Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Larry starts this game outside of whose house?

Answer: Eve

Eve is the first woman that Larry has ever had sex with and enjoyed it. So in the intro, he's outside mowing Eve's lawn. Eve does not remember him, having only known him for a few minutes, and tells him to get off her property. So he does, but not before stealing a dollar from her.
2. What does Larry buy with Eve's dollar?

Answer: Lottery ticket

Larry goes to the convenience store and buys a lottery ticket, hoping for more money. It later turns out the getting on the lottery show is easier than he thought because the receptionist at the TV station is half blind.
3. How many women in this game do you get points for looking at?

Answer: One

You can look at every woman you meet and most of the time it will say "You find [insert adjective or place here] women sexy. But then you find any woman sexy." However, the only time you get points for this is at the airport barber shop.
4. Although Larry is easily Barbara's least favorite contestant, he still wins. How?

Answer: Barbara says "too" but the host hears "two"

The host says "I think the audience has made their decision" and Barbara replies "I have made my decision, you know ah, too." The host hears "too" as "two," so Larry gets an extremely, and hilariously, lucky break. Or so it seems. Larry couldn't bribe Barbara with a million dollars because this was before he won the lottery: another lucky break or so it seems.
5. Where is the first place Larry must spend his million dollars?

Answer: Swimsuit store

The swimsuit store sells ridiculously expensive swimsuits and is the only place that can give change for a million. Equally ridiculous is how slow the clerk gives Larry his change, $100 at a time for change of over $800,000.
6. Like "Space Quest 4," "Leisure Suit Larry 2" disallows shoplifting from any store. Also like "Space Quest 4," there is one place where if you try it, the main character will die. What place is this?

Answer: Convenience store

The clerk at the swimsuit store is from Texas, and they know how to use guns there. If Larry tries to steal from her, she will shoot him and say "Haha you are one dead coke sucker." Don't worry, not everyone will get the joke.

What you do have to worry about is having the right cash before buying the drink. It costs more than a dollar, but the store can't give you change for a million. Also, Larry won't put the drink down once he's got it. Therefore, if you fill the cup before you get the right cash, the game is unwinnable.
7. What is the name of the rare musical instrument that Larry gets before he goes on his cruise?

Answer: Onklunk

The last thing Larry does before he goes on his cruise is he goes into a music store, which is closed for the whole game except after Larry gets his swimsuit and his first haircut. There he meets a woman who speaks Spanish, so he tries to speak Spanish with her.

Then he once again gets ridiculously lucky; this time it's not just him but the entire U.S.A. gets ridiculously lucky. His Spanish is terrible, but he accidentally said some secret phrases the woman was waiting to hear from a man who looked just like him.

Therefore the woman gave him an onklunk with the secrets to the United States supercomputer. Had Larry been a tad later, the instrument would have fallen into evil hands and the country would have been doomed.
8. What men will be trying to capture Larry for the rest of the game?

Answer: KGB

The KGB was the Soviet Union's equivalent of the CIA. This game came out during the cold war, so the Soviet Union wanted the secrets to the U.S.A. supercomputer. When they saw that an American man got the onklunk, they sent out their most cunning men to try and capture Larry and get him to turn over the onklunk to the KGB. If they catch Larry, they will take him to a specialist in onklunk extraction, who will tell Larry to turn over the onklunk or he will stuff saxophone reeds down his fingernails.

It is unclear whether Larry gives up the onklunk or whether he gets sax reeds in his fingernails. Either way, the game ends. This is one of two game over sequences you will see many, many times if you are unfamiliar with this game.
9. What woman or women will be trying to capture Larry for most of the rest of this game?

