Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is the real Dagger of Amon Ra first seen?

Answer: Gift Shop

Laura goes to the gift shop, where they sell novelty daggers of Amon Ra. They are designed exactly like the real dagger, except they have a logo on them that says "Made in Pittsburgh." One of the daggers in the gift shop does not have this logo.
2. Who is the first person murdered in the museum?

Answer: Dr. Pippin Carter

Laura finds Dr. Carter's body in a mummy tomb, with a dagger in his heart. The dagger he was stabbed with has the "Made in Pittsburgh" logo on it. If you click certain icons on his body, you can get some funny comments from the narrator. This is a very underrated narrator in my opinion.
3. What is one piece of evidence found near the first corpse that Laura finds in the museum?

Answer: A gold Ankh

Dr. Tut Smith's gold ankh is found near Dr. Carter's body. That would seem to strongly incriminate Dr. Smith, who has an obvious motive for murdering Dr. Carter. On the other hand, a woman's high-heel print is also found near the body, and Yvette Delacroix was supposed to meet with Dr. Carter at 8 PM.

In this game, you have to determine which pieces of evidence are real and which ones are red herrings. When Dr. Smith goes to the exhibit but meets Laura instead of Dr. Carter, he claims he did not know that Dr. Carter was dead and that he doesn't know what happened to his ankh. Is he lying? Or did someone steal his ankh to frame him?
4. Who is the last character introduced in the game?

Answer: Ernie Leach

Ernie Leach is the custodian. After Dr. Carter's murder, the police order him to lock the doors to the museum, locking everybody inside the museum so that the suspect can't get away. If you ask me, locking a bunch of innocent people in the same building as a murderer is not the best way to solve a murder.

Ernie Leach is also the only black person in the game.
5. Olympia Myklos is fascinated with men's what?

Answer: Scars

Dr. Myklos arranges meetings with Wolf Heimlich and Steve Dorian throughout the game to examine their scars. She wants to get to know these men better.
6. Ramses Najeer is what?

Answer: Married

When Yvette seduces Najeer, he tells her that he is married. This is somewhat surprising because he is a stereotypical nerd and not the kind of men that women normally go for. Of course, I have a feeling he wouldn't remain married if his wife ever found out that he slept with a whore, or if his wife learned any of his other secrets.
7. Ziggy's back is impaled with a model of what kind of dinosaur?

Answer: Pterodactyl

There is a room in the museum with a Pterodactyl attached to the ceiling. At a certain point in the game, the dinosaur is cut down laying on top of a headless body, its beak impaling the back of the body. Laura finds the head in the life mask exhibit and learns that it is our beloved Ugarte impersonator.
8. Half of the Rosetta Stone is in the Egyptian exhibit. The other half is in whose office?

Answer: Olympia Myklos

You must find both halves of the Rosetta Stone and examine all of the hieroglyphics with the magnifying glass, or else the game will be unwinnable later. Unlike "The Colonel's Bequest," "The Dagger of Amon Ra" has some typical cruel Sierra dead ends.
9. Trick question: who is the third person murdered in the museum?

Answer: Watney Little

At a certain point in the game after the first two murders, Laura Bow walks into the office of what is supposed to be Dr. Archibald Carrington III and he finds a man dead, who everyone thinks is Dr. Archibald Carrington III. However, near his dead body are the letters "C.P." written in blood. "C.P." stand for "Crime and Punishment." When Laura finds the book, she finds a police file for a man named Watney Little, a felon who had been mysteriously released from prison. What does this mean? Well, after she finds this, Laura goes into the basement and finds a door unlocked. In that room she finds a chest. She opens the chest and finds a skeleton and some bugs inside. After feeding the bugs some fresh meat from the refrigerator in the room (so they don't eat her), she examines the skeleton. The bugs had eaten all the flesh from the skeleton, but there is a medallion on the skeleton. The medallion has the name "Dr. Archibald Carrington III," which suggests that the skeleton in the chest and the man who was murdered in the intro was the real Dr. Archibald Carrington III and the man who everyone thought was Dr. Archibald Carrington III was an impostor. The "Crime and Punishment" Book gives you the name and some information about the impostor. Laura then realizes that the impostor killed the real Dr. Archibald Carrington III and impersonated him, but that doesn't resolves who committed the other murders. If it's any consolation everybody in the game agrees that Watney Little deserved to be killed. In the ending, the narrator says "As he was not a nice man, nobody missed him."

