Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What world features the only level that can be entered after successfully completing it?

Answer: World 5

World 5 features the Tower that connects the ground to the sky. The Tower is the only stage that can be accessed after successfully completing it. It is also the only stage in the game that, after beating it, when you go back into it you will begin at the ending (if you are coming from the Sky and going back toward the Ground).
2. What is the minimum amount of coins that must be collected to activate all seven White Mushroom Houses?

Answer: 282

There are seven levels, one for each of the first seven worlds, that if you get the minimum amount of coins for that level, you will activate a White Mushroom House. This is the coin total per world and level that you must get to activate the White Mushroom House:

World 1-4: 44 - P-Wing
World 2-2: 30 - Anchor
World 3-8: 38 - P-Wing
World 4-2: 22 - Anchor
World 5-5: 24 - P-Wing
World 6-7: 78 - Anchor
World 7-2: 46 - P-Wing

Total: 282
3. It is possible for one of the Koopa Kid's airships to move behind a rock, and if you do not have a hammer to break the rock there is no way to proceed in the game. What two worlds can this happen on?

Answer: Worlds 2 and 3

On World 2 and 3, it is possible for the airship to move behind a rock, and if you do not have a hammer to break the rock or warp whistles to warp out of the world, the game becomes impassable. Fortunately this is a rare occurrence, but still quite possible.

The only way to resolve the issue without the hammer or warp whistle is to reset the NES and begin all over (if you're playing the NES that is. If you're playing the SNES version you can simply save the game and then start over).
4. How many fortresses are in the entire game?

Answer: 14

There are fourteen fortresses in the game. World 6 has the most fortresses with three. World 1, World 2, and World 8 have the fewest with only one a piece. World 3, World 4, World 5, and World 7 all have two a piece. World 2 has the only Fortress where Boom Boom has lava as part of his lair. World 8 has the only Boom Boom that has a conveyor belt in his lair.
5. What is the only fight against a Koopaling to take place on even ground?

Answer: Lemmy's Fight

Five of the seven fights against the Koopa kids take place on uneven ground. Both Wendy's fight and Lemmy's fight are on even ground. Both Wendy and Lemmy are also the only two that throw projectiles at you that remain on screen for an extended period of time. Wendy throws up to three red and white rings and Lemmy throws up to three green balls at you. Lemmy is the only Koopaling to be riding something in his boss fight (he rides a green ball).
6. What is the last World to feature an Angry Sun?

Answer: World 8: Dark Land

The Angry Sun appears in three different levels: 2-3, 2-4, and 8-2. The Angry Sun can be defeated by the Hammer Bros or a Koopa Shell.
7. Bomb Ombs first appeared in "Super Mario Bros. 3".

Answer: False

Bomb Ombs first appeared in "Super Mario Bros. 2.". They have appeared in a majority of the "Mario" games since that title. They have even appeared in some "Zelda" titles as well. Bomb Ombs feature heavily in the World 8 (The Dark Land) and the airships.
8. "Super Mario Bros 3" greatly broadens the variety of Hammer Bros. How many different species of Hammer Bros. does Mario encounter?

Answer: Four

There are four species of Hammer Bros. in "Super Mario Bros. 3": Hammers Bros, Boomerang Bros, Fire Bros, and Sledge Bros. Fire Bros. are the rarest: they only appear three times, twice in the secret area of World 2 and once in one of the hand traps in World 8.
9. Bullet Bills have been giving Mario trouble since the original "Super Mario Bros." "Super Mario Bros. 3" introduce us to a new variation of these classic enemies who have a red tint and are heat seeking. What is their name?

Answer: Missile Bills

Missile Bills also appear in "Super Mario Sunshine", although they have a purple tint in that game. They appear in World 9-3 in "New Super Mario Bros. Wii". In "Super Mario 64" and "Super Mario Galaxy", they do not officially appear; however, the Bullet Bills from those two titles home in on Mario the same way Missile Bills do. Missile Bills only appear in World 4-5.
10. What is the only standard level in which you can get a Music Box?

Answer: 5-1

If you duck while flying and you have a P-Wing, Mario can fly to a pipe that will take him to a secret area beneath the huge structure that he must climb in World 5-1. To get to the secret area, Mario enters a pipe that will take him to a bonus room.

In the Bonus Room, it is possible to have Mario fly while ducking to enter a corridor that can only be entered while he is ducking. When you get to the end of the small corridor the level will suddenly end and you will get a Music Box. This is the only regular level you can get that item in; otherwise, the only way to get them are letters from the Princess and also defeating Hammer Bros. on the world map.

In my opinion they're not nearly as useful as Jungam's Clouds (or AKA Lakitu's Clouds) that allows you to skip stages.
