There are six total green pipes on 1-1. There are six surface pipes, one of which extends into the ground to a secret chamber. The fourth pipe will lead you down to a bonus coin room.

2. What level first introduces the player to Piranha Plants?

Answer: 1-2

There are only two types of enemies on 1-1, Goombas and Koopa Troopas. Piranha Plants first appear in World 1-2. Unlike "Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels" and "Super Mario Bros. 3", there is only one species of plant and they do not breathe fire.

The first seven Bowsers you face in "Super Mario Bros." are actually fake. Bowser took seven individual enemies and through black magic transformed them into copies of himself.
