the PS2 only. "Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves" was the final in the trilogy, released in 2005.
4. "Sometimes though," Kyle added, "it's just nice to get a freebie." "What do you mean?" Salami asked. "Well think about this:" Which game was not bundled with the PSP handheld in North America?

Answer: Silent Hill: Origins

Packaged as holiday bundles or to push a limited version of the system, many games have been sold alongside the Sony Playstation Portable in a push to boost sales. In many instances, it's worked quite well. Bigger titles such as "Daxter", "Madden NFL '09", "God of War: Chains of Olympus", and "Battlefront" have been a perfect combination with the device, allowing a user to tap into their favourite genres and franchises right off the bat.

In many cases, these have also been accompanied by UMD movies and a Memory Stick Pro Duo for good measure.

These limited edition models are often colour-themed based on the game it is released with. For example, the "Star Wars: Battlefront" PSP-2000 was released with an image of Darth Vader on the back. When the PSP-3000 was released in October 2008, "Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters", one of the major titles of the system in that year, was released with the once-again-revised model.
5. Salami spoke next. "Speaking of freebies then, "Wii Sports" is certainly a good example." "To be honest, it's the only time I can truly play golf," Kyle responded. "I like bowling the best." In "Wii Sports," you can change the color of your ball in bowling, but how do you change the bowling alley?

Answer: You can't

In "Wii Sports," you can change several things, like ball color, glove color, and you can even change the tennis background! You cannot, however, switch bowling alleys in any way, shape, or form. To change the color of your ball, click a directional button while the screen is black after clicking A to get into the game. To change the glove color, you first must win in boxing, to earn the golden gloves, after reaching pro status. To change the court in tennis from the green court with an audience to the blue practice court, click the 2 while the screen is black after clicking A to get into the game.

There are several other secrets and codes lurking in this game. For instance, did you know, that in "Power Throws" bowling in the training mode, there is a trick? When you play, and you get to the 91 pin throw, throw your ball on either the far left of far right side, and slant it TOWARDS the wall slightly. Lob the ball to get it onto the wall, and if you have it right, it will ride all the way down.

At the end, it will hit a red button, and it will explode, and all 91 pins will fall down from the center out. You will automatically get the 91X2 score for that round.
6. "MAXIS, MAXIS, MAXIS!" Kyle shouted. "Good segue," Salami replied. "I'm a master of conversation. Speaking of which, I've got a connection for this." Maxis is the company behind "The Sims" and "SimCity". What is the name of the universal Sim language?

Answer: Simlish

Although Simlish doesn't exist in real life, this quirky dialect from Maxis' "Sims" games is certainly something to take note of. Expressions are enhanced, body language is given more meaning, and Sims are given that extra little something for personality allowing for more depth and uniqueness in every last little Sim of the virtual neighbourhood. The sad thing is I have yet to under stand what 'dag-dag' means...
According to Maxis, the Simlish language is mostly formed from syllables originating from Ukrainian and certain Filipino dialects. Regardless of what a Sim says in this language, and regardless of how long you try to spend in translating 'dag-dag' and other confusing non-words, the character will usually provide a thought bubble of insight into what they're really thinking in their independent little minds.
Then again, we all know that 'dag-dag' can't mean both 'I'm hungry' and 'My bladder's full', can it?
7. "One thing about newer systems that I like is user-friendliness", Salami said. "I know," Kyle said, "Next-gen systems tend to push the avatars, internet connections, marketplaces, downloads, and otherwise, don't they." "Everything is at the end of the controller though, and that's part of what's great about it." What must you do to keep news showing up on the Wii Menu?

Answer: Check the news regularly

If you don't check the news from the Wii Menu regularly, the news channel will stop showing news headlines. If you check it regularly, it will register that you DO actually use this channel, and it will keep the news blips showing. Checking the weather daily will not keep the news channel up and running, but you can set the weather channel up to show your location every time you click on it.

There may be a download games section, but it does not matter how often you use it: it is always there! You can hook up the internet, and you can stay in as long as you want, even when your Wii is off.

However, you cannot access the weather OR news channel if you do not have your internet connection on at all!
8. "One game to continue with unmatched popularity over the years is "Pokemon"," Kyle began. "I have to admit though, that the earlier iterations of the game were better than the newer ones." "Why is that?" Salami asked. "Well, once you get into the game, you begin to know it all. The earlier Pokemon and regions stand out in my mind even without the game in front of me." Which instance is not true?

Answer: Igglybuff can be caught in Johto

"Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow" were situated in Kanto and players could find Psyduck in various places from Route 6 to Route 25. Psyduck can also be found in nearly every other traditional "Pokemon" game reaching to "Diamond" and "Pearl". Psyduck evolves into Golduck, which can also be found in numerous locations across the series' library.
Johto is found in "Pokemon Gold and Silver" and it's connected to Kanto in many different ways. Although Igglybuff was introduced in these games, it can't be caught until "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl". You can, however, breed Pokemon to make an Igglybuff, which in turn evolves into Jigglypuff.
Hoenn is found in "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire" for the Game Boy Advance. Electrike is found on two routes in both games and it evolves into Manectric at level 26.
Sinnoh is found in "Pokemon Diamond and Pearl" for the Nintendo DS. Piplup is the water starter Pokemon option and he is obtained at Lake Verity. You also have a choice between Chimchar, the fire option, and Turtwig, the grass option.
9. "This means war!" Salami shouted. "What does?" Kyle asked. "This is co-op!" "Well," Salami continued, "I meant war games, but take it whichever way you want it." Which of these games involves titles like "Rising Sun", "Underground", "Allied Assault", and "Infiltrator"?

Answer: Medal of Honor

The first "Medal of Honor" was released in 1999 for the PlayStation. It has spawned several other video games to make a series, like "Medal of Honor: Underground", "Medal of Honor: Infiltrator", and many many more. Most "Medal of Honor" games are for the PS1, PS2, Game Boy Advance, PSP, Xbox, PS3, GameCube, and Wii.

However, "Medal of Honor: Airborne" can be played on your cell phone, and the "Allied Assault" series is for the computer.
10. "Well," Salami said. "What should we talk about now?" Kyle responded: "I have a few topics on my mind...Real-Time Sims, Racing Games, Rhythm/Music Games, "Mortal Kombat"...but none of these are piquing my interest right now." "What do you see fit to talk about then?" "Well..." Which game was the first to be recognized by Guinness Records as the world's largest MMORPG?

Answer: Runescape

"Runescape", created by Jagex in 1998, quickly excelled in popularity as an online game and over ten years accumulated approximately fifteen million accounts worldwide. Regardless of whether or not you pay-to-play, the game accommodates numerous quests, players, towns, monsters, and environments to keep all players busy. "World of Warcraft" and other games in the same vein are also quite popular for the millions of players they command, and while "World of Warcraft" is the largest of its magnitude it commands a mandatory fee to play every month.

The game is one of Blizzard Entertainment's numerous popular titles and it has released multiple expansions over its run.