This is also why I specify "in the museum" in this question. Dr. Archibald Carrington III was murdered in his own bedroom and not in the museum. So, while Watney Little is the 4th victim this game, he is only the 3rd victim in the museum.
10. Laura finds a phone book. Which name is significant?

Answer: B. Sayff

B. Sayff is the only important phone number in the book because it is not a phone number, but the combination to the safe. The safe contains the diary of the previous museum president Sterling Waldorf Carlton. The diary says that he is that his wife, the Countess, wants to murder him for his money. Asking the Countess about the diary will reveal that Sterling's fears were probably correct.

T. Dargan is Tammy Dargan, a Sierra employee. She worked with Daryl Gates on "Police Quest 4" and the SWAT games. She's credited as the lead designer of "SWAT 3" and "SWAT 4."

R. Williams is Roberta Williams, the creator of the "King's Quest" series and the wife of former Sierra CEO Ken Williams.

E. Leach is Ernie Leach, who is a character in the game. However, the game does not allow you to call him. He probably wouldn't understand why a reporter who doesn't work there was calling him from the president's office.
11. Who was not involved in the art burglary scheme?

Answer: Ernie Leach

In Carrington's office, Laura finds an appointment list. She learns that Carrington was supposed to meet with the Countess in the armor room at 1 AM. Laura goes to the armor room at that time and hides behind the tapestry. When the Countess arrives with a painting in her hand, Laura comes out from behind the tapestry and appears, to the Countess's surprise. First, Laura asks the Countess about the painting she's carrying. Nervously, the Countess tells her that she found it. Laura then asks why she would bring a painting to a meeting with Dr. Carrington.

The Countess asks how Laura knew she was meeting Dr. Carrington. Laura says that she found a note near his body (it was actually Watney Little's body, but Laura didn't know that yet) and tells the Countess that she would make a perfectly good murder suspect.

The Countess says "Why would I murder Dr. Carrington? We have a perfectly good art burglary scheme going on!" The Countess then realized she revealed too much, and is forced to confess and explain the art burglary scheme.
12. Which item in Wolf Heimlich's office will kill you if you touch it?

Answer: The sword

Another thing in Wolf Heimlich's office that will kill you is the mouse trap. If you touch it before setting it off with the bone, a tommy gun will slaughter you. It's the mouse powerful mouse trap ever. Apparently those Germans really loved their weapons in the 1920's.
13. If Laura walks through a secret passage without a lantern, she will be killed by what?

Answer: Bats

There are several secret passages in the museum, although unlike "The Colonel's Bequest," discovering the secret passages in this game is not vital to getting the full story. If Laura enters a secret passage without the lantern turned on, the game will give you a certain amount of time to turn the lantern on. If you don't have the lantern or you don't turn it on in time, Laura screams and gets killed by bats. Turning on the lantern somehow makes the bats disappear.
14. Olympia Myklos calls Ernie Leach to tell him that there is a clog in which vat?

Answer: 13

If you get into Ernie Leach's office at the right time, you will hear Olympia Myklos buzzing the office to tell Ernie that there is a clog in vat 13. That is a hint to check out vat 13. When you do so, you will find... The Dagger of Amon Ra! Unfortunately, the game doesn't let you show it to anybody. If you try showing it to Wolf Heimlich, he will think you are threatening him with it and he will warn you to stop (but you can threaten him as many times as you want and that's all he'll do.

He won't kill you).

However, you need to find it to get the best ending. You can also use it to pry the skeleton key loose from the painting.
15. Who is in vat 14?

Answer: King Edward

The body of King Edward, Daventry's king before Graham, is contained within. You can also find a "King's Quest" reference in vat 10 (the unicorn from "King's Quest 4").