Answer: Dr. Nonookee's hypnotized slaves

During the cut scene in which the Larry look-alike enters the music store, you will hear some music accompanies with a message that says (paraphrased) "Watch out for the KGB and Dr. Nonookee's beautiful blondes." Whenever Larry meets one of Dr. Nonookee's slave women, you will hear that same music. So remember it when you first hear it because that music is a warning. If Larry chases one of these women, she will take him by helicopter to the bottom of Dr. Nonookee's secret volcano fortress. Then she'll tell him to get on the bed, which he willingly does. Then she goes to the machine that operates the bed and she presses a button that secures him to the bed with handcuffs. Then she presses another button that opens a tile in the floor revealing hydrofluoric acid and raising the bed. Only then does Larry realize what's going to happen, and it's too late. She then hits a button that activates a laser that slices Larry in half, starting from the penis and working its way up, then, both halves of Larry are dropped into the acid. This is one of the most brutal ways to die you'll ever see in an adventure game, if not THE most brutal. Plus, this is the other of the two death sequences that you will see many times if you don't know this game well.

The woman in the music shop SHOULD chase Larry down, but by the time she knows what she has done she assumes it's too late for her to chase him.

The receptionist should also chase Larry down because the numbers he said were on his lottery ticket were not the numbers that were actually on that ticket (unless you stumble upon a highly crazy and unlikely coincidence). But she never knows that.

These women are not with the KGB, in case you thought that should have been a choice. The KGB are separate, which is why the death sequence is different. The KGB are trying to stop Larry from giving the onklunk to Dr. Nonookee. So the KGB and Dr. Nonookee are enemies to each other. It doesn't matter to Larry though. They may be enemies to each other, but they both are also enemies to Larry.
10. Who should Larry give the instrument to?

Answer: No one

If you type "give onklunk," the game is over. It doesn't matter who you give it to. It doesn't even matter if there's anyone else on the screen. The game is REALLY sensitive about the onklunk.

There are more ways to die in this game than in the entire rest of the Leisure Suit Larry series combined, primarily because of this onklunk. In fact this game has more ways to die and/or make the game unwinnable than "King's Quest 5."
11. Who replaces Barbara on the cruise?

Answer: Her mother

This is a situation that works out nicely for Barbara and her mother. Barbara didn't want to go on a cruise with Larry because she never meant to pick Larry. Her mother saw him win the lottery and wanted the money. So Barbara gave her mother the ticket. Barbara got to stay home so she wouldn't have to sleep with Larry.

Her mother got a chance to become a millionaire. Larry better not get too close to her and he better get off the ship before nightfall.
12. When Larry enters the pool, you have to type "swim" to get him to swim.

Answer: True

Like several other early Sierra adventure games, whenever Larry enter the water in the game, you have to explicitly type "swim." On the bright side, although he does have to dive to the bottom of the pool, at least you don't have to type "hold breath" like in "Space Quest 2."
13. What can Larry do at the bar?

Answer: Steal some spinach dip

You don't have to go into the bar at all to complete the game. The only reason to go there is to steal spinach dip for extra points. The bartender is with the KGB (which is the only logical reason why you'd get points for stealing his spinach dip) so if you order a drink, he'll take you to the onklunk extraction specialist. You actually can meet a woman here. If you sit at the stool and wait long enough, a woman will come along.

But this woman is with Dr. Nonookee.
14. How does Larry get off the ship (assuming he's not in a KGB or Dr. Nonookee helicopter)?

Answer: He activates the lifeboats and takes one

Larry must go to the captain's quarter and activate the lifeboats. He also must do this without alerting the captain or anyone else that he's in the captain's quarters or the game ends.
15. Which of the following is not an item Larry needs to survive while on the lifeboat?

Answer: Spinach dip

The wig that Larry gets from the barber on the cruise protects his head against the sun. The grotesque gulp quenches his extreme thirst. Larry uses the sewing kit as fishing equipment. If Larry doesn't have all these items plus the sunscreen, the game is unwinnable once he gets to the lifeboat screen after activating the lifeboats. Larry does not need the spinach dip.

In fact, if he still has the spinach dip during the lifeboat cut scene where you cannot do anything, He will eat it on day 7, but because it's been sitting in the sun for a week it will make him turn green and it will kill him.

The thing to do, if you want maximum points, is take the spinach dip from he bar, and throw it just before the cut scene. Why is this in the game? What were the game designers thinking They were probably thinking that they could sell a few extra hint books with this obscure puzzle.
