Created by Toru Iwatani and developed by Namco, the original "Pac-Man" arcade game was first released in 1980, and the Pac-Man character has subsequently appeared in numerous game spin-offs.

Created by Tomohiro Nishikado, and released in 1978, Space Invaders is one of the most iconic arcade games in history.

Along with the waves of alien invaders, whose movements get increasingly quick as the game progresses, the player can gain bonus points by destroying the occasionally-appearing "mystery ship" that moves across the top of the screen.
9. High speed pursuits of fleeing criminals.

Released by Taito in 1988, "Chase Headquarters" sees the player assume the role of police officer Tony Gibson, whose role is to stop fleeing criminals by ramming into their vehicles.

The games consists of five levels, with increasingly difficult-to-catch criminals, ranging from Ralph, the Idaho Slasher who drives a white Lotus Esprit, to the Eastern Bloc Spy who drives a Red Porsche 928.

Mario is joined by his younger brother Luigi in a platform game where the extermination of sewer creatures by flipping them on their backs and kicking them away is the aim of the game.

Originally released in arcades by Nintendo in 1983, "Mario Bros." has subsequently been re-released for the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U.
